I think it has to do with time and relevance, you know? Like I’m sure any film depicting the creation of the atomic bomb near the time when it actually happened would’ve been viewed as a far more politically relevant film but in the year 2023 we have the benefit of a more objective view of the 1930’s and 40’s. Whereas with a film like Barbie, the issues of patriarchy and self identity are more relevant right now and so do not have that benefit yet. You’re right tho. With these two films side by side it does shine a light on how irrational it seems when people react to a film that they deem more “politically relevant”. Especially when they can just wait a dozen or so years then say to themselves: “Huh, maybe I was an idiot for reacting so strongly to a movie about a doll?” 🤔🤦🏽♂️

Well I’m sure if you look at a movie with a conservative agenda you’d find some very, very unhinged tones from all the liberals. But honestly the Barbie movie sounds like it is disgusting.
the 1st one actually has so many memorable music numbers that as a kid I loved and ofc will still kinda love now but I genuinely want to know what two grown men who were in their mid to late 20's when it came out and actually see if they think it at all holds up as a teen coming of age movie or a musical, as good as the songs are there's no amazing, Greatest Showman-esce shots, and ofc now im in my early to mid 20s and have no intention of sitting down to watch a movie made for pre teens.. BUT I will if James and Maso go on another Twilight trip of just being confused about what is going on

Barbie definitely got five stars from me! Every time I talk to someone new about it, I hear a different take away and have so many amazing conversations with people, and to me that’s a sign of a good piece of art.

Well the movie is trying to spread a message they don’t like though because they don’t actually have an argument against it and just don’t like what it’s saying, they don’t want to watch the movie and accidentally change their mind.
The sound of freedom wasn’t meant to be a cool movie where cool stuff happens, it was meant to spread awareness about very bad real world issues. And it does just that.
We’ve already HAD multiple movies that depicted that form of child trafficking, that actually made a change. That movie showed nothing new, and only served to promote a shady organization

Well the movie is trying to spread a message they don’t like though because they don’t actually have an argument against it and just don’t like what it’s saying, they don’t want to watch the movie and accidentally change their mind.

The sound of freedom wasn’t meant to be a cool movie where cool stuff happens, it was meant to spread awareness about very bad real world issues. And it does just that.
We’ve already HAD multiple movies that depicted that form of child trafficking, that actually made a change. That movie showed nothing new, and only served to promote a shady organization
