I love that your biggest weakness in school is your kids strongest subject! My husband and I had AWFUL experience in public school. Personally, I struggled with all subjects. I am excited about homeschooling because I have the opportunity to not only learn these subjects again, but see how my children grow to love the subjects I hated. 😅 PS. I have a question. Why would you homeschool your children if you struggled with every subject? You don’t think that would be a disservice to your children?
@@BaileeBrooklyn That’s a great question. I felt that way in the beginning. My answer to that is NOPE!! Not at all :) I have curriculums and time on my hands to learn the subject with them, if needed. We go through it together. I have great joy in learning with them. My children are only 6 and 3 and already they’ve taught me so much. There are co-ops and there are tutors. There are endless amounts of opportunities for success. We learn together and grow together as a family. As an adult I’ve had time to understand my learning style. As an adult, I can comprehend a lot more now because I’m not being forced to do anything. It’s taken me a lot of hard work, dedication, and perseverance, but I have a Bachelors Degree in Health Sciences and I am a Registered Nurse. I got myself through school, pregnant with my first baby in my first semester of nursing school, birthed her a week before finals, and came back 1 month later and aced my finals. The things they teach in school aren’t as important as the things we do in real life. Sure, we do the basic book work, but we do real life skills every day. My children will know how to change a tire, change the oil, manage money, cook every thing we eat from scratch, grow that food from the earth and preserve it, fix things, solve a problem, do things themselves instead of paying someone else to do it. The list goes on….. My children will NEVER be lacking, they will flourish (as they already are) and it’s all thanks to their parents. My weaknesses will be their great strengths. Somewhere I saw a quote that calling mothers Supermom is a cop out to providing them help. It's a way to "compliment" without understanding that they may need help, or they are stretched to keep everything together. It really resonated with me, I have 4 kids, and sometimes that is manageable, sometimes it's a lot. You have every right to deflect requests/demands and focus on your family without offering to extend your care to others when you need to.

I agree, Sarah. As parents, after protecting the innocence of our children, the next step should be to remember that we are raising children to become adults.
I am a woman of a similar age to your parents, we don’t have children but that doesn’t stop me loving your channel, your approach to life and it’s many seasons. I’ve learned a lot from your channel, more specifically listening to you and Solo. Best wishes from London, England.

I admire your attitude, life skills and positive attitude...3 cheers to you and family! I only see love and positive coming from your channel! Keep up the great job of life. God Bless you and yours!!!
Thank you for not shying away from hard questions. One of my favorite parts from your discussion today is about our precious children keeping their innocence.
Hi Sarah, I've really been enjoying these "Ask Sarah" videos even though I can't think of questions myself. It's been fun hearing other people's questions and your answers.
9:49 the best thing you can do is provide a great foundation and background for your children. Even if they do rebel or choose the wrong path, they’ll have that foundation and background that helps them get back on the right path, and lots of children don’t have that. You’re doing a great job!
Your advice is appropriate for all moms . I have a family member with 3 children and is in a constant state of overwhelmed. Thank you for your perspective ❤
"it's okay to be who i am and not compare myself to every other pastor's wife" AMEN. also the word about your mom and women's ministry is so encouraging. i wish more people felt comfortable busting out of the mold that humans have set up and leaned into what God has gifted each of us with, made us each passionate about, etc. help your husband FOR SURE and don't forget that God has given you specific things that are beneficial for the body that extend beyond that and that he (or anyone else) can't provide.
