Merle Haggard - From Inside The Walls (Johnny Paycheck's Chillicothe, Ohio Prison Concert)

Back in the 1990's Johnny Paycheck was serving time over shooting Larry Wise in a Hillsboro, Ohio December 19th. 1985 bar incident. My friend Billy Don Burns who produced the concert along with Hank Cochran at Chillicothe's Correctional Institute. Merle Haggard gave me the DAT tape back in the 1990's.

Best damn singer ever recorded. That line about working in my bib overalls really hit home for me. The world lost two of the greats when Merle and paycheck left us yearning for real music. There will never be another Merle haggard. I started listening to him when mama tried first came out.and I have been a devoted FAN ever since. Todays country music just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Went to 3 of his concerts in my life when they were close enough to me that my old junky truck could make the trip. 1 in Clarksville Tennessee 1 in Paducah KY at the executive inn and 1 at metropolis Illinois on the river front by the gambling boat. I miss him.

How is the condition of the DAT tape? Would be great to hear it.

every moment of the event was captured on film and when all was said and done there were 14 rolls of two inch Ampax recording tape according to this takecountryback.wordpress.com/2007/07/05/paycheck-the-album-that-never-was/ it's out there somewhere. Hank Cochran decided to shelve the project!! There hasn't been any good Johnny Paycheck releases lately.
