Great story, I imagine the maintainers complained about this during training, but the ability to achieve these kinds of missions in a real conflict puts the USN and its aircrews in a league of their own when it comes to combat effectiveness. These pilots and RIOs kept America's adversaries extremely wary of American air power.
@foxkill7 "Very young looking guy I can’t believe he flew f14s!👏🏾👍🏾👏🏾💪🏾 I thought these guys were old now" In my neighborhood back in the day, and even still now, we used to say, "Black don't crack", lol,lol E-7 USAR Ret
So what he is saying is that in addition to flares and chafe planes should have sand dispensers behind the jet to damage enemy engines during dogfights
I picture a Crew Chief chewing on a unlit Cigar saying " SO YOU STICK AND RUDDER JOCKIES WANT TO TELL ME W.T.F. HAPPENED TO MY AIRCRAFT?
No doubt about that!
Plane Captain, no crew chiefs in the Navy, though I would’ve loved that option
"What'd you college boys do to MY planes???"-MSgt Mickland(Blacksheep Squadron)
Heard the exact same thing in my head from one of my favorites shows as a kid.
Wow! I'm just speecless hearing these driver stories! What a wild generation!

Fly like you fight, fight to win.
I see wrecked compressor blades….. dual engine pulls , engine bay inspections, peeled radomes, pitted hazed canopies etc etc
That was going to be my comment. The unknown condition of the compressor blades would make me call for 24hr roadside service.

Sounds like the paint and engines took a beating
This was a dandy story!
Not a problem. Send her to the paint shop.
Lol that run cost you all the beer :)
This man needed a buccaneer ;)
Raise the gear to get down to cruising altitude.
I imagine the canopies were pretty beat up too.
It looked sandblasted because it was! 😬
Nevermind the engines
🤦♂
Indeed. How could this not have damaged the fan blades?
