I'm from Birmingham Alabama and there's I think it's a civil war cemetery in Leeds Alabama back behind the lake purdy property and yes that's the way it is spelled purdy they keep it behind heavy metal gate and lock.

David Kaigler:Coming here in 1837 from South Carolina, where he represented the Lexington District in the legislature, he bought 1,827 acres of land from Sampson Gibson in the 11th District and there built his home where he lived the remainder of his life. Born in 1788, Major Kaigler served in the War of 1812 as a corporal in Captain Robert Cannon’s Company of Infantry. He was married to Miss Barbara Craps and to the union were born 12 children. Five of the sons served in the War Between the States. He developed a vast portion of the land in the 11th District and at one time paid taxes on 3,000 acres. He was a very liberal contributor to the needy and served his county in many different capacities. His original home was burned.

Missus, I'm always glad to see you've tagged along! And thanx for peeking into the hollow tree! Near me, one of the California Missions has a small marked cemetery adjacent, & when I took my two Grandsons for a tour about 10 years ago, the youngest was peeking into one live tree with a hollow just like the one you showed. He called me over to show a headstone that was inside. The tree had grown around it!

Unbelievable! To find a gravesite in the mist of the woods with the most beautiful ornate fencing I’ve ever seen. Sure hope “ the Robert” can find some history about those that are buried there.
Have to admit poor other Robert sure works hard to find these great cemeteries. Robert I hope you’ll help him out on his new contract come July. He deserves a lot more recognition.
Thanks so much “the other Robert”. Your very much appreciated. ♥️♥️😊👍👍🌟🌟🌟

J.M. Kaigler has a CSA pension Application on line in the GA Archives. He says he enlsited in 1863 and served with Company B of the 2nd GA State Troops. He was at home on wounded furlough when the war ended. He was wounded in battle near Kennesaw Mtn. Georgia. He was discharged from duty in Macon, GA on April 26, 1865.

These Kaigler and Craps people are my relatives. In my tree! Amazing for me to discover this while watching Sidestep Adventures! I have accompanied history, newspaper articles and a pic of David Kaigler. I wouldn't know how to attach them to this site. David Kaigler fought in the War of 1812. Kaigler purchased around 1000 acres from an earlier settler and tax records show he eventually had 3000 acres.

At the end of my time on this precious Earth
lay me down beneath the swaying trees of my youth
where I and my friends made worlds of our own
    and my children, the same
    and their children too.
Let me sleep among the ancient roots
    and the loving memories
as time plays out in its own way
and when all the kith and all the kin
have moved away to the far corners
let me be forgotten as all men are
save to God and the ancient, swaying trees.

Your videos came up in my feed a few days ago. Thank you for taking the time to go hunting for old cemeteries. In case you're interested and you haven't had time to look up the Kaigler family, I did some research. The Kaigler family was distinguished in the area and I found the following:
There is a photo of the headstone with the fencing from 2014 that is posted on Anna Barbara Craps Kaigler's memorial at Find A Grave, memorial no. 18264020. It was neat and clear of brush and missing the fallen tree so it looks like from 2014 to present no one has been taking care of the family cemetery.
It also appears from records that none of David's sons died during the Civil War, except for maybe one, David Saylor Kaigler, who lived in Sabine, Texas, and died there in 1864. However, no records were located showing he served during the Civil War. There was another son who died in 1856.
William B. Christie (1841-1894) was Anna Elizabeth Barbra (Kaigler) Christie's second husband. William B. was the nephew of her first husband, Benjamin G. Christie, who died in 1862. Benjamin is buried in the Kaigler family cemetery and William B. and Anna Elizabeth are buried at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Terrell County, Georgia.
Most of the other members of the family are buried at Cedar Hill Cemetery; Texas, and South Carolina.

Robert, God bless you for your videos. I truely appreicate al;l the hard work you do in finding these old places in your neck of the woods..Robert, YOu stated in part of your video that there are not as many trees as there should be, and i'm thinking maybe cause thney were cut donw at some point and new growth took over?? But awesome that you and the other Robert can just look at certain trees and know aobut where old forgotten cemeteries are. amazing to me. Great that your wife, is willing to go with you to help document it all. I agree you need to redo your contract Robert, and Make it better on you. Have to remember you are a older than the other robert, and you should NOT be paying for his gas. You deserve a bit more respect than what you get. just saying. That's an awesome find. I can't believe it's hidden in the woods like that, and not even maintained. On an old farm in Salem County, NJ, which was made into a state park, I found the grave of the guy who built the farm. He was born in 1694 and died in 1759. There's a brick wall around the grave, with no gate. That was built in 1808 by his great grandson. All that information is on a gravestone that's embedded in the wall.

I know I have asked previously but how is it that these souls are so forgotten they are buried under leaves and trees? Why is it these cemeteries are not preserved for other generations. Their stories must be so interesting and their memories deserve to be respected and remembered no matter how old. These people literally fought for what they had and people just drive by not knowing there are lost souls there. This is more than heartbreaking. Thank you for bringing their lives to our attention. I hope they know how much you care for them from heaven.❤

I just love seeing all these amazing places. Really enjoy both of the Roberts. You have taught me a lot through your videos. Thank you!! I do have one small request for other Robert. Would it be possible to no chew gum while recording? It makes it hard to understand you at times and i know i miss some information you have shared that is important!
