Got a 700 BDL in .30-06 with a Leupold scope in 1999 for Christmas. Despite getting many more rifles over the years, it’s still my go-to deer rifle and looks just as shiny and new as the day I got it. Love that gun.

Hey man, don’t listen to people in the comments. You’re absolutely correct…the old Remington 700s are great rifles, and the .270 Win is a fabulous cartridge. The .270 greatly outperforms the 6.5 Creedmoor, and I cannot understand why the creedmoor has garnered so much popularity within the hunting community. It is a medium range deer cartridge, and an average performer. Out of those three rifles, that 700 is by far my favorite.

Good video/review! My wife started hunting with me in 1983 with a Remington 600 Mohawk in .243. She did well with this rifle with deer and pronghorn. When going for elk a few years later, we moved her to my Winchester Model 70 featherweight in .30-06. This rifle was always just a bit too long and heavy for her to manage (but she got a few elk with it). A few years ago we went with the Ruger American Compact in .308 for her. Although the compact has a bit of a kick, she is much more comfortable with the length and weight. For the casual hunter (takes the rifle out a few weeks before the season to see if it's sighted in, then hunts during the season), the Ruger American is great as far as we are concerned. Thanks for the video!
Bought a savage 110 apex hunter 30-06 recently and its a great gun for the price. I'm still a newbie but plan on getting out to hunt next year after I've brushed up on my aim just sucks there's no damn ammo around.
Remotion 700 are known to be accurate. I have never herd any complaints on them 30/06 . 270 and 308. Are the best for taking whitetail and elks. Prong horn 270 over the 30/06
Using the single bolt action set up reminds me when I was a young and went deer hunting with dad. I've had the spoils of using AR for hunting lately. I need to get back to my roots. I used a 30-06 Browning back then when i was 16, 30 years ago. I think dad is ready to go back in time and hunt together again. Thanks buddy keep um coming!
It seems to me. That most gun companys have really dropped there pride and qwality since around the year ,2000. Every thing has gone to plastic or polimor. I'm still hunting with my Grandads model 700 BDL all metal .looks good..shoots great. Never no problems. And a Winchester model 70 in 300 short mag I got in 2000. Never had any problems. I know times have changed. But I can't bring myself to buy or shoot something that is 50 percent plastic.... Look where alote of the new guns are made at.... Not the USA......Thank You For Yr Videos. I love my Remington 700, was passed down to me from my Dad. Only thing that’s gone wrong with it, which is 100% my fault, when I was trying to pull the bolt out to clean the gun, I broke whatever it is that actually keeps the bolt from coming out during operation, so now when I shoot it I’ve gotta be carful or I’ll actually pull the entire bolt out of the gun
I received a 22-250 Remington 700 from 1974 as a gift around 20 years ago. It still shoots 1.5 MOA consistently without even a stable platform to shoot from and using an assortment of old, low-average quality ammo. I have no experience with modern Remingtons but I love that one. I bought the RAP in 6.5 recently and have yet to shoot it, but hope to get it to the range soon and possibly put it to use next season. Thank you for the clear and simple presentation, keep it up.
Great job on your presentation of the best budgeted rifles. Just a little advice as to how to grow your channel, I would start displaying the accuracy of these rifles. Let me help you guys out. So back when the Winchester model 70 became popular among sportsman and competition shooters it was known for accuracy, reliabillity, etc: it runs you about 1200 bucks now days. But the one thing no one talks about is that it had a competitor... And that was the Remington 721 bolt action. Found in multiple calibers like 30-06, 270, and the 300 h&h magnum which was once known as the most accurate caliber in the world. The model 721 was a rifle made to replace the model 30 Springfield military and sporting rifle and has and might still see millitary use as a sniper rifle. I still hear whispers of older men talking about the rifle as if it were a ghost, and among many peoples knowledge is, they say it was the rifle that beat the 70 and why no one talks about it beats me, and get this it'll only run you about 320 dollars today to purchase one of these pre 64 bolt actions. I own one and i love it, it's a simple rifle with a single locking lug and a fixed floor plate usually comes with the original stock too.
Bought mine( 700 bdl 7mm) from a friend of mine for 400.00. He missed a good buck 2003, sighted in with remm. Ammo 150 coreloct. Used Winchester to hunt, same grain, missed that buck. And I got a really nice rifle.

