Independence pathway for Bougainville and media freedom in the Pacific | The Pacific | ABC News

In 2019 the people of Bougainville voted unanimously in favour of independence. After years of stagnation, leaders from the Autonomous Region of Bougainville met with the PNG Government in Port Moresby recently for talks to map a pathway towards independence.
ABC Pacific PNG reporter Belinda Kora spoke to The Pacific about the meeting outcomes and why both sides have agreed to allow a UN moderator to intervene and fast track the management of contentious issues that have stalled the post-referendum process.
