    Ever wonder how to make your Invisalign treatment a little bit easier on your lifestyle? Check out this video for a few of the tips and tricks I share with my patients the day they start their Invisalign treatment.

    My name is Dr. Courtney Barry - known by my patients as "Dr. Courtney" - and I am a board-certified orthodontist practicing in New York City at my amazing private practice, Smile Pop. I am OBSESSED with all things teeth! Pretty sickening, huh?
    At Smile Pop, I like to think of myself doing the "fun stuff" - teeth straightening, teeth whitening, and even Botox. My tool of choice for creating beautiful smiles is Invisalign clear aligners and I gotta say, I'm pretty good at it! ;)

    Hi Dr Courtney! Love your video and thank you so much for the insight. I recently got my first trays, but I’m having so much difficulty getting the bottom aligners in. Any tips? It’s like I’ll be able to get one side in, but the other side won’t fit. I try forming it to my teeth shape but It’s still not snapping. Any tips you suggest I could do to make it better? Thank you! Much appreciated!

      Hi Jasmine! Ooo that's annoying! I would start with placing them a *little* on the front teeth to make sure you're not rotated too far to the left or too far to the right. Then, I would look as which side has the craziest looking back teeth (ie: out of place, really leaning in towards your tongue) and bend/snap/push the tray ALL THE WAY DOWN on that said. (So at this point your trays should be fully down on one back side, maybe a teeny bit on the front teeth, and "floating" up on the remaining back side). Be sure the you don't bend the inner/tongue side wall of the tray when pushing down on the back teeth. If you did bend it, simply bend it back out. Once one back side is fully down, the start working the other back side. Don't be afraid to bend the tray - they are more resilient than you think! Once you get the other back side down, then push down on those front teeth and you *should* have it. As you teeth start to move more and more during treatment it will get easier, but until then.... good luck! You got this! - Dr. C

    What if your not able to brush after eating a meal, is there any alternatives we can use before putting the tray back in?

    • @smilepop
      @smilepop  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Great question! Some quick tips that I love - 1) chew on some sugar free gum for a few minutes (this will get the saliva flowing and clean up some of the teeth a bit). Another great option - 2) rinse with some fluoride containing mouth rinse (I like the whitening mouth rinses because it whitens + gives a fluoride boost). Make sure when you get home at the end of the day you do a proper brushing though!

    I need a root canal but I also want to get Invisalign! Could I use the Invisalign first then get the root canal?

    • @smilepop
      @smilepop  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Technically yes, you can get the Invisalign first and then get the root canal, but if it were ME, I would get the root canal first as that infection of that tooth can spread/worsen/blow up in your face when you least expect it. So, I'm going to vote for: 1) root canal first 2) then Invisalign!

    With Invisalign after I've finished eating/drinking, should I brush my teeth immediately, as I was told it's best to wait at least 30 mins because it can damage the enamel. What do you advise?
    Also, is it safe to water floss immediately or should I wait 30 mins again?

    • @smilepop
      @smilepop  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi! Great question! They advise not to brush for 30 minute after you eat/drink because it takes 30 minutes for the acid in your salives to normalize (ie: acid from drinking coffee, acidic sauces, etc). If you eat/drink something that isn't really acidic, it's okay to brush right away. Another alternative is chewing on some sugar-free gum to help the saliva cleanse the teeth a little and the brush in ~ 30 min. However, I do think it's okay to floss right away! - Dr. C

    I got my aligners and like, no instructions. I have attachments on all my teeth except the molars. It took 3 staff to get my aligners in after filing down attachments and leaving red marks all over my jaw. Here I am home alone trying to get them in with no expertise. I had a very difficult time getting them out - took 30 minutes and a a broken nail. Help!

      Hi there! Try using a piece of kleenex and put it over the tray so that it's not so slippery. Use your thumb and index finger to grab the tray as far in the back as possible (ie: the last tooth), pinch the tray from the tongue side and cheek side and squeeze and lift. If you can do that to both sides (ie: bottom left in the back and then bottom right in the back) then slowly "wiggle" the tray off the front teeth. If you can only loosen one side, lift the tray in that corner and slowly "peel" the tray around the arch to the other side (similar to peeling a banana). Do not be afraid of bending or twisting the tray too hard - it will not break! Good luck! If you are still struggling in the AM, give your doctor a call and ask for a comfort check. - Dr. C

    I just got mine from my orthodontist and they look like the pic for the bad fitting aligners. What do I do? Or could it be that my teeth are so crooked I’m not going to get a perfect fit?

    • @smilepop
      @smilepop  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ooo - you might want to ask your orthodontist about that. Sometimes it's part of the plan, but sometimes it's a bad fit/manufacturing defect.

    Thanks for the tips, was thinking of getting these.
    I wonder, if fasting the whole day helps you get a quicker outcome? Like eating 1-2 meals only in the afternoon/night would fasten the process? Thank you!

    • @smilepop
      @smilepop  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The more you wear your trays, the more your teeth will move as programmed. When the trays are out (ie: eating many meals per day), the teeth relapse back to where they started, so in theory, the more you have the trays in, the better the next tray fits, and the more efficiently you get to the finish line! So I would say YES, you could save a bit of time! Good luck! - Dr. C
