Fun fact about Tony Jaa: when he was young and watching all the kung fu movies, he didn't know they used wires so he thought he actually had to be able to do all those crazy athletic jumps moves and acrobatics so he just trained crazy hard to be able to.

You've got twelve guys with long spears and you're facing one guy without much reach, who fight by flying forward with attacks. Hold your spears in front of you, stand in two horizontal rows and walk forward with just enough speed to make it uncomfortable for him to fight while walking backward. If you throw your self forward at ranks of spears, you die. Alexander the Great conquered the world doing exactly this. Now, if he's on an elephant, that's different. Alexander the Great got his ass kicked trying to fight elephants with spears.

He's such an incredible athlete. The spiral tower fight scene in The Protector is ONE SHOT with NO CUTS. That's a long time to be running, fighting, jumping, etc.
Fun fact: When I first saw the Protector, it was an internet bootleg titled as "Ong Bak 2" (which it wasn't, obviously) and the subtitles were in Chinese, so we just had to guess what he was saying throughout the whole movie. When I finally saw it with English subtitles, it turned out that we were right. "Where's my elephant?!?"

Tony Jaa Is amazing. It is sad that his career could have gone much further and nowadays Thai movies are not what they used to in early 2000, ONG Back was a game changer. His stunt team is just amazing, really, I watched Tony Jaa in Bangkok do many of those stunts life, like 3 meters from me whe they were promoting Tom Yam Goong, I beleive is called the protector in USA, and the control that Tony Jaa has when delivering somersault kicks is incredible, but in some of the scenes, those guys really get hit, and much worst, like hard falls and all. The story sums it up. Tony was 10-years-old and was watching Bruce Lee films (which is like 80% fake/wires), and he told his parents that he wanted to become like Bruce Lee and if they didn't let him he would kill himself. And, to make clear, he didn't want to be like the real Bruce Lee, he wanted to be the flying, superhuman on-screen Bruce Lee. That explains why Tony is superhuman. He trained since age 10 to actually be Bruce Lee on-screen, and he's the only human I know of that gets close to that (insane jumping, speed, power, etc.), though I am sure a few Olympic athletes are also at that level for some of the skills, but overall, Tony is just amazing. Of course, Bruce Lee himself did cite the Thai fighters as being the best in Asia along with the Chinese, and I think everybody knows by this point that Muay Thai is a very serious fighting style.

Normal mortals would be out of breath after 30 seconds or so. This guy to remember the choreography and not showing the fatigue (or barely) and still being that precise is insane. And that is assuming the take didn’t had to be redone 5 times because someone else fucked up. Really impressive.

Wondering if Tony Jaa could take on Buakaw or Saenchai. Btw, just read that Tony Jaa had been the stunt double for Robin Shou in Mortal Kombat: Annihilation.

Hello @TheFightBible. Your first video I’ve come across. Huge Tony Jaa fan! Have you ever reviewed “The Man From Nowhere” or “Old Boy”? Both Korean films. Like I said first vid of yours. Be on the lookout before I decide to subscribe!

I'm sure you've received this suggestion before but have you checked out Iko Uwais' fight scenes? His fight work in the Raid movies is amazing.

In case nobody else said, he apparently specifically uses Muay Boran, a form of Muay Thai with illegal blows and grapples.
(Not an expert, just something I saw in the comments on a different vid)

    OMG!
    Tony has good moves!
    ...And bad ones!
Some of those bone braking techniques are ridiculous!
And is that TIGER KUNG FU he's using?!
    That's awesome!

If you want hand to hand combat. You should take a look at Ip Man (Donnie Yen)
    Love his fight scenes

I mean they're cheesey but some of Van Dammes fights in Kickboxer and Blood Sport were fun to watch. And if we're going to go for a full cheese plate, you can't ignore Jackie Chan's fights in Legend of the Drunken Master. Pretty sure that was the one where he fought Bolo in a dumpling shop and tore the place apart.