I just subscribed to your channel. I am so Blessed to to hear your channel. I have 3 grown adults all daughters, that are all moms themselves now. I home schooled my girls. You are truly Blessed to be able to school your children. God Bless you and your family
Dear Sarah, I appreciate your video very much and your prospective on raising your children. I grew up in North Carolina during the 1950 and 1960s. My parents were outspoken against segregation in our community and church. Our family faced physical threats on our lives. We are white Americans. My parents never shielded us from the reality we lived in. My parents through their courage and example gave me the strength throughout my life to stand up and embrace love and justice for all Gods creation. I never shielded my daughter from the hate and prejudice in her world. I hope I gave her the same strength and courage to stand up. Blessings
Hello Sara, love your videos! My kids are grown up with kids of their own. I have the tendency to spoil my grandkids, but through your videos I have learned I can spoil them and yet guide them as the world (and people) are changing. It's hard for me to accept how things have changed and I really had to take a step back and think about how they might think the way things are now, is normal. That is really scary for me. I thank God a lot for bringing me to your channel. I had prayed a lot for God to put good Christian people in my life. I never imagined it would be through You Tube. I watch a lot of good people with good values. I'm afraid to comment on anyone's channel. I had a bad experience with a person being hateful and it shocked me how horrible someone can be. No matter what I said, they twisted every word I said. I'm so grateful you and Solo are able to look past the trolls and continue to do the work of the Lord. We all need good people like you and your family in our lives. I love you and all your family. You all are amazing people! Thank you for sharing your lives, advice, cooking, the love for the Lord, everything! God Bless!
@@BaileeBrooklyn I think I can answer with a short answer although this is not my discussion. There are a lot of changes to our culture which are not according to God's plan for us as human beings. Father in heaven set certain rules for us to protect us from falling. He set boundaries and standards that are not to be twisted or changed around. I agree with Lynda that there are a lot of areas in our culture, worldwide, that is not normal as to what the Bible tells us to be/do. I won't go into examples; this is not the place for it and I think christians know what this is about; I do not want to offend anyone either. Study the Bible and you will know..
Thank you for sharing your experiences and for listening to the questions and answering them so helpfully , you’re doing a great job , please look after yourself and take time to rest and heal , you are a very important person to many of us out here , you help inspire and also seem to manage to be so upbeat and positive at the same time , thank you so much Sarah xxx❤

16:30 we have a rule at our lake house that kids can’t even walk down to the water or dock without a ski belt or life jacket on. I always tell them (when they protest) that I know they can swim, but it’s hard to swim when you have a cramp or your unconscious. We watched a young child at our neighborhood pool slip, hit his head, and fall right in the pool in front of us. He knew how to swim, but he was unconscious. He swallowed so much water in just the few seconds he was in the pool, that they didn’t think he would recover. Luckily, he did, but things can happen in a split second, even with adults watching, so we make them wear safety belts and jackets at all times.

Hi Sarah, it may be a little old school….my parents used walkie talkies when us kids were out n about on the property or in the neighborhood. I even had a set of four for my family. Sure saves on multiple cell phone lines.
Sarah, what a great way to start my day! Our visit is always fun. Sure hope the transition is getting calmer for y'all. I know moving is tough, but when you've got a yard full of kiddos, there lots more fun! I pray God blesses y'all today and every day! Love from SC!!
I think you are right. When I admire women of large families, I am in awe. We were 5 kids. My parents had a business. My mother handled all the office, phone and business end. My father did the work and business end. My mother also was a "stay at home mom". She made bread, gardener, canned, sewed our clothes, cooked home made, scratch every night. How she did it...I do not know. When I see others do it, I recognize the hard work, sacrifices, long hours, stress, fun, etc. I am in awe of them. My mother made/too her home maker/mother position seriously. I agree that most people mean it as a compliment and we get the amount of work/dedication put forth.
You are so right Sarah! Some things are just not age appropriate. Children need shielding until their brains are mature enough to digest certain topics. It is the parent's job to decide at what time a certain child can handle what information. I love that your children are getting such a wonderful childhood. They are so talented and creative, too. I am sure that is due to you not allowing electronics to babysit your kids.
