Elmo...thanks for your video. So informative about PJ old and New town. Been there so many years but your story make it so meaningful. Will always support your video !!
I knew that kopitiam has loads of good food ... been there several times... but the lack of parking space sometimes kills the mood . But thanks Elmo for sharing these places.. seems to ignite my eagerness to give it a try again ! ...Thank you very much
Great illustration on both the old and new PJ in it's 60's 70's and till current progress. Very educational, informative and easy to pick up from Elmo. Yatt Lau 👌& Mou Tak Deng 👌. This is again a good kopitiam that has the all time favorites for mos ,if not, for all the patrons to this Kam Heong kopitiam. The Penang Keow Teow Th'ng to Hand made pan mee --> all the way to final SiewLarp rice ....... all brings back good memories of classics and from the number of approvals ✅ given by Elmo - I think I will go and have a try when I am at PJ new town area and it's vicinity. Thank you Elmo 👏👏👏
Thanks Elmo! You not only introduced delicious food but also narrates well. I especially like the historical introduction and those rare old footage which I am seeing for the first time. ❤👍👍
Thanks, Elmo, for your informative video. It certainly brings back memories of when my parents would bring me to enjoy Fatty Char Koay Teow, at 30 sen per plate, then buying provisions at the wet market where Menara MBPJ now stands. Although I don't live far away, I haven't been back for lunch as parking is hard to find. Must give it a try soon! Keep up the great work - much appreciated!
Thanks and another great food hunt from you. Previously there is a popular 'dim sum' place and one of the original 'Sam Kan Chong' pork meat noodle where now the 'Public Bank' is currently occupying! now!
Good show, i am also your follower and always watch your video. Please keep up the good work and share more of your recommendations. Really appreciate all your effort. Keep it up
Short or long videos, it doesn't matter, stay motivated, Elmo! Met you and your wife in Hatyai last year, me and my fam + relatives sharing a table together, remember at Chok Dee? hehe Food is so much a part of our lives as Malaysians and I do enjoy all the history and stories that comes with it! So nostalgic this episode where my late parents used to bring us to this area a whole lot + it's also a reminder of more places and food to go back to, after a long while! Thank you!
The effort of taking the videos and drone shots is amazing! I like the old photos of PJ State too. Thanks for sharing your story Mr Lee. Viewership falling day by day is something I experienced too. Perhaps you might want to consider diversifying where you upload your content too so can get new viewers. Good luck Mr Lee!
@@malaysiafood328 Oh sorry, I noticed i typed halfway, I was suggesting uploading to a Facebook page where you can also gain new viewers and monetize your page too. Maybe even get some sponsors. Mr Lee, do you come here often and talk to the vendors? I noticed you can tell us a lot about them and you can really eat too! I few rounds like you cannot already.

Great video Elmo. Which one is you in the old photo? Your intro of the history of old snd nrw town is much appreciated. I remember some of the spots that ihad visited and it sure has changed. The food choices are great and i sure would like to have them. The only thing is sadly the use of margarine in the toast. Its not fit for consumption. Bitter is more tasty but of course more expensive ❤❤❤👋👋👋
in the early 80's my dad would occasionally bring us to Coolers to eat Fish & Chips when I was just 8 yrs old. Back then, it was pure joy !! Plus, i had great memories drinking root beer at A&W and my first swimming lesson at the adjacent public pool and nearly drowned 😂
This area is a major part of my childhood especially Kam Heong.. My brother and I spent many weekends during our school days helping my father at his stall. For those of you who frequent there might recall a stall selling claypot seafood porridge during the 90s to early 2000s. Those days there weren't that many stalls like pan mee, popiah etc. I've many fond memories such as buying comic books at the bookshop beside Kam Heong. My mom would bring us for our haircut at the hair saloon further down beside Tealive and buy our school uniform and school bag beside the hairsaloon...both shops are still there today. I still go there to cut my hair for the past 20+ years and I would always drop by to tapau the prawn mee after my haircut. I watched my first movie with my family in tht PJ state cinema..think it was jurassic park. And how can we forget A&W with the huge playground with the ropes and bridge and maze. Ah such carefree days..
The popiah stall was originally run by a Malaysian lady... As for the wantan mee stall, they were originally operating at the corner coffee shop next to 99 Speedmart before the current mamak took over the place. They went to operate in Nilai for a while before returning to PJ State operating at Kam Heong kopitiam. The chee cheong fun uses the red sweet sauce. It was run by an elderly couple before the current young man took over. Both the fried rice and pan mee stalls are recent additions (about 3 years)
Sorry woo I usually supply google maps for my all my videos but tis was one kopitiam that I skipped. Simple, u just google Kam Heong coffee shop Pj and you’ll get there
Thanks for doing this video and sharing this location. It brings back a lot of memories 👍👍 However, I would just like to share my personal experience on the last stall, the chicken rice. I will not go back to them bcos they have cheated me before on my order. I ordered drumsticks & thighs to tapau, I even ordered extra portion to round up the figure and to show support (this was right after MCO). When I opened the packet at home, it was all breasts meat, arranged like drumsticks. And the best part was they even put the end of the drumstick (knuckle) to complete the pic. To me, this is plain cheating. You do not do this to your customers. And the WTM is very expensive now. A lot more expensive than others. Lastly, the duck rice is no more good. The seasoning and braising standard has dropped tremendously, while the price raised tremendously LOL!
Hi Elmo, great work man. I have been following your TH-cam channel and enjoys lots of your video content. we are a Japanese ramen vendor. I wonder if u are interested to make a short video about our Tonkotsu ramen? We are a newly opened Japanese ramen hawker stall in Ara Damansara. Our ramen are authentic Tonkotsu ramen. Over the two months of operations, we can proudly say that we have a substantial Japanese customer base who are repeaters to our stall. Whatever the outcome, will continue to enjoy your youtube videos. Cheers!!
Sorry but the prawn mee, wanton mee and CKT are on their best day, just average. And I feel the same for the rest of the stalls. I would rather head to SEA Park for many more choices and better hawker food.
There used to be a beef noodle stall in Kam Heong run by a grumpy old man and his daughter. I ignored his grumpiness but enjoyed the 'kon lo ngau lam meen'. Unfortunately, the stall mysteriously disappeared without warning after his son, equally grumpy and unsmiling, operated it for awhile.
Sorry to say Mr. Elmo but this is the worst recommendation you had made. I was there 2-3 weeks ago. It was HELL! Lots of people and waiting time for a table (just for 2) is about 30 mins. Then another 20-30 mins for the kopitiam people to CLEAN the table. The food wasn't that great also. I wanted to order the fried rice or char kuey tiow. They say have to wait for 1 hour at least!!! OMG, I'm definitely not going to wait for an hour for my meal and with the tons of people there! Hence, I ordered the wan tan mee. Nothing great to tell you the truth. I think Glenmarie's wan tan mee is much better. My son had the pan mee and he too say that it's just average. As for me, I DEFINITELY will NOT return to this kopitiam at all. All the workers are just standing there doing nothing when customers need them to clean the table. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER in a kopitiam!!!!
@@malaysiafood328 , not really. I'll give credit when credit is due. Just being honest here that it was my worst experience in a kopitiam. Those who goes there, take heed
