You fuckin beauty I bought a house with a huge shop, and chopping my 750 spirit is something on my bucket list. Lots of tools to get, I'll add these to the list. Along side with all my carpentry tools. Do you think it's a bad idea to work on mechanical in the same area as a wood shop?
@@TJBRUTALCUSTOMS Question. I just cleaned my carbs on a 2005 Shadow 750 spirit. The float needle on one carb has a round rubber seal under it in the seat but the other carb did not have this round rubber seal. Is this normal??? Should I remove it or add a seal to the other needle as well. I do not want to put the bike back together just to have it run bad. What do you think??
@@TJBRUTALCUSTOMS The valve which I refer to as a float needle has a round rubber seal between it and the seat. Literally the seal sits at the bottom of the seat. The second carb does not have this. The bike runs fine except my fuel pump cuts off fuel once the bowls are filled and won't come back on. I assumed it was a weak pump til I seen this seal issue. Maybe it's making the needle stick or something. Also I thought maybe the last owner tried to fix a leaking seat temporarily and made the issue worse. I have rebuilt carbs for other motors and never seen this before. I really appreciate you help.
Learned the hard way to take good pictures when I had to take my dual carb off my shadow and then put it back together while working a job and raising a kid, took me 3 months and was the biggest pain I’ve ever been through
I went the completely opposite way on my vt600 build. It's one of the few motorcycles 1970's era a Vetter Windjammer fairing can be fitted on. I fabricated brackets to mount it along with the hard bags and trunk that came off the Kawasaki touring bike that stuff was still on in a motorcycle junkyard. I got it all for $100. Everyone around where I live and ride call it the Shadow Wing. A few weeks ago a Velorex 562 sidecar showed up on craigslist so I went to have a look at it. It had been pulled out of a barn and put on craigslist. $350 disappeared from my wallet with a sidecar in the back of my truck replacing it. I had to fabricate a sub-frame to interface the sidecar to my Shadow. After some dialing in it rides and handles well for a Hack. I love it! BTW you've got to off set the sidecar axle to bike axle exactly 8 5/16 of an inch lead to make it handle correctly.
I'd love to see you do a video on how to swap out the cables when switching to new handlebars. I want to get bars for my 750 ACE that have more pull back (like six bend or buckhorn bars) but the thought of having to replace the cables scares the crap out of me more than gravel on a twisty road. I'd also love to hear your opinions on different handlebar styles and which ones you think work best on a Shadow. I find the stock bars cause me to lean forward when I'd rather be leaning back in my cushy Saddleman seat.
Love your videos. Installed the custom tuning kit and velocity stack a couple of years ago and love it. Re: the 17mm Allen socket for the front axle. IIRC the opposite end of the OEM spark plug tool was designed to remove front axle.
For 17mm hex for the axle. You can always buy an $8 steel motorcycle axle tool from Amazon if you don’t want to buy a full hex bit socket set. They have 17mm and 22mm and 24mm and 19mm all four common axle sizes on the one tool. Both sides are machine to fit standard socket ratchet drivers OR if you have a 17mm, 19mm, 22mm or 24mm wrench you can slip that over an unused size on the motorcycle axle tool and just turn it by hand. Put one in your toolkit and you have all four sizes in a small package.
Beneficial information, thanks. Not do you have a video that shows gauges? For example, I'd like to put a shift digital indicator. But mostly I bought a 2007 Shadow Spirit 750 C2. And being unfamiliar I had an impossible time knowing if I had the fuel petcock in the fuel position. I was worried it was in the reserve position. There was no obvious arrow. And one would have to assume that the lever itself was the direction of the point. Turns out in this skinny lever there was an arrow. I just needed my reading glasses. Anyway, the next gauge or lights all come on at some point.... at some point?!! neutral is obvious, each time u start, the headlight hi beam was easy when turned on. The oil and temp are still out! I really really need help... There's not a lot of good mechanics in my area and I don't know much about my VLX 400. It runs sluggish, it reaks like petrol/gas.. I think you mentioned something about rear pistons not moving? And I don't know if it's because of the carbs or if it's the AFP. After 15mins of riding it feels as if it's no longer flooded or it feels like excess fuel got burnt out or off and then it feels like I got more power. I don't want to ride my bike further because I'm scared I'll do more damage to the bike.
I’m not to proud to admit that I’ve used a hex shaped metal/cold chisel inserted into the hex bolt to remove a vt600 front wheel 🤷🏻♂️. It worked a treat but yeah.. the 17 mil is the way to go.
After removing the airbox and all other junk you said to throw out ..what do I do with the air cutt off valve? Do I plug the black stems or leave them be??? Please advize
I have a 04 Honda shadow VT 750. I have ridden motorcycles off and on for about 15 years. I now have this one as my soul transportation. I know nothing about the mechanics of a motorcycle. I am somewhat mechanically inclined and can be told or shown something and can pretty much do from that point forward. I have a boyfriend (mechanic) and 2 sons, and I guess they really do not care if I live or die because you would think they would look my motorcycle over for me, or tell me what to look for or suggest I take it somewhere or SOMETHING! But I am on my own. Thats fine, because I have become quite accustomed to doing just that. Getting to the point, Is there any way you could direct as to what pre driving mechanical things I should check or be aware of that could potentially cause life altering damages if not addressed or found before driving? I have a phobia for some reason of the motor seizing up and well that would not be good if doing highway speeds, I would imagine. I also have these multiple black hoses dangling underneath the bike that have a beginning and an end I am assuming, but one end is not to destination. I have no idea what these hoses are for? Any way you could maybe direct me as to where I could obtain that information. My bike seems to be running on the warm side. The temp. light came on once or twice but only when it was sitting and idling. I found the radiator cap and couldn't see any coolant, so I thought it may be good to be some in it. It took nearly a half of a gallon bottle? Does that sound right? So I was looking for the oil filter and plug to do a much needed oil change and that is how I noticed the dangling black hoses and I also found the coolant reservoir. It was empty. Would that be indicative of possible coolant leak somewhere and could that be linked to the mystery dangling hoses? I know I have all kinds of questions. I subscribed and liked and you said I could ask. Okay I replaced the rear and front tires. All of a sudden my back tire is flat. and I thought it felt really different and even looked to see if one of them was flat a day or so before it was visually flat. They are brand new tires and I don't see any nails what would cause this. SO yeah basically any guidance on upkeep and safety stuff would be appreciated. My life could very well depend on any information I can find out for myself.
Sorry for the late response, it took me a long time to read your post!😜 If your engine ever seizes up you should pull in your clutch and coast to safety. The hoses sound like vent tubes for the carburetor(s) and should be hanging under the bike. As far as the coolant goes just check the level every time you go to ride for awhile at least. It only takes a couple seconds and it is way easier to deal with a flat or low tire at home or work than on the road. Damn now I have to go read your post again to see what I forgot!🤣🤣

