    As someone who owns a Z-80, I can tell you this is an extremely perfect representation of this amp. It's something that has to be experienced in person to be believed. This is truly an amazing amplifier on every level. Another masterpiece from the doctor and a wonderful demo from Peach.

    And the amp in this video is now in my living room, thanks for the amazing customer service guys!
    This thing is incredible. All the chime and bark of a Vox with the warmth and body of the bass end of a Fender but stays ultra tight. Also has some fender sparkle in the top end!

    Wow John record quality recording the tone sounds amazing. One of your absolute best sounding video's thank you so much. But as you stated nothing beats hearing the Z 80 live and in person.

    For me sounded great through that gibson: so much clarity & power! But then I love Vox amps too. Thanks for sharing 👍

    If I ever had an amp company, I'd hope my amps were good enough to earn a Peach demo like this. Dang what an epic amp and epic demo! Killer playing as usual John.

      They both use heyboer transformers and EL34 output tubes, that could be a part of it.

    I think I get the idea, 4 x 20watt power amps wired in parallel?

    I considered this amp as I've been looking for an AC-50 or AC-100; most survivors that I've found have seen better days, and I really don't want to be searching for vintage parts to keep it going.
    Not finding any amp builders besides Z making anything close to new AC-100 amps as a regular product.
    Soooo..., I'm having a custom AC-100 MkII fixed bias amp head made, based on the OS/167 schematic (fourth generation schematic) which was the final revision, and used on AC-100 amps built from '67 to '69.
    This was the Vox response to the Marshall Super Lead "Plexi", which I already have a 1959HW. The Fixed Bias amps hit a full 100W and peak even higher.
    Also planning a custom 4x12 open back cab similar to those made by Vox, minus the midax horns, using 4 x Celestion Cream alnico speakers.
    Cheers!

      How is this "voxy" with EL34??

    • @zoomzoom3950
      @zoomzoom3950 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@pb25193 that's the Vox design from 1967. it's not like the AC-30 / AC-15. It's more like Vox's response to Marshall SLP.

    • @pb25193
      @pb25193 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@zoomzoom3950 so does it have the vox chime or the marshall crunch? I wish for voxy chime... The demos do sound voxy,, and I'm surprised.. how?

    • @zoomzoom3950
      @zoomzoom3950 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@pb25193 it has both; as I push the volume it goes from chime to crunch; still cleans up with guitar volume. Treble and bass are interactive, lowering both boosts mids.
      it's not going to give the AC-30/AC-15 chime though.
      it gets dirty fast, around 11 o'clock on the volume, then the saturation builds. I can change the PI from a 12AX7 to 12AU7 to get more clean headroom.
      I also have a Marshall 1959HW (SLP) but haven't compared them yet
