brilliant looking spider PROFF, the way you got her to walk was amazing and showing how calm the spider was. thanks camera lady another great video to the collection.

God damn... I've had an absolute fear of spiders for 25 years and happened to come across this channel the other day. Since then I am so fascinated by spiders, I can not describe how interesting I have become these creatures through your videos for me. The way you teach how to handle spiders has given me a completely different image of these uniquely beautiful individuals and I want to thank you for that. Thank you also for the time and love you devote to these creatures and thank you for the videos!
me too, i find dave is like bob ross. I often have him in the background just chatting away, so peaceful. Another great channel is Tarantula Kat, she's pretty cool too. i really like it too because i like to learn and i can learn at a distance which is great!
1:39 - 1:49 Inspecting the wood .... *calculations*.... Yes. Had a good laugh today. You and camera Lady should swap places and let her do a funny rehousing just for 1 episode. Keep the good stuff coming
I've noticed with my A. purpurea is kind of a "diva" as much as a spider can be. She (too young to gender, hopeful guess) will scrunch down at the first feeling of discomfort. Its great because it means I can make sure Angel has conditions that are good for her, but it also means as a new T keeper I'm kind of obsessively watching her. Maybe its an Avic thing? Its just like my first cat, Lotus. She's a little princess and as a adolescent one day started making all the signs of kitty medical distress. I dropped everything I was doing to take her to the vet ASAP and she had... like one flea. The very beginnings of flea issues. This cat still plays me like a fiddle to this day and I'm relieved Angel doesn't have the emotional/mental capacity to wrap me around one of her little fuzzy legs.
I've always been scared of spiders but your videos are absolutely amazing! Also this one specifically, she was actually kind of cute! And has adorable little toe beans at the end of her legs!
The comparison of the versicolor enclosures was very interesting. I’d like to see more of that kind of side by side comparison between tarantulas of the same species or genus.
My versi grown on sling - webs up the top and collects leaf litter and moss to plant in the web! Sometimes, he/she will sit on the top of the cork bark (we made two or three pieces into a tree shape).....or can be found making web tunnels x
I'm so glad I work 3rd shift cause I'm allways up for your 1am vids lol. Beautiful T! My C. Versicolor never used its cork bark either. Just webbed ( a lot) on the top of its enclosure!
Brilliant rehouse Dave, and that Avic huriana is absolutely beautiful and in superb condition as are all your spiders 🕷. Another brilliant job by yourself and camera 📷 lady, thanks for all the wonderful videos you keep putting out. 😀.

Absolutely gorgeous T dave I was a bit worried at 1st when she walked on too that stick cause she did look really all hunched up but she looked fine having a drink 😊 👍
You have inspired me to start keeping a small tarantula collection again after 6 years of just having two tarantulas. Only this time i want to try my luck at breeding as it's super interesting watching your breeding videos. Thank you Sir!