Don't want to damage aftermarket lights as they seem alot thinner wiring, any help will be very much appreciated.

How to wire a 600 video?
Hi, I have a 1992 honda steed nv400 which I'm turning into a bobber, I've hit a problem as I can't seem to find what gauge the wiring is. I've been told16,18,20 and so on but I'm nun the wiser. Don't want to damage aftermarket lights as they seem alot thinner wiring, any help will be very much appreciated.
Can never find any vt500 specific stuff 😔
Do you know what the exact center to center handlebar spacing is for a 2002 shadow vlx 600. Is it 100mm or 114mm? Wanna get new bars but can't find exacts online and I don't have a manual

Do you sell any jet kits for a 92 1100?
@@TJBRUTALCUSTOMS No worries. It's not a popular bike, but It's my first shadow build.
I carry that snap on screw driver with me everywhere along with my Kershaw knife. I feel naked without either one
hi guys, which motorcycle do you recommend for a project? Honda shadow 1100 vs yamaha v star 1100
Dude rly? You’ll love the Shadow. I almost bought a Vstar, but these Shadows got that sexy “chop me I don’t wanna be made in Japan anymore” reputation. Harley guys don’t give me shit unless they are the “hey look I’m not in a car duurferduur” types. Cause my 600 will smoke any Harley for about 200 yards…and it ain’t a pretty pass for the Harley either.
Do you have velocity stack dual carb Honda shadow vt 600 1995 ??? And if i buy once cen you send this to Poland????