I don’t have a large family but I did childcare for several years before I had a family of my own and in lots of ways they are the same even though they are definitely different. I have 3 kids now and my oldest is almost 15 and my youngest just turned 1 and I don’t know what I would have done without my oldest helping me throughout this time. She has been such a help and God definitely knew what he was doing when he spaced my kiddos out. I can totally see how having a big family would look like so much work to someone on the outside but on the inside it’s so much easier because you have older kids that can help, play, etc with the littles.
I'm a huge fan of the word NO. I have learned that no matter what your life looks like, you need to be your own best advocate and do not need to explain why you can't or won't do anything. It can be hard but I really try to not give others excuses or try to complain because they very likely may not understand. Sometimes it's unavoidable and you have to let others know what is going on to a certain extent but I really feel like I shouldn't have to give excuses or explanations if I feel overwhelmed as it is. If I can/ want to I will if I can't I can't. Lol. Which reminds me that I should do a block schedule for the summer! 😁
I work for a home warranty company and I definitely agree with Speed Queen washers. I’ve worked here for almost three years and I’ve had one claim involving Speed Queen.
I freaking LOVE my Speed Queen. I inherited it from my Mom & she told me I'd love it. I really like laundry. Hate dishes but give me laundry or a toilet to clean & I happy.
Dear Sarah I love you and brother Solo ❤️ I love your ways you have and are raising your children !!! You have laid a solid foundation under each of them ! In a very uncertain shaky world you are raising them right !!! My children are grown and my youngest son referred to some kids he seen that were very gothic and dressed in all black and these he said took drugs ? But he made the comment that you could tell they were not raised right ?!? To me this was a side ways way of saying he knew he was raised right !!! Praise God !!! But I let him know to pray for these children for their salvation and for other children ! I always tried to have Bible devotions with my children , raised them in church and my date nights were actually our family nights ! We taught them Gods truth and His love and we did not allow them to stay over night with friends that we haven't met or talked with ! My children are precious gifts from God and I cherish them though as they're grown and two married I don't get to see them as I would love so I'm so thankful for all my time with them as they grew up ! Amen ! God gives grace for the level that is needed Amen !!! I love your family Sarah and I am very blessed by you and I love to get to share with you through your videos !!! ❤️🙏 Gods Will be done in your family always !!!
Ok, so I am usually one of those silent watchers, who rarely comment. However, after ordering and reading your parenting book, I've finally gotten chance to sit down and catch up on the videos. I have to tell you, you have every right to have your struggles and need of encouragement no matter how many children you have! We all need encouragement. You are my encouragement! I only have 2 kids (6 and 12 years old) who each have their own struggles in life, and my life gets overwhelming and I don't know which way is up or what I'm doing. I lose focus of things and things get out of control. Your videos give me hope and encouragement because I stop and go "you know what?? This lady homeschools also. She has 11 children, she works in the church, she has a job doing TH-cam vidoes and other things, and now she is homesteading! She is making it! If she can get and hold her life together with 11 kids, there is hope for you and your 2 kids! You can do it!"....and that's the truth, because you are human and I see that. I know we don't see much at all of your life, especially the bad or the struggles, but you guys are holding it together enough for us to see and know that it is possible. So those of us that are completely overwhelmed can look at you and go you know what? If she can do it, so can we! Thanks for being that pillar of hope and possibility for some of us out here. We really appreciate it.
I have raised 5 children all grown up now, I hear what is going on with children at the moment, scary. Just let kids have their childhood, your an adult for a long time. Love watching from Australia x
I'm a mom of 5. I have one boy and 4 girls from age 26 to twins age 19, and I believe that since God gave us the children, He also gives us the grace(strength, patience ect.) to take care of them. The more children, perhaps the more grace and with that grace, He has the "way" we should raise each of them understanding every child is different. Even now, I ask the Lord to give me His plan for me as it relates to my kids. Parents will always be parents. ❤
I started using Sonlight per your recommendation almost 2 years ago and we LOVE it! We were doing their evaluation and I was floored by the amount of books we’ve read. More importantly our relationship with one another is so much closer.
