If you want to meet Tubridy, just hang around in Dun Laoghaire for about 20 minutes. He skulks around feeding off recognition and selfie requests(his only sustenance apart from RTE grade cocaine). I once bumped into him at a parking meter and pretended not to know who he was in front of his daughter. It was like sprinkling salt on a snail as he recoiled and withered back into his range rover.
I’m a new foreign citizen residing in Dun Laoghaire for the past 2 years. Thanks so much for this clip, I finally got to understand its mysteries. Like the DL Shopping Centre’s 3rd floor... god what a scary place.
Perhaps the biggest mystery surrounding Dun Laoghaire would be what happened to the shopping centre. It used to be filled with active shops, but now one of the 3 entrances is blocked and the entire third floor is empty. It’s pretty sad because I have so many fun memories there.
Haha love it! Great Job on poor old Dun Laoghaire! Unfortunately, it has changed so much and is still going downhill every time I get to go there! It was all good till the big H hit it! Everything was so cool there when I was growing up! My Grandparents lived in the Gate Lodge of the People's Park When the public baths and swimming pool when it was still open! I moved in 2001, not for the first time! It had gone downhill so much that it was sad! The fact that the first Documentary on Heroin by Channel 4 (which is a bit weird that they had to come over from the UK? to do this! ) The documentary showed one of the downfalls of Dun Laoghaire! Take care! Thanks
There's a great line in an Andy Irvine's song 'O'Donoghue's' about Ronny Drew being from Dun Laoghaire - Andy needs to delve more into the ancient mysteries
Perfect man! Thanks for doing that, your bang on with the shopping centre. You can feel the pull of the black hole when you go up the escalators hahahahaha
Been in two shopping centers out there, one tucked up a laneway and the other on the main street just before burgerking. The one on tbevmain street had the eeriest vibe about it, seemed to be forever empty. Love the videos mate, do Cabra 😂
Really funny video mate. I spent 6 weeks every summer as a kid in Dun Laoghaire, staying in Sallynoggin. I go there when I can, love the place. My Ma came from Barrett Street.
Biarritz up front, Bombay at the back. Perfectly succinct. I always thought the pub on the 3rd floor of the shopping centre, that you could enter by from a separate door/lift on Marine Road was a bit weird. Or was there a pub in the basement and on the 3rd floor? Can't remember, I never drank in it!
St stephen's green shopping center is empty on the highest floor too ....there was a new age shop there and they conjured up designer shops like tommy hilfiger that sucked all the money up the other end of the street .....
Jumping into the freezing cold water and posting it on social media is such a hipster thing to do now isnt it. Its about as annoying as people showing off how politically correct they are in nature Zzzzzz
No it's Laoghaire's Fort. Dún means fort and Laoghaire is the owner of the fort. It was called King's Town cos George the somethingth of England visited in the 1800's and his people were writing the place names at the time. Wiki :"The town's name means "fort of Laoghaire".[16] This refers to Lóegaire mac Néill (modern spelling: Laoghaire Mac Néill), a 5th century High King of Ireland, who chose the site as a sea base from which to carry out raids on Britain and Gaul. Traces of fortifications from that time have been found on the coast, and some of the stone is kept in the Maritime Museum"
A few classic take aways from this. The 40ft is full a people ud never want to know in real life. Bob Geldof is also from Dun Laoighaire but no one really cares. The man talks sense.
What our Frankie here is speaking is pure Dun Laoghaireian but you wouldn’t understand our language because your obviously not from here or dublin for that matter no disrespect 😉 p.s I can drive better than you 😋

That's hilarious
RTE grade cocaine takes it's toll on the budget tell him to stop snorting it up his nose and start smoking its cheaper for the tax payer!
Fun fact Ive seen him casually shopping in Dealz
😆
But you are the one talking about him 🤔
The continued existence of The Pen Place is the greatest Dún Laoghaire mystery of them all 🌀
The guy in the pen place is quite a weird guy

I saw Tubidy on the west pier when I was out walking on the pier,he didn't even say hello, neither did I😃,the seals in the sea were more friendly.
Brilliant, I'm from Sallynoggin and I only came here to find out where King Laoire's castle used to be.
Could you tell me how many exits the Walkinstown Roundabout really has, and how it’s significance of lost travellers relates to the Bermuda Triangle?
Cromwellsfort road. St Peters rd. Ballymount. Greenhills road. Walkinstown avenue and walkinstown road. My cousin Ann lives on Cromwellsfort road
At first it made me giggle. But that revolut add is really starting to get to me now.

Don't forget about the banjo man at the end of the east pier
For you unless you've no legs, feck, I laughed more than I should at that 😁
Francis Higgins collab please.
It's strange as most in Dún Laoghaire and Ireland don't say Dún Laoghaire right, its said like Duun Leer-ra.
Is the translation not Kingstown ?
