My grandmother gave me the best advice. Look at man's actions not words to know if he loves you. There are men who say I love you, but don't love you. There are men who don't say it but show you with how well they treat you. Most say and do show it. But actions not just words. If he cares for you when you are sick, includes you in his life some how in every way he can, respect your voice discuss things with you and makes life choices together with you, goes out of his way to prove to you that you are the prize he wants, he loves you. If he doesn't do those things, he using you. Even if he says I love you, he using you

@@theladyartiste6168 The reason i'm saying its in her favor cause of the law. Because she isn't on the Deed of Trust/Mortgage she doesn't have any responsibilities pertaining to the loan documents. That means he can't kick her out if he wanted and she doesn't have to pay financially. Just know when you live with someone as long as you receive mail at the residence you are a tenant but have no contractual obligations but enjoy the same benefits as the person on the lease or mortgage.

@@theladyartiste6168 Wrong that is incorrect. I worked in mortgage for 6 years and know the law according to that. You can't be evicted by another tenant. You have to go through the court process for that or you can sue for wrongful eviction. The court process can be costly and can take a long time. If you're not on the mortgage then you have no contractual obligations. You have rights when you live with someone in a house or apartment. People don't know their rights when it comes to that stuff.
So WE didn't buy a house. HE bought a house. And SHE is a tenant helping to pay the mortgage without a plan.

Born a little before that generation they started to call "boomers" or whatever they called, but yeah pretty thankful to have avoided growing up with airhead lol, even if I was I think I would still be as I am. I never drink alcohol and never smoke cigarettes, no drugs everrr, so that definitely also help. The problem with women is that when a man buys something with his money then that suddenly it is OUR not HIS when both are in a casual relationship and is she buys something with her money then that is HERS and NOT THEIRS.

When you live with someone you most likely will have bills in each others names so the court looks at the living arrangement like a married couple without the paperwork and they treat it like that. I happen to know this stuff cause i worked 6 years in mortgage.

What this young lady did was unwise. Unfortunately this may not work in her favor, if you notice she said WE as if she and another person purchased the house. I wonder if her money and credit went towards purchasing this house and that’s why she says WE. I hope she didn’t use her CREDIT & MONEY to help HIM purchase HIS house.

There's no reason a bank would run a person's credit if they weren't going to be put on the deed and assume responsibility towards the debt of the mortgage. She MAY have contributed financially towards the down payment, but we don't know that based on what's presented here.

Steve suggest she gets a quitclaim deed. I hope she realizes SHE can't just get one. Her boyfriend has to agree to it. If he didn't originally put her name on the deed and only HIS name is on the loan, it's only HIS house and that's probably exactly how HE wants it. Otherwise they would've discussed it and BOTH their names would be on the mortgage loan AND the deed on the first place! She can ask for a quitclaim deed now, but he probably not willing to do that. He may seem like does a lot for you, all half-way good guys will do something. But like Steve said YOU have too protect YOUR heart and YOUR finances. You said that after a year, neither inner of you has said first three little words, "I love you!" You raise action speaks louder than words. Well, ALL of his actions say, "I THINK I MIGHT love you, BUT I'm keeping my options open!"

This is one of those, young, dumb and in love, moments that can affect the rest of your life. This could get real ugly. If they get married, cool, but if not, eventually they either have to sell the house or someone has to buy the other out.

You assume too much here. How quickly you assume she's a victim without know the facts, simply because she's a woman. Now IF she's contributed towards the down payment of the house AND she's contributing towards the mortgage, then her name should absolutely be on the deed. But only if that's the case, which we don't know based on what's presented here.

He spent his time wisely, getting everything he wanted. This relationship has no risk for him, no wasted time for him. BUT for her? You're assuming she's contributing financially towards the mortgage or that she contributed towards the down payment. Neither of those facts are stated here. If she's done both of those, then absolutely her name should be on the deed. However, if she didn't contribute financially towards the down payment and isn't contributing towards the mortgage, then no her name shouldn't be on it.

Why does this generation have such a hard time with setting expectations? It's as if it's anathema to define the relationship or to have any traditional expressions of love and commitment - in this case just saying it is causing all this hand wringing. Some traditions have survived for a reason - definitions and labels often brings clarity. Let go of this 'anything goes' attitude and embrace your humanity - which includes the need to feel loved and to hear it. You're not weak or some old fogey for wanting, if not needing this.
