Which is what is great about this album. It’s so underrated and people take it the wrong way. A lot of this album “relapse” is exactly when he relapsed, so he described staying home and staying awake for days on ends watching movies/tv/documentaries on serial killers etc. which is what influenced a lot of his lyrics in this album. It’s really a work of art. The lyricism and everything is intense. Glad he’s finally out of it and rapping to his full potential without drugs. But this album is awesome and extremely underrated and misunderstood

This song helped me quit alcohol and pills. I started drinking heavily when I was just 14. It started with sneaking some of my dad's whisky every night after my parents went to sleep, and after a while I started getting my own bottles and hiding them in my room. I was getting blind drunk every single night and buying pills from people at school. I didn't even care what the pills were, I just took them. I stumbled across this song and started listening to it a lot because I knew deep down that I was becoming the person he was describing in the song and that I really didn't want that for myself or my family. One night my parents came home and found me passed out on our bathroom floor. They woke me up and I remember seeing my mom crying and my dad looking totally defeated. After that night I decided to quit drinking and taking pills because I knew I was at the point of no return. I started smoking weed to keep myself from relapsing and got totally hooked on it and ended up smoking weed every day for 9 years. A few months ago, I managed to quit smoking weed after many failed attempts and now I've been sober for 4 months.
To anyone reading this who's in a similar situation: I spent 11 years of my life either drunk or high. It feels like we need to keep going just to feel normal but trust me, I feel 100X better now that I'm sober. Quit while you can because every day that you don't, it only gets harder. God bless.

Just listened to that the other day to celebrate him being the most certified artist in RIAA history. "I ain't never went gold off one song, I'm running up on someone's lawn with guns drawn". He's come a LONG way from Rock Bottom. It's a shame that it isn't one of his gold, platinum, diamond records, but it's also not the subject of pop songs either. Love it. I hope he covers it.

The way he describes the spiral is just so accurate, I have my demons mostly under control these days, however there was a point where things got really dark in 2019 for a while with my drinking, and depression, everyone had abandoned me, and no one knew how bad it was, lashing out people, who still to this day don't understand why I did.

I love that second and third verse where he's describing life after convincing himself a half a beer is OK. In the recovery world they call that "playing out the tape". He goes into the full story of what that half of beer turns into and he ends up right back where he started. Such an amazing storyteller. Has the beer, gets a hangover, takes a pain pill for the hangover, then he's taking so many painkillers until he's physically addicted to it, now he can't sleep so back to the sleeping pills trying to say it's cool until the kids come home from school and it just keeps going...I love how he approached that.

I have a beautiful 8 yr old daughter and the relationship with her mom is very toxic... Ive noticed in my case, when stuff is really in the gutter i fall back on eminem songs... because it relates so deep to what im going through (im not some crazy stan fan) But hearing him sing about his issues, really helps me realize im not alone, and if eminem(with all his fame) can get through it..it really gives me hope, and drive to be a good father and man... but again, i noticed when i start listening to eminem lots, its a sign that things arent going good in my personal life.. so im very thankful for your wisdom and advice through your reactions... just facetimed my daughter to remind her how much i love her and ill never leave her... so again, thank you reaction therapy and eminem

I’m 20 years old and I’m an addict. I haven’t had a long history of using but even with that being the case, addiction hits you whenever you least expect it. There’s a very fine line between experimenting/recreational using and actual addiction. This week I’m 1 year sober and the recovery process has been good so far (ups and downs, of course, but overall good). My rock bottom was developing a psychotic break for several months where my reality was completely distorted due to the abusive use of several drugs and a pretty heavy isolation. I have to thank my mother for my current state, cause without her I wouldn’t have gotten the help I needed. It’s still hard to fully accept that it’s a lifetime disease and you have to be very careful and live an organized lifestyle. To everyone out there struggling with this problem, there is hope, and I’m sure you can do this. The most important thing to understand is that it takes time to heal and you don’t have to do this alone, get help and get well. Loved the reaction, much love from Spain!

