I was going to have the same issue with my 67' Australian mini, but Im just going to keep it stock and try to pull the front out. My grill and mustache are original to the car and my grill only has 1 screw on each side to hold it on.
Thank you for this video, it's the only one I could find like this, I've got a 94 copper which has a messed up grill so I ordered a new one and none of the holes lined up so I was going to go with a mk1 grill just to hide everything but I now think my best bet is to piss around with another grille and have more patience. When I fitted the whiskers I bought 3mm stainless metal threads, put them through the holes in the clips, then slipped the clips on the whiskers and poked the metal threads through the holes in the body. I tightened them up using stainless washers and nuts and they pulled in nice and tight.

something about that grill that just don't look right .. out of shape hence the large gap at the top .. also the ends don't match the mastache ..
