…you guys never seen the behind the scenes of Sifu? To fill you in the actual martial art is called Pak Mei from LWS Pak Mei slow motion captured by Sifu Benjamin Culos
It seems the audio is a bit off halfway through the video, nevertheless amazing assessment, I'm only a 1st degree black belt in okinawan kenpo and have studied for only 5 years so I have many more years of learning ahead of me
Still playing it and yeah they really captured the flowing strikes and solid base line strength of Pak Mei. Hope you enjoyed the video and thanks for the comment!
There are sweeps and stuff and I find them pretty useful... this player doesn't seem to use them though. You can play different ways for sure so to each their own as they say.
The blocks and takedowns are very practical but I’m not sure the hand to hand combat is. The style is based of pak mei kung fu. Thing is that they never do any proper sparring so they get an unrealistic sense of fighting and most of the time, I think they just slap instead of punch. Seems hard to believe with the hand to hand mechanics but the blocks and takedowns definitely. In my opinion the character should’ve been able to check kicks or jump over a sweep rather than move back but that’s just a random thought Edit: I was a beginner on sifu when I said this so he can jump over sweeps. I slowed down the footage and the takedowns involving hands still seem like slaps in my opinion
Sifu seems to use some elements of Wing Chun and some muy Thai! I practice Wing Chun. The only difference it could be Pak Mei because wing Chun is fist strikes mainly not all slapping chops only.
@@gentry4960 well most kung fu styles have eye pokes and dick punches, and environmental attacks are just something thats great for gameplay. It's most definitely just pak mei. JKD is neither here or there as a style right now, it was something Bruce Lee tailored for himself, but never managed to consolidate into a complete system. Pak Mei could have similarities to JKD, but only because of the limitations on how a body could move, and not because it was a core inspiration for the protagonist
@@MatthewTraceur true this is why i never picked up jkd even though iv'e learned many styles. Not sure how many real life fights you've actually been in, but no, real people don't "wait their turn" to come in and strike you. People aren't dumb. If you're outnumbered they will constantly try to get your back, surround you, get your legs, tackle, hold you, throw something at you, jab you with a reach-based weapon. Also, enraged people will often not be deterred by a well-placed strike. Even a good one. They'll sacrifice the hit to take you down or pin your legs so their comrades can swarm you. Even 'untrained' people are far more cunning and ruthless than you'd give them credit for. Otherwise, it was a fun watch. Interesting take on a reaction video (which I'd usually steer clear of).
Taking a weapon blow to the limb is not ideal no but it's not completely ineffective either , it's like using a headbutt , did you get a little bruise maybe but at least you are still in good shape just saying by the wing Chun jeet June do and Kali myself

It discourages block but not so much parry
You can parry Sean. Your structure will go higher but as long as you parry him your structure won't break.

What an absolute legend. This guy also teaches sword combat.
