was there an manual trim on those newest ones? i always see those rios hatch (the 2012-2017 one) in automatic and only has manual on some sedans in my country
This would be the perfect cheap hatch if they added the turbo powertrain from the seltos, added heated seats sunroof and premium sound system could call it the rio GT and it wouldn’t hurt forte GT sales if they detuned the engine by like 20 horsepower.
What you want is what I want, and Canada has it, well without the turbo, but the Canadian LX+ trim includes heated and powered everything, and you can get all that with a 6 speed manual. Europe also gets a rio GT that has a 1.4T

Bummer. Are there any plans to offer the manual in the future in the US? I think other countries get a manual...? Could be wrong on that.
I actually don’t mind CVTs. The regular ones. The ones with those “simulated shifts” need to be destroyed though
For anormal car and everyday drive, CVTs are actually the best option
Wouldn't that be incredibly wasteful to destroy that many production cars?
I cant stand the droning of an engine-CVT combo droning at 5.5K RPM while I'm flooring it to get to 70 on an on ramp thats too short. The simulated shifts break up that sound and are less annoying IMO
I’m a Yaris guy, but I’ve been in the market for a new car, I love the hatch back. So this seems to be a good option can anyone who’s owned this for over a year tell if it’s worth the trade?
They offer a manual up here in Canada on the LX/LX+, dont you guys get it?
I saw somewhere online that the future Kia Rio will be redesigned to look like the K5 from the front? Can anyone confirm this?
Thanks for the review. Does this have a rear camera that is displayed when the car is in reverse?
One irritating complaint about the vehicle: To change songs, you hit down on the paddle. You would think they would have it designed to hit up on the paddle to go to the next song.
I have a 2021 Kia Rio LX and the interior is essentially the same. Good little cheap cars. I love mine. Has pretty good pep in sport mode for 120hp
Love the rio I have a 2018 it’s basically the same the screen upfront is just smaller and not as new for the 2018 but very nice car can fit subs in the trunk who needs a trunk anyway? Wanna lower it and get those new wheels on and it look sexy now
PD: Excellent review
I like the looks of these, but Kia reliability especially with transmissions worries me. Anybody have any input?
I could see this being a hoot with a decent stick
No
The i20 N is basically that; a Rio with a good stick, plus the turbo 1.6L from the N-Line and GT cars.
Not nearly as fun as the FiST, but pretty close. Just not available in NA.
I have a manual 2015, it is fun! The shifter is kind of slick, the car like to be ruffed up!
Thank you 😊
I'm very interested in this car looks like a great option I just think the front view/grill is so ugly :(
Beautiful fricking car❤❤❤
In Spain it is sold with DCT not CVT
YES ! Very Good KIA = SUPER !
Awesome video like always ❤️
How's the ride quality? Especially around road bumps if u passed few of em
The start up. Sounds like Volkswagen T ROC
was there an manual trim on those newest ones? i always see those rios hatch (the 2012-2017 one) in automatic and only has manual on some sedans in my country
Needed this video thanks
in Mexico we have a 6 speed manual or 6 speed automatic
Is there a reason you don't take Hines Drive? You're right next to it.
the topher can you get your hands on a ford fusion? see what thats like
This would be the perfect cheap hatch if they added the turbo powertrain from the seltos, added heated seats sunroof and premium sound system could call it the rio GT and it wouldn’t hurt forte GT sales if they detuned the engine by like 20 horsepower.
What you want is what I want, and Canada has it, well without the turbo, but the Canadian LX+ trim includes heated and powered everything, and you can get all that with a 6 speed manual. Europe also gets a rio GT that has a 1.4T
@@monochrome_sea smh car companies always cheap out in america
@@brynnleahnayvieghlaykynnn6175 lol the would have been nice to have a gt Rio with a 6 speed manual but I don’t think that would ever happen after being a owner of Kia cars since 1994
Hi. Could you tell me if there is, in the middle of dashboard a flashing red diode after the engine is off???
If you just landed in Hawaii, two rental cars left in the lot, one is civic hatch back, and the other is this rio, which one would you go with
Whichever one is cheaper but in most case the Rio is gonna cost about the same as a Civic, So just get the bigger car unless you want a smaller car.
@@boygonewhoopdataZZ that's why I think many rental companies are going to invest a ton in these due to the fact that they are in the same price point and have similar specs
@@boygonewhoopdataZZ and I think in real life, we are more likely to come across that rental decision on these compact hatch backs than buying one.
@@boygonewhoopdataZZ Civic defo gonna cost way more nevertheless more expensive to rent
Do those cvts have a standard first launch gear and thats why they are so responsive ?
Ironic this car was made in Mexico my country and doesn't have the quality that you presented, what a shame for kia.
What is the ticking sound on the engine?? I have a 2013 kia rio and it's so quiet!
i can feel the road noise through this video
With all the inflation this kind of car will be $30,000 in 10 years.
Whut
Bruh I have the manual 2014 rio and boy it pulls out... you can go 160-180 km/h (which is enough) easily..
oh a car we can buy!
That sounds actually nice
Ok the kia rio went from 138 horsepower to 130 horsepower and now to 120 horsepower!!! Why just why? Plus I miss the 6 speed automatic transmission
Engine is not loud! Very quiet.
It has 4 wheel disc brakes. mazda 2 and yaris 2 discs 2 drums.
Compact? I thought this was a Subcompact? And wow over 2700 lbs for a subcompact car. That a 1990 Honda Accord curb weight. The 1.6 is smoother now? I drove a manual Rio years ago and it felt very industrial.. manuals in cars are only good with engines that like to rev imo. Still like the car since the market is so dry here. With they made a true sporty model.
3:35 integrated?
Question ❓ does the Rio come in manual transmission?
Does it have a CVT transmission or a 6 speed torque converter transmission?
Pls see description..
