    Nice points! Learned a lot. Thank you! I saw these techniques used by Barack Obama! I was impressed at that time, how he organized such an energic topic so simply! Now I can see the link between your thoughts and his speech.

    My notes:
    How to organize your thoughts when speaking At time: 00:00
    Communicating ideas effectively is crucial for success.
    Using quotes can help establish credibility, get straight to the point, and anchor your message.
    Intentional visuals, such as showing contrast and change, can help illustrate your point and give context.
    Being concise and avoiding rambling can help maintain audience interest.
    Inviting experts to speak or using their quotes can further enhance your credibility. At time: 04:08
    Visuals are effective in conveying information as our brains process them faster than words.
    Visuals also aid in recall and help the audience and speaker remember important points.
    Using visuals to show change and contrast can help establish credibility and organize thoughts in a presentation.
    Ending a presentation with a simple action item that aligns with human behavior and consistency bias can be more effective than a complex one.
    A simple action item can help establish long-term credibility and reinforce the importance of the presentation's message. At time: 08:21
    After giving a talk, it's important to give the audience something simple to commit to, creating a consistency bias towards action.
    Reminders about the commitment can be prompted by external events, such as news stories.
    The commitment should be easy enough to do so that people don't feel overwhelmed.
    Use quotes, visuals, and an action step at the end to help organize thoughts and create impact.
    The speaker has another video on how to articulate thoughts and create impact, and encourages viewers to give a thumbs up and subscribe.

    The best ideas aren't always communicated by the best communicators. 00:02
    Using quotes to open helps to skip unnecessary rambling.00:19
    Intentional visuals that show change and contrast are processed faster by the brain.00:25

    Ending with a strong action item is important.05:45
    Showing change and contrast is crucial for effective communication.
    06:03
    When giving a talk, it is important to consider the audience and leave them with a simple action item that they can easily commit to. This creates a consistency bias, where people feel compelled to act in line with their previous commitments. This can help establish credibility in the long term. The speaker suggests using quotes, visuals, and an action step at the end to organize your thoughts effectively. A simple example is bringing your own bag to the grocery store to combat climate change. The speaker encourages viewers to give the video a thumbs up and subscribe to their channel. 06:25

    Very easy to follow. I love amassing quotes. Looking back, i often start rambling on an idea before a quote pops into my mind that perfectly encapsulates the point i want to make. I never thought to consciously start with a quote. I guess by listening more in the convo and focusing on making connections to other ideas, by the time it's my turn to speak i can have a quote in the fore-front that will be impactful. Thanks!
    P.S. The consistency bias thing is soo real, i definitely feel it too.

    Gemini 1.5 Pro: The video is about how to organize your thoughts when speaking. The speaker, Vicky Zhao, argues that the world rewards people who are good at communicating ideas, and provides three tips to help you improve your communication skills.
    The first tip is to use quotes to open your speech. Quotes can help you concisely express your idea, establish your credibility, and prime the audience for what you want to talk about.
    The second tip is to use intentional visuals. Visuals can help you process information faster and remember things better. When using visuals, make sure to show change and contrast to give context to your point.
    The third tip is to end your speech with a simple action item. People are more likely to remember and follow through on an action item if it is simple and easy to do. Ending with an action item can also help you establish credibility in the long term, because people will be reminded of your talk every time they complete the action item.

    Isnt language system learned by expressing thoughts in a linear fashion starting words followed by variable order and conclusion by the end of a finishing sentence? Like E in your head starts explaination until the thought and sentence is complete? People jump start their thoughts in clusters?

    • @VickyZhaoBEEAMP
      @VickyZhaoBEEAMP  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching Lily!! I found the first quote on Twitter one day (I use my Obsidian to track the quotes I like and when I’m making a video or presentation, I search my own quote database!)

    • @VickyZhaoBEEAMP
      @VickyZhaoBEEAMP  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      In terms of convincing others - I choose a quote either from an authority figure that the audience will most likely identity with and/or pick quotes that deliver an insight that’s counterintuitive (like the one in my video) so people are hooked and want to find out more! What context are you thinking about for the convincing?

  • @SeetalMD

    by far my most favourite TH-camr I follow from YT4B. however, i dont always remember quotes though i remember the key points of what the incredible authors or successful people have said. so would reiterating their message work instead of quoting word for word for what they have said?

    • @VickyZhaoBEEAMP
      @VickyZhaoBEEAMP  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Of course, make it work for you! I recommended quotes because it's usually the way they phrase the idea that make it punchy. But that's definitely not always the case so feel free to reiterate their point!

You talk about communicating diferent things like an explenation, a persuasive message, a story, an argument... and you give us tools that I don't think perfectly work with everything that we are trynna say; but won't specify it either. But it might has something to do with the fact that I haven't slept in like 40 hours