Yes I agree on the non electrical / digital washing machines.. thr most expensive fancy front loader we ever bought died in 8 months , thr cost to repair was a lot! And they couldn’t even diagnose the actual issues so we would have had to replace several electrical components to find thr problem. Now we go for the most inexpensive dial control machine. I think our current one cost around $300 and has lasted 7 years- this is with a family of 10 using it
Ive heard about the SpeedQueen!!! Someone at Lowe's told me about it lol. (They don't sell those). I have an OLD kenmore all rusted out from the frame and im saving for the SpeedQueen. I don't want to go too far backwards in longevity/quality from the hunk of metal that continues to work all rusted out that i have now.
The thing is, regardless if you "shelter" you kids or not, they will rebel in various ways due to sinful nature! I didn't grow up as a Christian and had free range, and still had a rebellious attitude sometimes. Our job as parents is to disciple our children in the ways of the Lord and that includes protecting them from things and not to expose things until the time is right. Kids do not need to be traumatized at 5yrs old by certain images or words.
Something that I’m struggling with and had never considered, is the kids at church being the bad influences for my kids. As they are hitting the youth ages and youth groups, there is so much of the worldly things, disrespect, and just subjects I NEVER expected them to be exposed to and it’s been a hard place to navigate.
I parent my younger kids completely different then my teenagers. I want them to have a proper framework. However, sometime after 13, we start to deconstruct various viewpoints and situations. We pray hard to. I pray they walk in a manner worthy of the calling Jesus has placed on them. I see good things in my big kids. I see how they protect their younger siblings and that is a win for us.
I grew up on a homestead and we could go play as far as we could still see the house. As long as the house was in view we were good. The pond was too far like at your home so thankfully the kids cant go to the pond out of sight of the house. We had no bell but when the big yard light which was a sensor light like a streetlight and it lights up alot cuz it is up high-you should get one-when it came on at night is when we had to go home or else.We would run home try to beat each other there.
I heard something when my daughter was little from another mother, that "A child can go sour, regardless of how good your parenting is". I was a classroom mommy, choir parent for her choir, etc. I was very attentive and hands on. She is bipolar, so my daughter put me through hell for many years. It's great when "going sour" DOESN'T happen, but l've heard of many cases where kids did go sour, even with being raised in good parenting. But kudos to those lucky parents who had smooth sailing. Be blessed.
Thanks for the book recommendations! I love reading historical fiction books too since I started homeschooling❤ Public school history textbooks were so boring 😴
I've felt overwhelmed as a mom of 3 many, many times. I don't think it is fair to tell a mom who has many more children than I that the reason they feel that way is because of the amount of children. I still (even with 3 teenagers) find it hard to do a lot of things outside of my home.
You're an AMAZING mom and person. You have so much patience, dedication, and resilience. You have so much to teach everyone and I'm so thankful you're here. ❤
Sarah, You and Solo, to me are the epitome of great parents and how to raise great human beings! You do so much and are very attentive to each of your beautiful children and it shows! God Bless you and you whole family 🙏🏻🕊✝️🌸♥️
Love our speed queen! Also bought mine because a budget repair man suggested it after a stupid electrical chip board died in my expennnnnnsive Samsung set and the chip board was no longer available a year later, so I’d have had to buy a new machine anyway! As a family of almost 13 too, it’s the best! I also look for old school style machines if I’m buying used … I want an agitator, knobs, and a deep fill button, please! Side note… Made 2 Homeschool is awesome content! Great encouragement! Even as a seasoned homeschool mom, I’ve found it great!

I can relate to the woman expecting her 8th. I have 7 and my oldest is 9. I also dont know anyone with more than 3 children in real life and all I ever get is people saying I shouldn't have had my kids. My friends and family with 2 or 3 kids can talk about feeling overwhelmed or exhausted ect and it's fine but if im ever tired or to busy then I hear that I shouldn't have had my kids.
