- This is a piece on Cape Breton fiddler Mike MacDougall. It appears to have been done shortly after his death. It has Alistair MacGillivray and Sheldon MacInnes discussing Mike and his music. It also features an outake from Ryan's Fancy TV show.
Mike was a good friend of mine. He was an excellent musician with a passion that encompassed music, people, and culture(s). He died way too young in many respects, however, his music lives on through his recordings and memories.
I love watching my great uncle Michael MacDougall play the fiddle especially when I'm drinking to bad there's no videos of grandfather Tim MacDougall may God bless his soul to all the people related to the mightiest Highland clan in the world the macdougalls our family motto is to conquer or die and I live by that
I'm looking for recordings of Mike -- I'm a cousin (my grandfather is Hector MacDougall) and I'd like to start putting together some of his works with the idea of having a site where people can go listen and learn about Mike.
I was fortunate enough as a youngster to see mike play and it left a lasting impression on me, and was a big influence on me as a musician... Since Mike was family, this is the least I can do...
mike was amazing as a fiddler I love listing to him wish I could hear more of mike's music good ol cape breton fiddleing.

Yes I have that recording as well. It's the only recording I have of him. Thanks for the offer though and iff you know anywhere else I might be able to find some more of his music , I'm all ears.
Bye for now.
That's a very curious and interesting bow angle. He seems to have done very well with it, and the tunes roll out lovely.
yes god love his is right
One person I heard playing cts of Mike was Dougie MacPhee a piano player from New Waterford. I wish there were more tapes of Mike kicking around. Fergus Obyrne and Dennis Ryan should have a few tapes of Mike also.
Great video, much appreciated.
Mike is my Great Uncle
It's nice to be related to him. I would have liked to meet him. Iff possible I would like to hear more recordings of him if anyone know's where I could find them.
