    11:05 and the entire video---makes me proud as a USAF vet who has seen thrm in action at a 11/84 Air Show "Augmentee."
    Crowd Control of Traffic detail outside the base.
    I drew Flight Line duty right where you saw the maneuvers right above you.
    Lead pilot, a Major, was swamped for autographs in front of me.
    And this Thunderbird lead pilot addessed me in respectful terms that I won't forget.

    Go, badass Thunderbirds.
    Ex-USAF here, and I've seen the 'Birds up close at Norton AFB's November Air Shows.

    The F16 is a big aeroplane to manoeuvre in aerobatic flying.
    The Thunderbirds do this incredibly well!
    I am not American but I have seen their display in my own country.
    Great video! 👍

      F-16s are very compact, lightweight fighters.

    Ginger Summers is right on the money. The "singsong cadence" is said in the same precise way every time to build trust and predictability. Having watched a LOT of Blue Angel and Thunderbird videos, they literally move the flight controls on individual words. I'm not crazy about THIS boss's call style; I've heard better, but he is communicating confidence, as they all must. Agreed that the the Blues are tighter.

    • @kb2ob
      @kb2ob  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I mix a new sound track combining the video’s audio and recorded comms audio using Audacity, then import the sound track into a movie editor to make the final video. Great question.

    I have a Bearcat 125 scanner, would i be able to pick up the pilot comms? What freq do they talk on?

    • @kb2ob
      @kb2ob  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You should be able to pick up their Uniform channel (last check 235.250Mhz AM mode) used by solos during shows. You probably CANT pick up their Victor channel (last check 141.175Mhz AM mode) on the 125, since the specs show it will receive that frequency, but only in NFM mode, not AM mode. I used 2 radios to record this, as they’re often talking at the same time.

    Can these planes fly over a crowd in excess of Mach 1.5? Or would the sound or shockwave be too much?

    • @GrizBear63
      @GrizBear63 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They don't fly over Mach at the airshows. usually .95 Mach is the highest speed they perform.

      I used iMovie (Mac) for final production. Most zooms were done in iMovie. The cockpit audio was recorded separately, and ducked into the audio using Audacity. Radios and equipment used are in the description notes.
