Lacey is very openly a disciple of Christ! I love this about her. I think it's awesome when bands can build a bridge between Christian and mainstream music, we are called to build those bridges, but when bands do it at the sake of watering down the message and the truth, that's when I think that they are selling out. However, Lacey doesn't compromise her beliefs and what she stands for and I love her for it! That is courage and true love!
@PINKIT120 Well the whole album Momento Mori is based off of an ancient festival (Myans I think). Before they had their feast, a servant would stand up and say "Momento Mori" meaning "remember you will die." This meant that you should live for today and appreciate the life today that you will never get back. The whole album revolves around this, as does the cover art. It's most likely their interpretation of the festival.
for thoes of you who dont know what this song is about, its about hell. its about how you will beg for something to drink if you go to hell. it telling you how to avoid hell (beleiving in jesus christ) and its warning you to not bring anyone to hell.
@TheTriggerHappy Yes, this is true. Flyleaf doesn't consider themselves to be a Christian band. They don't want to be the band that your mom makes you listen to just because they call themselves Christian. But, they write what they feel or whatever else inspires them and because of their faith in God, they write about God because God inspires them. And you're right, they're awesome either way :D
it has nothing to do with beliieving in God but with you heart deciding to live your life for Him and then also having faith that His son Jesus was a real person who was also the son of God and really died as a sacrifice for our sins
@DarkwaveDuck I understand how you feel, I didn't like it at all at first listen only liking Again. It was lacking in what made the first album great. But know I love the album so much, even the songs I din't like much like this song and Beautiful Bride. I couldn't get into Beautiful Bride, but now I like it.
@omnise hehe u have sense at all.. there's no test without evil or anything.. it must be equal.. like theres no life without death.. and theres no light without darkness.. yin yang hehe :)
I think it references the rich man in the Bible who died and went to hell, while Lazarus, the beggar went to heaven. The scripture says that in hell, the rich man begged for Lazarus to dip his finger in water and touch his parched tongue. He also begged God to send Lazarus back to warn his brothers not to come to this tormenting place.
Hey, I just noticed that Eowyn's cries for "Help!" @ 3:21 - 3:41 in Significant (th-cam.com/video/m-6gYZbcfLI/w-d-xo.html) sounds very similar to Lacey's beautifully eery screams from Hell in Flyleaf's Chasm (th-cam.com/video/7lsO4LY3D_o/w-d-xo.html) @ 2:10 - 2:21! Both very RAD songs, and special 2 see 'em connected that way! Go E & FL! :) Go SIGNIFICANT people out there! Avoid Hell y'all! :)
@omjurmom96 This song comes from Luke chapter 16 verses 19-31. It talks about the chasm in between paradise and hades, and how the rich man wants a drop of water and wants Lazarus to return from the dead to warn his brothers. Just look it up it makes way more sense if you do.
if evil was destroyed, what would be left of us? even if we remained, we'd be shattered. we cant be cleansed until we can learn to heal. if you never get sick, your body cant fight infection. if we were cleansed now, we would be vulnerable to a greater darkness. mankind's heart is dark enough, but without it, we'd be overtaken. angels fall faster than man, for those who know no evil, are easily decieved. veritus.
@EvilTeddyy thank you. Look all i said was i thought hayley williams had better vocals. yeah theyre two diffrent bands and genres but i just pefer paramore over flyleaf which is why i said hayley wiiliams has better vocals.
@EvilTeddyy I never even said that "hayley williams is better" i said "Haley williams has wayyyy btter vocals" dont quote people unless your positive thats what they said. and what you said there is completely redundant. because the average person would know brittany spears is a pop singer soooo why would i compare death metal to pop -_- i can see if you said death metal to alternative rock.
adding to what CelicaBlizy said: the beggar sat outside of the gates of the rich man's house for many years, but the rich men never helped him. (just adding on:-)
@LoveIsWritten1 You should stop thinking that you will go somewhere nice when you don't believe in anything (heaven or hell) what do you think will happen?
@JasonRedfield you did hop into this one lol I am not going to shoot you down on your comments, but remember you said apparently. :) "If the whole universe has no meaning, we should never have found out that it has no meaning: just as, if there were no light in the universe and therefore no creatures with eyes, we should never know it was dark. Dark would be without meaning." C. S. Lewis He said it best.
@Kyrzak12 well just cuz u think that we exist because of him, doesn't mean we do. we have povs too. mozart was a musician, not a person of religion. therefore ur comparison doesn't count.
@GreatFlamingPoop if I was an atheist I would not have morals, I would not see the point of doing good, I would want to take advantage of every situation for my own personal gain. So my question is why do you feel you need them? I don't think that falls into the do not ask list.
omg ppl I do prefer Flyleaf over Paramore, but wth? what does that even have to do with flyleaf. anyhow, god bless flyleaf for helping me through rough times in my life. its bc of 'em that i started believing in christ again
@iiScratches exactly, but being an atheist is interesting in the fact that it does not answer the fact of why we have morals, right? If you were Catholic, Muslim, Hindu, and etc.... I could find out your morals and why you have them. So its at least interesting to think about. Also is there absolute truth? Most of the population say there is no such thing as absolute truth, but that in its self is an absolute truth, right?
@lastblakrose I didn't go searching for tylermane77's comment or anything and I didn't reading, but from this comment I'd say that he was being BULLIED. Let's all be respectful toward other's opinions and try to act like civilized people. I have a question though: Why is this video 5 and a half minutes long when the song is only 3? I've been sitting here listening to silence...
@JasonRedfield I don't see any other species even thinking about this problem issue lol Ah, so relative morals(exceptions). You can get arrested for beating an animal in front of an abortion clinic, but the abortion clinic can snuff out the lives humans. So then where did intelligence come from? Any kind of it. Can it evolve from non intelligence. Not really a lot of though by the way. I don't spend hours think of this, but it IS important to figure out.
@anonymousQ45 ya you're right. But i dont think you've heard skillet, relient k, family force5 , etc. they are all just liek flyleaf... find them on here. They're christian bands.. and they rock like flyleaf.
with the way things have been in the world as of late, id say these natural disasters are happening kinda close now and obviously getting stronger and more devastating. yeah, definitely reminds me of contractions. wonder who the daddy is O.o better yet, what the hell do planets give birth to when they get knocked up? maybe our moon is hoping for a baby sister? well, anyway, stay safe in chile. never now when the next contraction might hit. potestas, harmonia, sapientiae, veritas.
@JasonRedfield ok, so where did the sense of right and wrong come from? Why do only humans have it? You don't see dogs condemning each other for killing another dog. right?
@goatriderman i dont pretend to be anything. im human, i like to think i know things others dont, and i like to voice my opinions because i have the ability to do so. and like you, i tend to read too much into every statement others make. i never claimed to be enlightened, but here you are accusing me of thinking i am.
@deoxxys actually deoxxys, that was why i said vatican and not christians. i dont have a problem with christians, i have a problem with hierarchy being a perpetual fixture of ANY belief system, religious or otherwise.
STOP COMPARING FLYLEAF AND PARAMORE! its a new thing called COMPARAMORE. comparamore(n) com-par-a-more - when people compare paramore to every other female lead singer band. STOP THIS MADNESS!
This song is religious, yet kicks ass. Why couldn't Christians rock like this before? If they didn't mention Jesus in every song could they not get produced?
@Rampagedd just because i dont deny the possibilty of god existing (insert atheist retort here) doesnt mean i deny the possiblity that there is no god (insert secondary atheist retort here) so yeah, you seem very open-minded to sprituality. you can CLEARLY tell the difference between spirituality and religion.
@musicsavedmylife11 I accidentally voted down, when I meant quite the opposite. I agree with you, I'm not a fan of religion but she makes me willing to listen. She is a amazing girl.
@goatriderman unfortunately for us both, many people try not see the world except from two perspectives. sorry if your arent one of those limited-minded individuals, but if you were THAT close-minded, i doubt you would bother with these comments. as for not surviving without corruption in the world, i was reffering to not surviving whatever erases that corruption.
@GrimmRebellion It does not matter where they "steal" it from. Literature and Music steals everything. Yes, you can interpret it. But theres nothing to say it is the right interpretation! The songwriters know the true meaning of the song. Thats the correct interpretation. You sound like a Reader-Response Literary Critic, just saying.
@flynvfae Well, you've caught me unaware, as I'm not familiar with the practices of atheists. I'm not one of them. :-) From what I've gleaned in the quick search I've engaged in, atheists didn't begin this activity, and it's not just atheists that would be practicing this, but home-grown US bred terrorists as well (READ: KKK, Black Panthers etc.). My point remains that throughout history religion has led to -most- of the worlds great atrocities. Crusades, Inquisition, Witch-hunts, etc.
Lacey is very openly a disciple of Christ! I love this about her. I think it's awesome when bands can build a bridge between Christian and mainstream music, we are called to build those bridges, but when bands do it at the sake of watering down the message and the truth, that's when I think that they are selling out. @PINKIT120