Keeping is all personal experience mainly, it's good to get an idea of how to care for a specific species but most of the time people just use what works best for their spiders needs overtime, Every T is different. Hope this helps! :) (My Personal experience; Mine likes a good spray around once a week)
The problem is there is a world of difference between wet and humid, you can have a dry enclosure that is humid and this is what we aim for 👍the bio-active set up will allow this 👍
Yes, keep them humid but dry (Not bonedry - that is a desert climate). I always have some moist deep down in the substrate, but the surface is rather dry. If i have condensation on the upper panes i let them dry out and i never spray them, just pour the substrate and give them a fresh waterdish or i hang them some drops in their net if the sling-pot is to small for a waterdish. If you have no cross ventilation, then clamp a piece of something under the front glass - they can't stand stifling air. This is how my Avis and renamed Avis survive - and they all survived until now. 😉👍
The issue is not humidity per se but lack of ventilation. What kills _Avicularia_ is a moist, stuffy enclosure. I live in a warm, humid climate, so I just use a water dish for my Avics, and they are thriving. If you live in a really arid environment, you might consider adding moisture to the substrate to raise humidity -- but make sure the enclosure is well ventilated (ideally top and sides). Live plants are another option for raising humidity, although I personally stick with fake plants, because that is easier for me.
What a treat to see one of the more rare Avics. She's a beauty indeed ! Forgive me for asking this, Dave, but by pushing her rear with your thumb to encourage her to move forward, did you not come in contact with its urticating hairs ? As as I'm aware, Avics and Caribena deliver them by rubbing onto the annoyance, kind of like how a porcupine releases its quills onto a too curious predator. Just wondering. Stay safe and thanks for sharing :)
Great content as usual! I like color pink so avics are my faves :) If I could request, I really like to see a content about the spider that lived in hoops? Currently binge-watch your channel and saw the feeding video you had that included the hooped spider (sorry, don’t know the name) and I really like to know more about it. Even if it just a 2-3mins video. Many thanks!
It Wass an Orb Weaver and sadly she died when I changed my heater I think it dried the air out to much in my room and she passed during a moult👍I will look for another 👍
yes please! your content right now is truly educational. but I would not say no watching other spiders living in different habitat. Please keep posting for more! and I'm sorry about the orb weaver. thats sad news, really...
I love how you showed the 3 Avicularia (Caribena) living different ways. I'm a big fan of the Psalmopeous, and their cousins. So, I've got 3 each: Psalmopeous pulcher, Psalmopeous reduncus, Pseudoclamoris gigas, and Tapinauchenius violaceus. I set them up in my standard arboreal sling enclosures (inverted AMAC) boxes, with the bit of dirt in the lid, and some web anchor points hot glued to make a canopy. 1/2 of them did what they were supposed to, and webbed up the fake plants in the top. Makes it easy to wash out the water bowls and such, which I keep on the ground. A few are just nomadic, no real webbing, they just wander around like their in a rock band. But a few of them (2/3 Tapinauchenius, and one P reduncus), decided they're fossorial now, and won't climb up to save their life.
Ever thought about making a sorta "milestone" video with 25k subscribers showing some of your favorite beasties, enclosures, and maybe some background about how you got into the hobby? I think it'd be cool!
“He touched the butt” 😆👍🏻 also love the rehousing videos, especially when you get to see the giant white knee just chilling at the entrance to their cave 😍😍.
Great video as always Dave, love Avics, really need to add some more to my collection. Where do you get all of your Exo Terra's from? I always seem to struggle to find the 20x20x30cm arboreal ones.

I am so seriously wanting to get another spider. I had a Hattian tarantula when I was a single fella.. she was a great pet. She would crawl on my arm and sit on my chest and just relax when I was watching tv.. But today I would have to get momma drunk enough to allow me to have one.. That is not the problem (she's a one beer dunk).. the problem is how to keep her drunk to let me keep it... ;-) thanks so much I again David.. I know I say that all the time but I do appreciate all you have done in the last year or two to teach me all about spiders.. I got mine to over come my fear of them.. Another great video ! Where’re is that spider found in the wild usually? And one more question: and it’s probably a silly one but I’m gunna ask it anyway! When you get spiderlings, why not just put them in their “adult size” enclosure right off the bat to avoid numerous, potentially dangerous, rehousings?
A spider in too large an elcosure will be unable to find its prey. They find things through vibration, so if something is too far away they can't feel it. in addition, lost prey can die and then rot, leading to unhealthy conditions.
@@fanbid that makes perfect sense. And I suppose when they are super tiny tong feeding is kind of out of the question too. Thank you for the response!! 🙏🏼👋

I was wondering if you sometimes get mushrooms in your enclosures. If yes, do you do anything about it?
Very occasionally normally if I have added top soil , I dont worry about them they are not a danger to your Ts👍
@@daveslittlebeasties Ok, thanks a lot for your response and the reassurance :) I had some mushrooms growing in an Lp enclosure recently and was getting a bit concerned since that didn't happen to me before 😄
Hello Dave. I was told to ask you how are the Elephants?? also where do you get your moss from ? We are in Redbourn and want to know the best places to get it. My girlfriend says it looks lush 😊. Alex and Sam 👍👍 also are you going to the Bristol convention in august ??
Hi there , I get most of my moss from forestry blocks 👍 and yes I will be going to the Bristol show if you see me there make sure you come and say hello😂👍 and where did you hear about my elephants 😂😂👍
@@daveslittlebeasties went to #wrigglies in Leighton buzzard as Sam wanted to do a bio tank like yours for her pink toe and ended up chatting about your channel and got told about your Elephants 👍👍
@@AlexBauldry 😂😂😂 Wrigglies is one of the best reptile shops I know of , I guess you was talking to Julian 😂😂 we go back a long time as spotty teenagers 😂😂😂😂❤️
Are her hairs thicker at the tip than at the base? It almost looks like there's dew settled on the ends. I'm sure it's not but it has that effect. It's also interesting to see the bumps and knobs on her leg joints... very clear anatomy and very cool!
Its more a light refraction on the hair 👍
