    while deploying the html app using amplify im getting error access denied can anyone help me with this

    • @TinyTechnicalTutorials
      @TinyTechnicalTutorials  ปีที่แล้ว +23

      Hi Arti! 😊 Thanks for watching! This is likely due to the "level" of the file zipping. Be sure to not zip the folder that it's in. For example, if index.html is in "project," don't zip "project," but only zip the index.html file. Also, if you pulled the files from the links in the description, be sure you rename them to "index.html" (rather than "index-ORIGINAL.html). I named them that just to distinguish between the "before" and "after" files. Lastly, you'll need to be running as the root user or an IAM user with admin privileges. Hope that helps!

      Yes! I definitely want to do more "project" videos. In the meantime, maybe check out cloudresumechallenge.dev. I've only skimmed through it (no affiliation), but it seems like a good approach for building out some resume projects (costs $20 for the ebook).

    Thanks so much for making these videos. You are an excellent teacher with very clear instructions. I've earned my AWS Cloud Practitioner certification and I'm working towards the Solutions Architect cert. This was a great project to get some hands-on experience with building a simple web app. Next... I plan to play with it to see if I can change the function to do some different calculations. :) For future tutorials, I would love to see something using Rekognition. I've been thinking about trying to build a couple of facial recognition based cat feeders for my 2 fur babies. I would love to learn anything about how to integrate Rekognition with an API. :)

    • @TinyTechnicalTutorials
      @TinyTechnicalTutorials  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey @dennessey! 😊 Thanks for watching! This is likely due to the "level" of the file zipping. Be sure to not zip the folder that it's in. For example, if index.html is in "project," don't zip "project," but only zip the index.html file. I've had the issue a few times with Amplify. Or if you have multiple files, just select all the files and zip them, rather than zipping the folder that contains the files. Hope that helps! Feel free to post an update here if it does...it might help someone else.

    Hey, I am an Electrical Engineering graduate and want to transition to the cloud computing field. I have tried to take many 11 12 hr courses but left in the middle because there was a lack of coherence in them. Then I found this channel.
    This is by far 1 of the best AWS tutorial series I have seen. Short and straight to the point. The best thing I like about you is your way to keep audience engage, by doing practical rather than spending hrs and hrs on theory.
    I am at this Web App Tutorial and will definitely complete the series.
    But there is one thing I want to ask you , what other resources I should follow and learn from to transition into the cloud engineering field. Your tutorials give you a strong base , but what other courses or (PATH to follow) you would recommend to a beginner( who not know so much about programming) should do to be a AWS cloud engineer
    Thank you for reading my comment up to this point 😊

      Hi nexus! 👋 Thank you for the VERY nice comment...this made my day! 🥰
      There are various AWS courses out there, and it sounds like you've already found several. I personally have courses for AWS Cloud Practitioner and Solutions Architect Associate (see links in the description). But I would strongly suggest getting as much hands-on practice as you can. It's one thing to watch a course, or watch someone else do demos, but actually building a project yourself is what makes the learning "stick" (kind of like any other skill in life, from driving a car to swimming). I have some ideas for projects here: th-cam.com/video/x7YjX2_zGsk/w-d-xo.html
      But I also recently came across this video from the "Be a Better Dev" channel: th-cam.com/video/LTH9m4HkeYY/w-d-xo.html. He's got some really practical tips on how to get started---lots of things you won't find in a typical course. He also has a mindmap of additional resources you can dig into if you need to learn more about a particular area.
      Hope that helps to get you started. Good luck with the learning! 💪🤓

    thanks for making these videos. This was exactly what I was looking for. I want to build a few applications with AWS, but I was wondering about the cost of the services. They would be small applications just to show on a portfolio so I don't think it would be a significant cost. Am I right to assume so?

    • @TinyTechnicalTutorials
      @TinyTechnicalTutorials  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm so glad it was helpful! 😊 If you're still on the Free Tier (aws.amazon.com/free), then everything should be free. Outside of that, though, there could be a small cost, depending on how long you leave it running/how much traffic it gets. I calculated it a while ago using the AWS Calculator (calculator.aws). If you have thousands of people hitting the site every month, that will invoke API Gateway and the Lambda function a lot. For minimal usage (like friends and family), I think my estimate came out to less than $2/month. So not much money, unless the site goes viral! 😎 Hope that helps!

    • @TinyTechnicalTutorials
      @TinyTechnicalTutorials  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi @khchan2! 👋 Yes, in the real world, it's a good idea to specify the specific domain that requests will be coming from. When we enabled CORS at around 12:52 in the video, we specified "Access-Control-Allow-Origin" as the wildcard (*), meaning requests are allowed from anywhere. But you'd want to update that to be your Amplify domain to allow calls only from there. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching! 🙏🤓🌟

    Great to follow handy tutorial 👍👍 Just wander how from one's website you can also be logged in as a valid user with an IAM permission role to allow and make use of the API gateway and be able to call that specific Lambda function. Or do I have to look this up in one of your more recent TTT videos? Thanks!

    • @TinyTechnicalTutorials
      @TinyTechnicalTutorials  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mokum! 👋 Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed the video.
      The API Gateway endpoint we created is a public one, so there's no authentication required to call it from the UI (if you want a private endpoint, you'd select that as the "Endpoint type" when setting up the API). The ability to invoke the Lambda function...that comes because we granted API Gateway permissions to invoke it. This kind of happened behind the scenes in this video. There's just a quick dialogue that pops up around 12:19 in the video, saying that's what's happening.
      So we invoke API Gateway, API Gateway invokes Lambda, and then Lambda writes to DynamoDB (we also set up those permissions when working with Lambda). Because all the permission-granting happens between the services, we don't need to be logged in as an IAM user. You can use something like Cognito to allow users to log into a website, but those would be separate user accounts from the IAM users. The IAM logins are only meant to log you in to the AWS Console.
      Hopefully I understood your question, and hopefully this makes sense!! 😊

    • @TinyTechnicalTutorials

      I'm glad it was helpful! 💪😎 Right...if you delete all the resources, that will delete the project. If you're still inside the Free Tier window (aws.amazon.com/free), then you should be able to leave things running for a while without incurring any charges. But just be careful because they WILL cost something at some point (I've had some big surprise bills myself over the years, which is never fun!). Another option would be to record a video demo of the project, then use that to showcase what you built (uploading to TH-cam or Vimeo or some other platform). It's not quite as good as sharing a fully-functional project, but it would be free. 😊