Bought a savage axis 243 for my first deer hunting rifle and it’s very nice got it for 329 dollars I’m younger and it has like no recoil so it’s just plain fun to shoot
That series of Remington 700 ADL, is a very nice rifle for the money! The cheekpiece gets you eyeball up there, for nice alignment! AND the Schnabel style forearm fits really comfortably in your hand!! Had one in 7mm Remington Mag, with a 3-9×40 BDC scope and Harris Ultralight bipod, that'd reach out and touch something. Still kicking myself for selling it.
Why trade down with the Ruger or Savage when you have a classic 700? If you have a Remington before Freedom Group bought them out you are golden. I personally hunt with an early 90’s Model 70 .280 Remington and a Bergara Hunter in 7mm-08.

It's interesting that so many comments refer to calibers other than the 6.5 Creedmore. I just bought a Ruger American Black Bolt in .270. It took 6 weeks for it to show up in 1 store only out of 4 that I had put watches on. I think it's because everyone is going gah-gah over the 6.5 Creed. While it's a highly accurate round at long ranges, I think it's a fad and probably not as ideal for deer hunting as the .243, .270, .30-06 and .308. All the stores were stocking 6.5s and weren't getting other calibers in, as in the list above. I have nothing against the 6.5. I just wish the gun and ammo drought would end. Well done on the video!
Nice rifles, though I'm not a fan of the Rugers plastic stock. Think I'll stick with my Savage 111 LRH 300 WIN, purchased the rifle based on the cartridge I wanted and the availability. The rifle composite stock vs a ruger or Winchester felt far superior and amazingly the recoil is minimal if you wanted to empty out 3 boxes.
Iv got the savage axis 2 it has the adjustable trigger in 350 legend and the same centrepoint scope I love everything about the scope and gun except the magazine iv had 3 replaced by savage because the tab that holds the backup breaks off I finally got tired of it and drilled a hole and put a screw in it and ground it down to fit right
For history's sake in the "wildcat" cartridge lineage, the 6.5 Creedmore is somewhat derived from the .308 case. All the cartridges are, .308, 7mm-08, & .243. Now 6.5 CM is a Hornady derivative......
@@marinerabbit9441 actually you are correct....7.62x48 however the Thompson never caught on, had less than stellar performance when compared to the already popular .308 Considering Hornady developed the round in the first place, it makes sense for them to resurrect it by necking it down.
Back when grandpa bought it Remington was a good firearms manufacturer but now a days they’re out of business and I heard they sold Marlin to Ruger so maybe that ruger is the top pick for 2020
@@ElliottDelp I ended up just getting a Mossberg Maverick 88, $250 brand new out of the box, and It holds 8 shells in it.....but I Still need a rifle though🦌🦌🦌

I got a brand new savage axis 350 legend by far my best hunting rifle it is small and just so you know my scope I got with mine was a garbage can the fov would not turn to where I could see through it to shoot the target to sight it in
I love savage rifles they are dead accurate right out of the box and not expensive ,Winchester and Remington quality has declined over the years the older ones are much better.
A have both a Remington 700 .30-06 and a savage axis .243, both great guns. I did notice that with the savage every time I’d take a shot, the bolt would get jammed shut when I try to eject the casing. Kinda annoys me, could be the ammo I use but it happens too often so idk
I’m from southern Virginia and moved to lynchburg. Every time you touched the trigger guard the idea of trigger discipline drove me nuts. 😂 Keep doing reviews though, it was very informative.

