    We just upgraded to a Luhrs Sportsfisherman and berth in Cape May. Planning a trip or two to Chesapeake City and another to Annapolis and St. Michael’s. LOVE the thin blue line flag! Thank you for flying that. 💙

    without question, one of the greatest things about being in the Coast Guard is being out on the water when the surface is as smooth as glass, no wind, and no emergency calls to respond to. in my life, there's boating, SCUBA diving, and music. then there's everything else.

    Still Pond was me and my parents always go to anchorage. Great choice to anchor out.

    The Grill, the 3rd most important thing on a boat that actually goes places, after engines and fuel.

    It’s a Greenheaded Fly. Unfortunately we do have those here in Md. but luckily they’re only bad at certain times of the year.

    Love your channel and love watching the trip. Wife and I are planning a similar trip. But we aren't planning to go through the dismal swamp --- just something about it looks like your strainers won't love you LOL

      The next video is all about the Dismal swamp. It was amazing but has its drawbacks.

    Those green flies were crazy! Great strategy to move down the river instead. We didn't realize that you guys had Mercruisers, vs. diesel. Interesting...wonder at what size did they switch?

    • @AdventuresofHappyOurs
      @AdventuresofHappyOurs  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Diesels were an option on the Meridian 341’s. I’m more comfortable with gassers as I’ve worked on them all my life. Suits us fine.

      I had twin gas Mercs, 250’s in our Trojan 32. That was back in ‘74 during the gas crises AND a flooded Mississippi. We hated carrying 5gallon cans over the levees. We did Chicago to Fernandina in two years.

    Nice trip! How long would it take overall from cape May to Florida assuming you stopped at dusk at started at day break?

    • @AdventuresofHappyOurs
      @AdventuresofHappyOurs  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s about 1400 miles from Cape May to Cape coral Florida. Assuming 8mph average speed and 14 hour days it would take about 12 days. But there are many variables. Routes taken, stops for gas, weather.. 14 hour days are very long. You need multiple captains to take the helm.

    Nice, hassle-free cruising day. Is 8 knots your preferred cruising speed?

    • @AdventuresofHappyOurs
      @AdventuresofHappyOurs  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I go as slow as time allows. Less $$ and wear and tear on boat. We’ve averaged about 8mph on this trip so far.

  • @duanekimball
    @duanekimball 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    how many MPG are you getting? on my 341 coming up from MD to NJ, I got around .5mpg @ 14-20mph.

    • @AdventuresofHappyOurs
      @AdventuresofHappyOurs  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m going slow for most of this trip. So far averaging 1.2mpg at 8.3mph average speed over 1500 miles.

    How much are you using the genny vs. relying on battery power to run the fridges etc?

    • @AdventuresofHappyOurs
      @AdventuresofHappyOurs  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We only run the gen while sleeping for nights we need the air condition. The fridges are dual voltage so run on 12volt most the time.
