CONGRATULATIONS QUEEN OMGGGGGG!!! So how’s the dorms/ living situation? What recommendation would you suggest which you’d recommend that would distinguish themself amoungst other candidates? Ie. One’s repor with the professors, essays, and anything that will come to mind.
Can you give some advice on how to make friends in law school? I am a 1L and only a week in but people are so NOT friendly to me! I feel like I'm a normal person, try to say hi to everyone I have met before and ask how classes are, etc not be too pushy but just curious and usually that has worked for me in making friends but the environment in law school is just NOT IT! People I literally have had full convos with during orientation or whatever straight up ignore me or look ahead when walking past me, wont even make eye contact. I actually cried in the library this morning because I feel so lonely and confused! Ahhhhh I don't even know. The classes are great but outside of that I'm just bumming.
I’m really sorry to hear this! Do you know if your school has a reputation for being less “collegial” in general? Luckily, you’re only a week in so there’s plenty of time for things to turn around, but I know it’s still very frustrating-especially when you’re actively putting in effort. First, though, know that people who are treating you like that aren’t people you want to be friends with anyway! Second, if your school has a courtyard or something where a lot of foot traffic happens, I’d try studying there when you can. Hopefully someone will introduce themselves if they notice they haven’t spoken to you before. I’d also try to notice if you see anyone else struggling to make friends and try to make a buddy that way. One person can really make all the difference! And once you have one friend I’d recommend going to social events together like bar review or whatever else your school has to meet other people who are hopefully more friendly. again I’m so sorry and i really hope your experience gets better!