Hello, I hate to ask but what is wrong mossburg bolt action rifles. I personally have a mossburg patriot 243. I love it and it has the smoothest action.
The 1st long gun i purchased was the Savage Axis I In same 6.5CM lol and i found an adapter to use Savage brand 10rd mags in my Axis I lol I think its the best low budget rifle out there! When it comes top the receiver, barrel and bolt as well as the poly chassis they use are better then most. Im very impressed by them! Dont own a Ruger long gun. I own a Rem 760 pump from way back when! Its an AWESOME gun!!! I was thinking about selling it but....lol I personally havnt heard about the drop in quality and quality control by Remington? I hope its not true? My family has always loved the company as an American company. I forget who bought them out so idk if they are still American owned? But if they are not then that could be a reason their quality control has lapsed? One rifle i was deeply disappointed in is the Mossberg Patriot super batam rifle. Mine is chambered in 7mm-08.The chassis is total garbage and the bolt is so lose its like it was made for a different chamber? Im going to put it in a new chassis and see if they fixes the issues. After 60rds fired at 50 and 100yrds only 4 rounds struck a 12"X12" steel lol It came with a cheap scope ,but the chassis is like a kids toy. I can wiggle the barrel back and forth without much pressure at all. Its getting major barrel whip! But i have several Savage rifles both new and old and they are all great shooters! One is a rifle even Savage cant tell me about. A Golden West Model 710 series K chambered in 30-06 and has an internal 5rd mag. It dosnt even have a serial number on it as its that old and has never been fired other then the factories test rounds. Its has a Thompson Center Compass I think on it? In any case i have not decided on weather i should shoot it or not yet? I have the Rem760 and a couple of other savages that have been used and new ones as well. My next bolt gun is going to be a CZ or a Ruger chambered in 308. I dont have anything in that chamber yet. I have just stared watching your videos and this is my 2nd so far. Liking them and think ill keep going? lol Also looking for land in your state of WV? lol i gotta get some land in a free state!!!? good stuff bro
I take the older remington any day of the week. I have 2 remingtons that where made in 1980 one in 270 and 6mm rem. They will shoot under half inch all day long
Hi, why you have so many 6.5 creedmores? I am trying to learn about cartridges for rifles. Also, you mentioned your Savage, but recently I have been looking at the Savage 334 walnut for deer hunting. What do you think about that gun and compare and contrast for a sec pleaseto your Savage. You are appreciated. Thank you.
I’m just getting into hunting and I’m wondering what is a good deer hunting rifle for a beginner and it doesn’t have a lot of kick thanks. I like your videos.
My mossberge patiot chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor costed me $250. And would not trade it for any other rifle. Only thing I added was a votext crossfire 2 scope as It did not come with a scope.
ok so you were talking about your green gun (second review) that the magazine doesn't always feed into the barrel. but is it possible to replace it with a different magazine?
I'm sure all of those rifles are good but my opinion is that I have a winchester 30 06 model 70 from the 90s if you are interested in a amazing rifle for deer hunting you if you are looking and you find one you are in luck
Oh yeah man like the video and everything good job with the video. It was very helpful and I am looking to buy a rifle so this video was helpful. Thanks for making it.
nice wooden stock 700 but at that price I would look for CVA or Tikka or similar a grand with decent optics sling and bipod I guess. even the Predator gets expensive once accessories are added including scope
The Remington 770 is an awesome rifle. The only problems I had were both of the sling mounts were plastic so they broke super easily, and the tolerances seemed loose. The bolt had like 3/4 of an inch in wiggle room when the bolt was out of lock up. Mine was a 7 mag and it was a tack driver.

