How do supermassive black holes change in a year and what can we learn from them? Also, how exactly do researchers make such images?
This video discusses the latest EHT result on the re-imaged shadow of the supermassive black hole M87*. I had the great opportunity to chat with PhD candidate Rohan Dahale who led one of the imaging algorithms responsible for producing the results. We discuss the imaging algorithms, why we need them, and how they enable us to make sense of the data that EHT collects. Let me know if you have any questions down below in the comments.

Informative session!
Thanks! How are you doing?
Best thing I saw today!!🎉
Glad you enjoyed it! 😄
Good video
Thanks!
Good video!
Glad you enjoyed it
This was really great content and execution... except the poor audio quality. You need a better audio mix next time. Lower the volume of the music and make sure the voice is boosted.
Subscribed. Keep going.
Thanks for the feedback! Will work on it :)
Rotation
Oh yea M87* and for a matter of fact astrophysical BHs are rotating (Kerr BHs). The idea of this video is how do they change sizes depending on the environment they are in, and how well we can track the changes/ imaging their shadows.
