      Hey Laura! Thank you for the incredible value and beautiful genuine energy you share with us.
      You make me feel very safe and able to trust what you’re tell us.
      I have a little question, you said at what point that there is no exclusivity, does this apply to micro and macro stock photography?
      As well, in the section about micro stock, you said that you can upload your pictures to many websites as long as they’re micro stock as well. Does this means the photo you once use for micro stock can never be used in macro stock? Do you have to remove it from the micro stock to be able to use it in macro?
      Also, I feel like a beginner in the field of selling my photos and making a living out of it, but I feel like I’m doing a good job already in my photos and editing all learned myself. I still have so much to learn of course, but do you think that in this case I should start already with macro?
      Thank you so much, very grateful for you ❤

    Hey Laura! Thanks for this video. I had so many photographers advice me against stock photography saying your photos are 'under priced'. I got into it recently because I thought, 'Better make 1cent from a photo than leave it in my Hard Drive without any potential of generating income' I started on shutterstock and just didn't bother about what I made (usually 10 cents per download) and boom! One day, a download of a photo got me $300! I thought it was an error but it wasn't lol. Question is, How did that happen? What sort of customer gives a contributor that sort of commission? Meanwhile the photo was uploaded as editorial, not even commercial.

    • @LauraBC
      @LauraBC  3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Yesssss! 😍 This is amazing to hear! Exactly! Many pictures will sell for very little but better than nothing at all right? From time to time, you will get amazing surprises! Well done!
      For me is the same, I sell for very little but many times I sell pictures for over $150 which is amazing!
      The main reason companies just pay cents for some shots, is because they have a monthly or yearly membership with the website. However, many companies don't have it so they pay more per picture.
      Another reason is when a company "locks" the photo. This means that they want more exclusivity for the shot they are buying and they request a temporary freeze of the sales. This way nobody else can buy it for a limited period. This costs them more money.
      Well doneeee! And thank you for passing by to let me know! Super good news and happy to hear them! Hugs from London and keep it up! ❤️

    One question tho: for the releases... if I shoot street photography, do I still need a model release? And what if in photo the face is not visible? Or if I take a pic of a bus (for example), do I need a release from the bus company?
    Would love to see a video (or a yt short) of you approaching to people taking stock photos...😅

    Hi Laura! You're a great inspiration and you've been of much help in my journey as a beginner photographer so far. I've been posting photos both on macro (Getty) and microstock, but I see that becoming exclusive with Getty means you can't post your pics on any other site, even though they are different photos? Are you exclusive with Getty or you can earn more even if you don't apply for exclusivity? I wouldn't want to have to delete everything I posted on microstock, I thought exclusivity means that you upload a set of pics only on Getty, but are able to upload other pics on other sites as well.. could you please help me with this info and your experience? Hi Laura! I’ve had this video in my watchlist for such a long time and now with some free time I’m glad I was finally able to watch it. You spoke about exclusivity with microstock websites… which I guess implies that Getty and Offset are exclusive (from one another)? I was just wondering how that applies to your own usage of an image. For example, if I have an image I really like and I have uploaded it to an exclusive site… does that mean I can no longer use it myself - in blog for example? Or does the exclusivity only apply to the agencies? Thanks again for another great video!

    Hi Laura! Thanks for your videos. Just so inspiring and informative. I have a question about Model and Property Releases. Do we need to get the consent even if we are not showing the faces or maybe just part of a person (only their hands and arms, or legs and feet, or their silhouette, the hair...). Same for property (someone's table, detail of a bedroom, a bathroom...). Thanks! 🙂

    • @LauraBC
      @LauraBC  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Rosana! So nice to hear that you like my videos! Thank you! :))
      If they are body parts you don’t need model release. As long as the model is not recognisable. :) For silhouettes is tricky because many times the person can recognise themselves. It happened to me once in a shot where the person was shot during a sunset. You couldn’t see his face but as long as the model can recognise himself / herself, you will need a model release.
      Same with property. If they are specific details and you don’t recognise the property, is totally ok. However, if it’s a designer chair or anyhow art, you need a property release from the designer/artist.
      I hope that helps! 😍❤️

      stockimage canvas Hi! I’m glad you enjoyed the video! :-) It looks like that at the beginning. I was just in macro stock as I was thinking exactly the same. And now I’ve just started in micro as well because people make huge amounts of money. I can even send you a screen shot of the income that a friend of mine does just in Shutterstock. A full salary from it. Could be discouraging at the beginning as they sell the pictures for extremely cheap but because of that reason you get a very big amount of downloads. In macro the income is super good but the sells are slower. Thank you so much for watching! 😊