17:48 I truly hate that answer !! "Stop having kids" I just don't get why people say that!!! They are a gift from the creator !!! They are a blessing its your family. If you want a big family, have one! Why must people stop others from making little angels for! I myself is pregnant and I watched a video of a man driving his wife to the hospital They didn't make it to the hospital they got pulled over for speeding casue baby was coming out and the male officer who helped deliver the baby when baby was born in the cops arms the first thing he said to the mother was how many kids is this she said 6th baby and the cop goes "yall need to find a better hobby"🫨☹️🥺😨 my heart broke it just think that was so inappropriate people should have as many kids as they want if that's what makes them happy!! Sarah I love your videos! I been dying to make you a video.l about a religious question in regards of my family❤ just trying to build up the courage ❤😊😅 god bless
We were 4 girls growing up in a christian household with no TV, lots of play time outside but also a lot of sheltering (example when we went out with friends my dad would make us do a breathalyzer when we came back) and we all rebelled 😅 Only 2 out of four have come back to Christ but non of us are in church anymore. So at least for my family there must have been something too strict because my sister has an social anxiety disorder since she got into public school.
There has to be a balance of love, grace, understanding, training, and discipline... If its all discipline and not enough understanding and love it equals rebellion just about everytime... I grew up like you, no tv etc... all five of us... but we all love our parents and are good friends with each other still... There is almost 13 grandkids between us now and we're all getting together for July 4th this year, just to be with our parents. We aren't all the same nor do we all see things the same, but we never became rebellious over how our parents did their best to raise us... how they felt God wanted them to. ♡ Parent can only do their very best... as I am trying to do my best now... ♡♡
I recently worried about the safety of your children. I think it was the first day you took the ducks down to the pond and they all decided to run under a large bush and all your little ones jumped right in and started to scurry them out. Suddenly my brain saw snakes everywhere. Nebraska has 27 kinds of snakes but only 4 are poisonous. 3 kinds of rattler and the copperhead. If you haven't already, please teach everyone what they look like, how they behave and how the kids should behave if they see one. The buddy system is the best. I love you guys, stay safe!
I love your answer to the question about big families and not having enough capacity to help outside the house. I have 6 kids and I don’t know any other large family moms that I’m close too. You have such a great mindset and it really helps to hear another mom say it’s ok to go back to basics or not be able to do it all in certain seasons. It’s 100% true that if you complain to small family moms they say don’t have anymore! Thank you for sharing such great wisdom!

God Bless!
Hi Sarah Great 👍 Great Video ❤🙏✨💫You’re A Beautiful Blessings to us ALL 🙏✨💫
Thanks for sharing!
Can you explain how you think the things that are changing isn’t normal?
@@BaileeBrooklyn I think I can answer with a short answer although this is not my discussion. There are a lot of changes to our culture which are not according to God's plan for us as human beings. Father in heaven set certain rules for us to protect us from falling. He set boundaries and standards that are not to be twisted or changed around. I agree with Lynda that there are a lot of areas in our culture, worldwide, that is not normal as to what the Bible tells us to be/do. I won't go into examples; this is not the place for it and I think christians know what this is about; I do not want to offend anyone either. Study the Bible and you will know..

The wash machines from the 80s actually washed clothing. The machines now I have had no luck with. Great video. Mary has a wonderful channel also
Yes retired whirlpool employee here any low line washer, and dryer are the best less electronics are better
Absolutely electricity for your summer kitchen is the best way to redirect the surplus. A great way for the whole family to benefit from the blessings you received
Although I’m at the end cycle of life I so enjoy your videos. I feel like I know you. I love you and Solo and your children. It’s so refreshing to watch your family. You all show your love for each other and your love for God. I’m always on the lookout for your videos. Love in Christ.
