    This is by far the best "how to" video I have seen! Just the facts without all the other stuff. Thank you , Alfred.

      In theory, the swap (old engine out and replacement back in) is a weekend job. If your only pulling it out for now, under perfect conditions, maybe one day. But I would still plan for the whole weekend in case of stuff like spinning bolts, rounded bolts, or nuts. That's the stuff that will kill your momentum

    Great detail yes the top bell housing bolts are a pain the 2 top side ones also did you have to loosen any transmission support bolts to angle transmission at all or will it seperate enough to pull engine thanks!

    • @CrookedMustache
      @CrookedMustache  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For pulling the I did nothing, it’s came straight out with some persuasion lol. But I did notice the trans drop slightly, supporting it with a jack would relieve any of tension. For the re install, having the transmission at its level height will make it easier or you could angle up the transmission slightly to help mate the two together. The biggest pain will be getting the motor mount bolts to drop on to their cradles. Have a long pry bar or even a broom stick to tap the bolts forward or back as you lower the engine to get them in place.

      @@CrookedMustache the top trans bolts cannot get to unless you pulled trans with engine or removed intake like I had to.

  • @camronfritz

    What is the best way to unbolt the top bellhousing bolts from the engine bay? And if not is there any other way? Ive been struggling with those for days lol

    • @CrookedMustache
      @CrookedMustache  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know what you mean, it’s wrenching by braille lol. For the top two, With the intake manifold removed you should at least be able to access them and a ratcheting wrench will save you from “locate, twist, lift, repeat mantra lol.
      For the upper ones on the side, if you can get you hand into the gap the wrench might work, for me ended up using a ratchet with several extensions and the angle drive to reach it from like the back for the transmission. Hardest two bolts of the whole job

    Can you please help with ID of a part? It is located at the front right of the engine bay, it is attached to the framework left of the battery. It has two hoses attached, one comes from the throttle body, the other I'm not certain. There is a connector on there with a Black/red wire and a blue wire. I have scoured the manual but I cannot find what it is for, it is broken and has a diaphragm in the bottom. I would be grateful for an ID please

    Did you have to do anything special to remove the bolts that hold the exhaust manifold to the exhaust downpipe? Mine are completely rusted out and the clips that hold the bolt keep turning with it lol I'm about to cut the exhaust out tbh.

    • @CrookedMustache
      @CrookedMustache  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Ran into that problem with the passenger side manifold on the bad engine, I ended up removing the manifold from the head, once the engine was out I had room to climb into the engine bay and cut the bolt so I could separate the manifold from the down pipe

    just in case you'd like to know, the pen size and color of the pen are barely visible, it took me a few to realize that you were actually indicating things you were talking about. Anyway red does not work against black or dark backgrounds. there is a large marker and maybe try yellow.

    Is there anything special I would need to do to swap 3.7l seized engine.

    • @CrookedMustache
      @CrookedMustache  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      FULL DISCLAIMER (since this might be considered getting into the weeds here) I’m not a certified mechanic but its how I would do it if the engine would not turn at all.
      Kinda, so your biggest hurdle is you won’t be able to access the bolts that attach the flex plate to the torque converter ( 8:52 ). To avoid pulling the transmission as well, you’ll have to pull the torque converter out with the engine. For that I’d recommend pulling the radiator for the extra room and to prevent damage and instead of pulling the bolts from the motor mounts you’ll have to unbolt the mounts themselves from the block (while finding a way to support the engine DONT GO LOSING ANY FINGERS NOW!) to allow for enough forward movement for the converter to clear the bell housing and I would absolutely support the trans to avoid damage to the input shaft when the converter comes off.

      I can see we think a like 😉, the LS fits quite nicely. I’m guessing a Hemi would as well. This guy actually makes CAN-BUS conversations kits for the for the GM computer to talk to the Jeep dash and cluster. I think the Holley modules as well

    My trans is stuck to the engine

    • @CrookedMustache
      @CrookedMustache  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      From the calamities I went through, I’m gonna say in this order check
      1. a missed bolt from the trans to the engine
      2. One of the two bolts that go into the trans from the engine side
      3. The starter bolts
      4. Missed a flex plate bolt
      5. The locating pins have seized (it’ll still come out, but it’s gonna put up a fight).
      6. Finally remember that because of the design of the engine mounts, when you remove the bolt that secures the engine mounts to the jeep frame rails, you have to lift/tilt the engine up so the the mounts clear the cradles and you can move the engine forward enough to separate the engine from the trans
