Reset the 6 percent as 0% …then fully charge and when full calibrate as to 100% …
Then do a capacity check and drain it to O again then back up to 100% ..and count the total amps…down and up…
This happened to me last fall and has been very accurate since I reset things…

original Message from Seplos 4.3.2024 über whatsapp
Our SOC algorithm is like this
When charging and discharging, the current integral system is used for calculation, and the voltage calibration point is finally added.
When the battery low voltage alarm occurs, the SOC is calibrated to 6%. When the battery high voltage alarm occurs, the SOC is calibrated to 98%.
After version 0.6, we adjusted the current threshold of bms to 0.5A, and the internal SOC calculation was placed above 0.2A.
Version 0.7 is We found that there is a problem with the accumulation algorithm of SOC and repaired the SOC current integral accumulation algorithm.

27:49 - yes , tell us more about that energy card cause it is one of our next project, that HACS panel. That gem hidden in the last minute or so.
AND: SEPLOS should send their 1 and only BMS developer for weeks to offgrid garage and stay there till everything is fixed cause otherwise this will never happen
And this way the right person, the lead developer can visit Australia and learn from andy how to do a project and manage that right instead of this trial and error work we have faced so far.
Of cause SEPLOS pays for everything cause we have paid seplos months or years ago to get a working system which recognices when 100% is achieved and stops charging before a cell might even dy or burn. So sad that they do not get it even after Neey had learned the lessons quite well and soon. SEPLOS did not come anywhere close to Neey level of improvements.

0.7 seems to have solved the soc issues for me. Previously had the same issue of the soc sitting at 98.5% for anything up to 2 hours at full charge but it's now going from 96% to 99% within 5 minutes with the charge dropping off to 10amps at 99% then hitting 100% after about an hour. It also seems to have fixed the issue where the soc would suddenly drop about 30% or more even with a tiny load of just 0.3kw. I only have one 280ah pack for now and charge at 57.6v.

what i have noticed with seplos type bms in the shoto battery i have is , the same way the bms doesn't see the battery as charging under 1A
any time the solar/load causes the battetry to be in that slow charge without registering area the soc is unchanged as it isn't charging , asume the same may happen on discharge as anything under 1A doesn't count or whatever the threshold is for bms
before i had panels on my inverter (battery backup only -SA loadshedding) i did not experience this at all
naturally worse on cloudy days when load/pv is closely matched
so i think it is like the bms gets stuck on 99% waiting to hit pack/cell voltage to reset
it may have a % set to be stuck at until it goes under certain cell voltage at the bottom

What I found is as long as the smart shunt is still the battery monitor and the JK is the controlling BMS, everything works just fine. As soon as I switch the JK as both, controlling BMS and battery monitor, it shows generation = consumption.
If I unplug the smart shunt, it is the same, generation shows the same as consumption.

The JK BMS is also not perfect. Personally, a 100%SOC voltage should also have a current attached to it. I agree, using just the voltage is not enough. I've got the request for a tail current already on my list. Not sure if they can make another user setting though. We may end up with like a fixed current setting for this feature.

@@OffGridGarageAustralia Appreciate the response! Really great that you're working with the community and JK to hopefully bring us closer to the one BMS to rule them all.
At the moment I fixed the problem through node-red on the victron gx device. I (with chatgpt) wrote a code that takes charging/discharging, voltage, current and SoC into consideration. I increased the 100% limit on the BMS and use the node red function below. Limit charge voltage to 55.2 until charge current drops bellow 5 amps for ten minutes. The increase the voltage limit to 57V until SoC reaches 100%. At this point decrease the voltage limit to 53.6V for 4 hours.
Still testing the work around, hasn't been very sunny recently in Germany, yet.

I've had suspicions with my system which comprises a Seplos DIY tower with 305ah cells & 3.0BMS. SOC is always high and then can plummet to shut down voltage at 40-30% SOC on the display. So I added a Victron shunt to compare. I fully charge and reset both the shunt and Seplos BMS to 100% capacity. However, less than 12 hours later following normal use, the smart shunt can show 35% where as the Seplos BMS can show 85%. And just as your previous videos, I never achieve 100% with the seplos BMS. I have more faith with the Victron value on my system. Do you think the Seplos BMS has a discharge floor level? Which might have a different name in the settings? Maybe that's why it doesn't read values below 6% SOC?

  • @AshleyL-.-L
    @AshleyL-.-L 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

Hmm......after watching this video, I think Seplos BMS holding 98.5% 99% charging algorithm is perfectly suitable for Voltronic OEM based inverter (Growatt, Luxpower, EG4, Axpert). As you know, Voltronic OEM inverters will shut down the moment SOC 100% is sent by BMS. Perhaps it is not a bug after all. Got a feeling Seplos only design the BMS charging algoritm for Voltronic OEM based inverters since they don't have access to expensive SMA or Victron. Might be late in commenting since this video was out three months ago.

Old camera has better WB, new camera is a bit yellow. Get yourself a neutral gray card to set them up properly. Outside will be different too. The garage light will cause colour shift, partcularly with fluoros.

The new cam was filming directly into the neon lights (LED tubes) above and hence the colours showed so different. Old cam has a smaller angle and didn't get the direct light.

If you haven't figured out by now... Hardly any companies, engineers, programmers, sellers, or owners know much about how LFP batteries actually work....

You might get more even charging by flipping one of the terminals so positive comes in at the top and negative at the bottom as an example. Seems to even out the power to the batteries.
The question is why these companies don’t automatically recalibrate when set to lifepo4 and use voltage at the top (> 3.45) and bottom (

When you see the SOC immediately going from 6.0% to 6.1% after charging (while it was at 6.0% for a long time during discharging) - that alone, in principle, does not imply that the calculation or the displayed percentage is wrong.
Let's consider the 6.0% on the display to be the 0.0% SOC that the BMS is aware of. For some reason Seplos may want to display that as 6.0% - who knows why, but that does not matter too much.
At the moment it sees a charge, it may recalibrate the low-point of the battery setting it to 0.0%, and thus immediately starts increasing the SOC to 0.1% (visualized as 6.1%).
So, yes, if there is no recalibration, there is a "3% error" as you mentioned, but if it recalibrates at the bottom capacity, all is fine in the calculations (apart from the visualization), a Victron Smart Shunt would equally recalibrate at the low-point (without the 6% shenanigans). Having said that, that firmware needs an update, because the displayed percentages undermine the its trustworthiness.

Apparently, it only ever calibrates when OVP is hit. Which i not a great design.

Hi @OffGridGarageAustralia This review is intriguing; not that I'm certain, but could this be the case where all three BMS's need to undergo a 'learning capacity procedure' for the charge curve to display a correct SOC, just as explained on their PDF available on their website, "SEPLOS 280(L) Installation Guide with Active Balance Board" pdf file.
It's done by charging the batteries at full SOC 58.4v not 55.2v (which is preset as your default) then let the active balancer run for a whole night and charge back to 50% SOC After which you 'should' have a correct reading. Only then you may re-correct the max pack charge voltage back to 55.2v as the maximum ( which for those who don't know what I'm talking about, the overall pack max charge voltage is downscaled for optimal cell preservation and avoiding degradation over long-term usage. (from 3.65 to 3.45volts per cell.)
As awlays excellent, detailed video, impressive amount of time and effort you put into creating them. 💯

Yes, they do. That's what I did numerous times. Full charge to OVP and full discharge to UVP. Then it 'learns' the full capacity. But when you then start charging to 55.2V only, it of course does not show 100%. Everyone defines their 100% differently.
