I dont understand why Ukraine is asking for help as they are winning this war. Russia run out of missiles a long time ago so not sure who is firing these missiles. Also Ukraine is shooting down most of these missiles so need to worry about them anyway. Zelensky is sounding more desperate by the day. When this war is over the families of the deceased will be asking why he chose war and not peace.

Hearing these reports of Ukraine bring down a single Kinzhal missile is laughable at best. Ukraine has nothing to detect or bring down any of these missiles.

All this confusion we read from many today over these hypersonic missiles is ridiculous, as it's not a difficult subject to understand!
By definition, anything faster than "Mach 5" - (5 times the speed of sound), is considered "ultrasonic". While the whole idea behind the design of the Kinzhal missile, is, they travel so fast, that they're impossible to track and intercept.
The Kinzhal missile rapidly accelerates to more than four times the speed of sound (equivalent to 5,000 km/h) immediately after launch, and during its flight it reaches speeds over 12 times faster than the speed of sound (about 14,800 km/h) with an operating range of up to 3,000 km.
It is known that significant physical changes occur to the texture of the supersonic missile's composition, and the disrupted airflow created around it, is required to achieve such speeds. (We have no idea about these compositions, or even what they are).
They're also able to perform flexible manoeuvres when flying at supersonic speeds, easily evading all known enemy missile defence systems.
The Kh-47M2 Kinzhal missile is so fast that the air pressure in front of the warhead forms a plasma cloud as it moves, therefore absorbing all radio waves, making them impossible for all known missile defences to detect.
The US is miles away, decades away, from having this technology.
They're not infallible, though, as the heat created at hypersonic speeds can harm their onboard targeting systems, (that might be disrupted by such heat flows of plasma), such as the lenses of the infrared targetting systems, that are unable to withstand the heat, and therefore they can become distorted.
Russia has cracked this problem, and we see China very close to doing so, the Chinese have been trying an air-blowing device in front of the infrared window, to generate a thin membrane of cold air, reducing the heat on the lens glass.
They've developed a compact, lightweight device that can generate an extremely cold stream flow of inert gas over the lens. So far, they've succeeded (as far as I know), at more than eight times the speed of sound, successfully reducing any signal distortion.
They've managed to create and squeeze tiny mini generators on the air-cooling device, to produce extremely cold air flows over the lens, keeping it cool.
Furthermore, they also developed a new mathematical model that has helped them to better predict, and therefore eliminate, any optical distortion, as the missiles accelerate and home in on targets at wide attack angles.

The SU-35, is classified a "4++ generation fighter" though its true capabilities go well beyond the original/current crop of 4 & 4+ Generation mounts, like the F-15, F-16, F-18, Eurofighter Typhoon, French Dassault Rafael etc.
The SU-35 has a forward and rear-facing Phazotron radar system capable of simultaneous tracking of 34 targets up to 92 miles, (even over extremely uneven terrain). Its cockpit design contains a colour CRT display unit, as well as HUD (Head-Up Display unit) along with digital fly-by-wire (FBW) capability, equipped with quadruple redundancy - (the onboard computers will always find four different ways to achieve the desired results of its combat mission).
Its avionics also include an Irbis-E passive phased array radar system. The SU-35, only falls short of the standard adopted for true 5th generation, by its lack of stealth.
Yet, as we've all seen, the SU-35's tactical value, has increased massively, and its overall combat ability has broadened considerably.
Meaning, there are no other 4th generation or even 4+ generation aircraft, able to defeat a SU-35, seeing all other mounts in effect obsolete. And the USA will obviously be very aware of this, and that proves, as you correctly say, the level of desperation we really are watching from the USA Today.

It's entirely possible Kh-47M2 Kinzhal is an ALBM based on a modified 9K720 Iskander. Ballistic missles have been intercepted before.
In fact, the only way Kinzhal is hypersonic is due to ballistic missles being hypersonic during their terminal phase. By that definition, all ballistic missles are hypersonic weapons.

Russia continues to roll west through the Donbass, capturing one village and town after another at record rates
Russian troops are approximately 2 km to the city of Selidovo, and about 10 km to Pokrovsk. This will mark I believe a turning point for the Russian command and Putin will gear up for a major expansion in military operations.
With the Russians getting their objectives all set. The Donbass Front Collapsing , Western Military support almost gone, freed up of any need of having to talk and the Global South (especially China) now understanding there will be no talks anymore. After the massive blunder of the Century in Kursk quickly turning into debacle for Ukraine and the West.
The MoD reported today there are over 6000 KIA which means that at least 50% has been wiped out. All supply roads are blocked, Russian Aviation and Drone cover dominate, put it simply Ukraine have nowhere to go and are holding on to turf not able to defend. Casualties will likely climb above 7,000. Russia is flooding Kursk with reserve troops and Ukraine has no way to extract its soldiers and know slowly Russian mechanized heavy Units are coming in, where to for Ukraine in Kursk Zelensky will just be about holding to save face?

The farther from the front, the more delusional. The big offensive to the south was supposed to cut off Crimea. Ukr managed to cross the river and stalled for months. The British and American generals had big plans but were too theoretical.

The difference being a missle strike is localized. You shut down the power to repair the damaged area of the grid. As opposed to a storm causing random and widespread damage over multiple areas.

An Ukrainian soldier captured live footage of the impact of Russian drone flash strike, in a video of the clash that took place on August 11, but some of the footage was only recently posted around August 26, 2024. The intense footage shows a large armored column of Ukrainian Paratroopers, and trying to break through Cherkassky Porechny under fire from Russian Armed Forces. The Ukrainian soldiers were annoyed that the Lancet drone managed to penetrate the armor of a T-64BV tank of their comrades, even though they had tried to shoot the Lancet in the air with small arms. The tank initially tried to keep working, then caught fire. However after the attack, the Ukrainians rushed to protect the surrounding area.
Things then got worse for the Ukrainian or NATO armored column, and the Lancet kamikaze drone flew into another armored vehicle in their column, as shown in a part of video released by the Russian Defense Ministry on August 11. Several vehicles of Kiev troops, such as T-80 tank, were completely burned out with a huge explosion, and then completely destroyed. So far, until August 27, the next Ukraine-NATO armored vehicles are burning out on the good highway of the Kursk region. For more than a week, Russian soldiers have been repelling the attacks of Ukraine, which is defending its presence on Russian land, attacking waves of Ukrainian infantry and another equipment.
