      I think he uses some sort of technic of when ummm comes on tong, instead of saying it, he make a silence pause and says it in his mind only :) At least that is what would I start with first.

    • @CaseyX726
      @CaseyX726 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@AndriusBalakirevas I agree. Umm, uh, ah etc. is a way for your brain to take a pause and you feel like it's necessary to fill the silence. It's OK to be SILENT. Sometimes SILENCE is a real clincher. SILENCE makes people take notice.

    I know this video is three years old but it’s incredibly helpful and reassures a lot of thoughts I had on this.
    I’ve been shooting my first TH-cam video the last couple weeks and it’s been so awkward.
    I am even someone who came from an acting background in college and thought that I would be able to do it easily. I then realized it’s complete different than acting because when acting, you’re typically directing you words towards someone and reacting to their reactions. A camera feels like I’m talking to a wall.

    I have definitely had the "Who's that!?" moment, and am still trying to look/feel more like me on camera. My take away from this is to think a little more before shooting, breath a little more and worry less. Given that I'm Scottish, meaning I obviously talk too fast anyway, I'm determined to get to grips with it soon and let people meet the real me! Really helpful video Tom, thanks 👏🏻

    My immense frustration is, have a lot to offer to people, and I can't deliver it in the video. When I try to speak, my mind becomes empty and blocks me every time. I'm worried about how I look and how I speak because I am not a native English speaker. Especially, I need to remove strong paradigms from my mind. Now I understand that I need to practice, practice, practice and most important try to speak from the heart like to my best friend. Thanks a lot for this video because it encouraged me a lot and opened my eyes.

    I've been a subscriber for a very long time, and have really enjoyed your style and content. I am not able to travel much so I enjoy seeing all those exotic places you show. I have learned a lot of helpful tips as an amateur videographer, both from your example as well as you training videos. I have made all the mistakes of excessive zooming, panning, etc.. I have made only 1 video talking to the camera. It was addressed to one person as a personal thankyou for a kindness rendered. It was extremely difficult and I probably made a dozen takes before I decided to imagine the actual person sitting in front of me instead of the camera. I could then express my feelings from my heart. Thank you for all you do.

    Thanks for reminding us how dynamic and unique each of us are from one another. I know while we were kids, growing up... our parents, teachers and adults trained us to behave and act perfect at all times.. this is sorta toxic affecting our authenticity as we journey into adulthood.
    So when we feel uncomfortable it may be the reason we remember the society teachings and expectation.
    Now, as we become adults and want to be authenticity to ourselves.. we have to release and let go of peoples judgement and what they consider perfectionist.
    The more we can free our self from peoples opinions and perspective towards us.. the more free and authenticity we become :)

    That's something that I really struggle! Talking to a camera doesn't make me nervous at that moment but when I see the footage I am clearly stressed and self aware! Maybe because English isn't my first language! Maybe cause I just started filming! Your video is really helpful!

  • @IuliHobbies
    @IuliHobbies 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thank you Thomas, I remember my first time taking to camera... oh wierd, English not being my first language,also the level of my English was so low. I didn't not like the fact that I don't have a vocabulary or a accent as all the English people... So frustrating, but I did one thing that put me on the right track, keep filming without showing my self and no taking until I felt confident to speak in front of the camera again. I used youtube to learn English, to express my creativity in my way and slowly the journey started. It is a journey and indeed as you said I realized that my authenticity is valuable to me and my audience. All the best and keep filming and keep taking to camera:)

The rest will fall into place, after the soul is found and expressed. Thank you for this. Hounding it for a 10min video is hard. U did that with your own authenticity. I can speak to people with absolutely no fear or anxiety I person or over video chat or phone. But for some reason the camera really messes with my head.