Love the song, love the band. Im not religous, but i love the symbolism in their songs, and its good music. Is it really worth arguing over?

for thoes of you who dont know what this song is about, its about hell. its about how you will beg for something to drink if you go to hell. it telling you how to avoid hell (beleiving in jesus christ) and its warning you to not bring anyone to hell.
I'm not Christian, but I like this song and band.
I'm not christian, and I understand what this song is about,
but I love it.
This song is the definition of power! One of my favorite songs on Momento Mori! And by the way, ignore the trolls! It works! :)
I generally don't like Flyleaf. But this song just hit me right when I heard it on the radio.
Flyleaf's sound is so different from any other christian band... they're so freakin vamp!
i cant wait for the music video
her voice!!
Welcome to the Wonderland.. Totally sounds & feels like Tim Burton's Alice in the Wonderland. Awesome
@TheTriggerHappy Yes, this is true. Flyleaf doesn't consider themselves to be a Christian band. I LOVE THIS SONGGGGGGG

hehe u have sense at all.. there's no test without evil or anything.. it must be equal.. like theres no life without death.. and theres no light without darkness.. yin yang hehe :)
is it weird that i don't believe in God but i absolutely love christian bands?
hahah i LOVE flyleaf (:
flyleaf has their own style....
chasm means endless like dark hole. for example: the pit of tatuarus in the underworld, were hades rules. but lacey is talking about hell