This genuis has the best firearms and ammo his services are reliable and trustworthy check him out 💯
Thank you for the informative video. I've always been a fan of Ruger American 308, but now use CZ527 Carbine 7.62x39
6.5 creedmores patent case is the .30 Thompson center, not .308win
@@marinerabbit9441
actually you are correct....7.62x48
however the Thompson never caught on, had less than stellar performance when compared to the already popular .308
Considering Hornady developed the round in the first place, it makes sense for them to resurrect it by necking it down.
@@bobparvin9773
Sorry, but you're wrong.....30 Thompson...need a Google link?
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/6.5mm_Creedmoor
Have 3 of them 308, 30.06, 7 mag love them all
Back when grandpa bought it Remington was a good firearms manufacturer but now a days they’re out of business and I heard they sold Marlin to Ruger so maybe that ruger is the top pick for 2020
Ruger makes a great rifle, no doubt.
@@ElliottDelp I ended up just getting a Mossberg Maverick 88, $250 brand new out of the box, and It holds 8 shells in it.....but I Still need a rifle though🦌🦌🦌
Subscribed because this guy seems like a really good guy and I want to help him out
You are the man!!
Thanks for the information man. I’ve been talking about hunting for quite some time, but I’m finally ready to get past the talking stage. This video and your other video about hunting for beginners has helped me a lot.
I just bought a 22 rifle savage I like the gun but the trigger is a joke on that gun it's probably 6lbs
A have both a Remington 700 .30-06 and a savage axis .243, both great guns. I did notice that with the savage every time I’d take a shot, the bolt would get jammed shut when I try to eject the casing. Kinda annoys me, could be the ammo I use but it happens too often so idk
SW Virginia boy right here brother yee yee
HOWA 1500 FTW!!!
Which one of the 3 is the most powerful
I got a 760 Remington it's old but it is dead on killed a ton of deer with it I absolutely love it
I have the same exact savage except for mine has the accutrigger.
Awesome!!
I’m from southern Virginia and moved to lynchburg. Every time you touched the trigger guard the idea of trigger discipline drove me nuts. 😂 Keep doing reviews though, it was very informative.

@@daebak7370 so do you prefer Remington, Ruger, or I bet you are a Savage man?
🤣
I agree!! Great job man!! Hey just had a question. What kind of bipod did you have for the ruger 6.5 Creedmoor?
CVLife! I got a video on the channel if you are curious about it! Thanks for watching!
@@ElliottDelp Thank you!! Very helpful!!
It wasn't on here, but DON'T get a mossberg bolt gun.
Hello, I hate to ask but what is wrong mossburg bolt action rifles. I personally have a mossburg patriot 243. I love it and it has the smoothest action.
Same can u tell me what is wrong with them
nice truck and rifle mate i love the rugar the most
I like the Ruger in OD vs all the rifles in black and grey.
Does the predator come in blue
Which rifle would you recommend for beginners??
Ruger Predator
@@ElliottDelp thanks man
I use a savage axis 243
Love the content! Southern wv born and raised!!
You're lucky to have that 700. Hold on to it for dear life.
My Remington 783 gets me almost all heart shots on deer.
ok so you were talking about your green gun (second review) that the magazine doesn't always feed into the barrel. but is it possible to replace it with a different magazine?
I got a savge 7mm08 gonna youse it for deer hunting
Thanks for video new to hunting so these video helped alot.
Get the Magpul magazine conversion AICS? for the Ruger
Great review, brother.
I'm sure all of those rifles are good but my opinion is that I have a winchester 30 06 model 70 from the 90s if you are interested in a amazing rifle for deer hunting you if you are looking and you find one you are in luck
I got the ruger american predator chambered in .308 and man is it a great rifle especially for the admission price!
For sure you can’t beat the price tag at all!
Oh yeah man like the video and everything good job with the video. It was very helpful and I am looking to buy a rifle so this video was helpful. Thanks for making it.
I love the 700
Do your thing. Thanks really informing. As a New Jersey transplant to the mountain state I respect it.
nice wooden stock 700 but at that price I would look for CVA or Tikka or similar a grand with decent optics sling and bipod I guess. even the Predator gets expensive once accessories are added including scope
The Remington rifle my grandpa owned and gave to me
W.V.A Baby, Born & Raised/Ohio Valley!!! I really appreciate how W.V. has expanded their 2a rights! Wish O.H. followed suit! WE NEED RECIPROCITY!!!! Plus, End the NFA & THE ATF!!!
Why not get different calibers? I would have gotten the ruger in 308... seems redundant to have rifles in same chambering.
By all means get different calibers.
Atm it's like putting all your eggs in 1 bucket with ammo shortages for the next 4 years
Because when shtf, you want everyone in your squad shooting the same readily available caliber. Thats why I stick to nato cals for the family. But I do have a few non nato as well.
Thank you for the guidance my friend. 🤘👍
No problem! Thank you for watching!
My dad carved some off my brothers rugers mag identical to yours and it feeds ok now it will cut the same hole