I just found your channel a few days ago, watching starshopping w peep. It’s hard to explain but you can understand a song, but when you break it down it has a completely different meaning. Deja vu is such a good song, probably one of my fave by Eminem

I think my favorite line in the whole song is "and since I'm, convinced that I'm an insomniac, I need these pills to be able to sleep, so I take three naps". Hits so hard. Like he can't sleep without the pills cuz he takes the pills to sleep, so now he 'needs' them in order to sleep, but also he takes three naps just so he has an excuse to take them more often. It's such a crazy line to break down

Eminem is one of the only RAW artists in the world who portrays and describes things to such a graphic extent he paints reality for many people out there.. its why he is such a legend that stands out amongst every other musician seen by the world so far.

This, to this day, is the single hardest song to listen to, but I go to it sometimes to remind myself how destructive addiction is. It’s the “Requiem for a Dream” of songs. Oy….

Man this brings up a lot for me. Me and my 4 friends at 14 use to blast this song and a lot similar while getting black out. We all came from a pretty horrendous past and we all bonded on our truama and did what we knew to make the pain stop. Drink. For 3 years of highschool everyone watched our lives slip out our hands. We were drunk on the schoolbus, in class, in the hall on the streets. Our grades dropped significantly, we were sick all the time from being hungover. We all had a vicous cycle consume us. We displayed ourselves. No one cared. None of us managed to finish highschool we dropped out one by one. I no longer drink and I'm finishing school now. One friend is in rehab. The others are still lost. I now can fully acknowledge that we played this song and lots more as a cry for help.

Great video bud! Still gonna be here asking you to cover "Eminem- Going Through Changes". It's a pretty emotional song about his sorrow at the loss of his child hood friend Proof, who was shot outside a club in April of 2006. Eminem also describes overeating, daytime napping, and pill-addiction, he ends the song with a note of love and empathy for his ex-wife Kim

i really appreciate your analogies on being an addict for life even after becoming sober. i drank alcohol everyday from age 14-25, was in the hospital 3 times within a year kissing death with a failing Pancreas (worst pain i ever felt)
i was finally able to kick it and now 2 years sober but it is still a struggle EVERY single day.. i have to just stay away from it but its so hard. thank god i have been able to stick with it so far.
Side note: AA is NOT for me. it made me drink twice as much. i got sober on my own

It's insane how scarily similar him and Elvis are, with the pills and being surpunded with "Yes Men" both raised and surrounded by black culture and uaing it to launch into fandom. Eminem was requested, and openly accepted the request to make a song to play at the credits of the Elvis film.

Really enjoyed your reaction & from someone who went thru it , he painted the picture perfectly.. 8 yrs sober now, from a prescription addiction of benzo's, that turned into opiates & 3 times the amt of benzo's for a real anxiety disorder.
But my pusher was a Dr, that just get throwing more Xanax at me, till I was so numb I didn't feel anything..
Took a dui, & a rough 2 yrs to wake up but so glad I did. I was taken 12-15 mills of Xanax a day, and somedays another 120-150 of oxy on top of it. Yeah, I know enough that would kill most people ...
Who knew the rapper that became my favorite at 22, for his technical abilities would inspire and motivate me to stay clean thru my early 30's..
It's not easy, not gonna sugar coat it.. but there is a better life at the end of it. You gotta make that decision on your own though & yeah, you might slip. But, it's not how many times you fall.. it's how many times you get back up.
Best of luck to those going thru it or in recovery. Keep your head up. Don't isolate yourself, there are those out there that will help you.

As a former painkiller addict, this song is awesome. He's literally explaining the addict mindset and those inner battles in your conscious that any of us can relate to. I'm clean now but I still listen to this song to remind myself not to go back to my old life. He does a great job of portraying the the justification and mental gymnastics associated with drug addiction too

As someone who is diagnosed bipolar 1, and has felt like this every time I am manic , this song hits hard for me.
I’ve overdosed multiple times, and just get every line of this song. Last time I was manic and overdosed I ended up taking an entire months worth of Xanax in a night. I got to the hospital fast enough I guess but the EMT had to do a sternum rub to wake me up (rub is such a weird word for this, it hurts a lot)and the doctor said I was probably a few minutes away from undoubted death.