Both very RAD songs, and special 2 see 'em connected that way! Go E & FL! :)
Go SIGNIFICANT people out there! Avoid Hell y'all! :)
woah she's awesome and its kinda kool she souds like eowen
@omjurmom96 This song comes from Luke chapter 16 verses 19-31. It talks about the chasm in between paradise and hades, and how the rich man wants a drop of water and wants Lazarus to return from the dead to warn his brothers. Just look it up it makes way more sense if you do.
@omgomgwaitiforgot HA HA HA HA HA!!!!!! that's great!
@omgomgwaitiforgot what do you mean by that?
does anyone know what she SCREAMS LIVE BEFORE her F5 "help" scream????

@ddcoalet i might look into that book. thanks.
Best thing to come out of Temple, Texas since "Mean" Joe Greene
@evovenon i know me too. it came out on my birthday :D yay
@CelicaBlitzy Do you know what verses it refers to? I'd like to look it up plz thanks
@EvilTeddyy thank you. Look all i said was i thought hayley williams had better vocals. yeah theyre two diffrent bands and genres but i just pefer paramore over flyleaf which is why i said hayley wiiliams has better vocals.
is this full song?
@EvilTeddyy I never even said that "hayley williams is better" i said "Haley williams has wayyyy btter vocals" dont quote people unless your positive thats what they said.
and what you said there is completely redundant. because the average person would know brittany spears is a pop singer soooo why would i compare death metal to pop -_- i can see if you said death metal to alternative rock.
@CelicaBlitzy where does it mention that in the bible? i'm not saying it's not in there, i'm just curious :)
good song
@omgomgwaitiforgot lol, nice
adding to what CelicaBlizy said: the beggar sat outside of the gates of the rich man's house for many years, but the rich men never helped him. (just adding on:-)
@omgomgwaitiforgot
Yes. I'm deffinetly a little leaf too! lol

@whiteout130 on wiki it says that its disputed
@tylermane77 try creed they are also a christian band and pretty good
@iiScratches exactly, but being an atheist is interesting in the fact that it does not answer the fact of why we have morals, right? If you were Catholic, Muslim, Hindu, and etc.... @becca3044 it's Luke 16:19-31. it actually is in the bible and this song is based off of it.
@goatriderman then i am pathetic. dont worry. im sure it isn't contagious. you'll survive, my unimaginative friend.
with the way things have been in the world as of late, id say these natural disasters are happening kinda close now and obviously getting stronger and more devastating. yeah, definitely reminds me of contractions. wonder who the daddy is O.o better yet, what the hell do planets give birth to when they get knocked up? maybe our moon is hoping for a baby sister? well, anyway, stay safe in chile. never now when the next contraction might hit. potestas, harmonia, sapientiae, veritas.

@omgomgwaitiforgot yeah also check out the song "Get it on" By kingdom come. Dame grove kinda old but cool
@kevykev38 I meant "Same groove" not dame grove..
@goatriderman i dont pretend to be anything. im human, i like to think i know things others dont, and i like to voice my opinions because i have the ability to do so. and like you, i tend to read too much into every statement others make. i never claimed to be enlightened, but here you are accusing me of thinking i am.
Really? I've also seen them live 3 times and I thought they put on a solid show.
@raeee19 SwitchFoot?
@deoxxys actually deoxxys, that was why i said vatican and not christians. i dont have a problem with christians, i have a problem with hierarchy being a perpetual fixture of ANY belief system, religious or otherwise.

@13098519 i thought that was the point of the song... a broken family with a dying leader lol.
@TheAtrocity That logic would absolve a murderer of time in jail if he confessed to police after he did it.
lol 2gether we help them fly
@niah146 it's about the story of Lazarus and the rich man
@JasonRedfield I am not disputing that you do, the question is why.
@musicsavedmylife11 I accidentally voted down, when I meant quite the opposite. I agree with you, I'm not a fan of religion but she makes me willing to listen. She is a amazing girl.
@ddcoalet Well then, I guess I can't tell you "be patient" lol because apparently you have. You'll get your day eventually sir/miss
@niah146 it's about the story of Lazaraus and the rich man
@CelicaBlitzy omg i never looked at it like that
@nova2384 you are welcome!!!
This is Zeppelin like.
@yeahhboi05 thank you so much. God Bless
@omgomgwaitiforgot Well I guess that means im a pretty BIG leaf
@GrimmRebellion

@ladykillerize Drums guitar groove. Listen to the song Kashmir. You will hear the main groove going on.
Whats with 3 minutes of no sound?
I really like this song, just sayin.
@flynvfae

@isubscribeeveryone2 what does being christian have to do with them? they're good either way
@iiScratches I am not saying that you don't, am just asking why would you? what is the point? I know plenty of atheists that are awesome people.
