  • Legalism: a doctrinal position emphasizing a system of rules and regulations for achieving both salvation and spiritual growth.
Now a lot of us, when we hear the word legalism in the context of the church, have been hurt by church because of this idea. You may have heard, "You need to do this or else God won't love you." Or maybe, "You won't be accepted if you don't do this." Whatever it may be and however you have been hurt because of legalism in the church, there are only two real possibilities: either we have to work for God's love and forgiveness, or it is freely given to us by faith in Jesus. And the Gospel of Jesus is clear on this.

There are only 12 apostles. Read Acts for the qualifications of an apostle. Matthias is the 12th and last apostle and his name along with the other eleven are written on the pillars of the New Jerusalem.

The word legalism is not in the Bible .....the apostilles kept all of Gods commandments after Christ died ....and pastors do everything they can to defer from those commandments........Christ came to keep the law and be our Saviour to redeem us when we fall short ....

Paul said to Peter, why are you compelling the gentiles to live like the Jews, when you live after the manner of the gentiles. Meaning you don´t live by the law of Moses, so don´t expect them to. Plus, the apostles only gave 4 specific written commandments for believers to adhere to in the book of Acts. The commandments of Christ are all summed up in love God and your neighbour as yourself.
Christ came under the law to redeem us from the law, so we are no longer under it altogether, but reconciled to God. Galatians 4:4-5 "But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons." This does not mean we are without law to God "To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law."
Saying legalism is not mentioned in the Bible is a legalistic statement. The word might not literally be in the Scriptures, but the behaviour is described many times. Galatians 5:4 Christ has become of no effect to you, whosoever of you are justified by the law, you are fallen from grace.
      God bless, brother.