I love Mary from Mary's nest! She has taught me so much kitchen wise and about traditional foods. Glad you found her you tube channel. She is a wealth of knowledge! ❤😊
Thank you Sarah! God bless your family!

😁Thanks for the mention Sarah! And hi y'all👋 Made2Homeshcool is the name of the online community. We're here to serve all homeschoolers but influenced by a team of Christian homeschool content creators. Please let us know if y'all have any questions!

There’s a lad6 here in uk has 22 kids, she seems so relaxed with them she’s amazing
I am sooo proud of those couples and families that HOLD TO THE TRUTH OF GODS HOLY SCRIPTURE...
Keep lookin'up sister for our redemption is soooner than we think....much 💖💖💖💖💖💖 sent to you all....❤💞💝💖
We, too, love Sonlight!!!! My favorite is, Burying the Sun.
Hi Sarah, it may be a little old school….my parents used walkie talkies when us kids were out n about on the property or in the neighborhood. I even had a set of four for my family. Sure saves on multiple cell phone lines.
That's cool...we have some that the kids take too and it really helps.
Oh, girl, I get it. I just had abdominal surgery today and I’m definitely feeling it. Im 41 and it is a little tougher than my last surgery at 35.
It’s so refreshing to see how you raise your children to debate ask questions to form opinions love your flogs ❤❤
I didn't think I was going to like your new Ask Sarah videos, but I really look forward to them! Thanks for doing them!
We bought a Speed Queen washer and dryer for our new home for the same reasons you stated.
I work for a home warranty company and I definitely agree with Speed Queen washers. I’ve worked here for almost three years and I’ve had one claim involving Speed Queen.
My Speed Queen is 14 years old and still going strong!
I freaking LOVE my Speed Queen. I inherited it from my Mom & she told me I'd love it. I really like laundry. Hate dishes but give me laundry or a toilet to clean & I happy.
We are raising two young grandsons. I love these videos! It’s funny how much you forget as you get older not to mention how much has changed.
I totally agree about the historical fiction!! I had no idea how much I enjoyed those either!!
I love this segment. I'm learning and being reminded of some things.
LOL! I am 65 years old, and I have learned A LOT from Sarah!
I tell many people this...more grace as your family grows. 💯 Absolutely
@@ShardaLaSala Yes ma'am!
We bought a used speed queen washing machine and love it!
So many good resources in this one!!!
Hello y'all some times life is just crazy but by God grace we go on sounds like family life too me
I started using Sonlight per your recommendation almost 2 years ago and we LOVE it!
I think our current one cost around $300 and has lasted 7 years- this is with a family of 10 using it
That's awesome!
Love the question answer sessions
Ive heard about the SpeedQueen!!! Someone at Lowe's told me about it lol. (They don't sell those). I have an OLD kenmore all rusted out from the frame and im saving for the SpeedQueen. I don't want to go too far backwards in longevity/quality from the hunk of metal that continues to work all rusted out that i have now.
Y’all work so good together❤
The thing is, regardless if you "shelter" you kids or not, they will rebel in various ways due to sinful nature! I didn't grow up as a Christian and had free range, and still had a rebellious attitude sometimes. Our job as parents is to disciple our children in the ways of the Lord and that includes protecting them from things and not to expose things until the time is right. Kids do not need to be traumatized at 5yrs old by certain images or words.
I read chapter books aloud to my 1 year old childcare class before nap daily
I love reading out loud to littles especially children’s poetry or adventures
I finally broke down and bought a Speed Queen. 7-9 year warranty and works like a beast.
Wow. Love this. Blessings
Hi Sarah, thank you for sharing!
i agree 100% about the washing machines I love the old school washing machines
I so agree that we need to preserve the innocence of childhood. We have plenty of years to be adults!
Sonlight made my now seniors and 9th grade children great readers..they love reading..
And we to a lot of living history audible everyday ..
Be blessed.
Hey Sarah!!! 👋🏻 I have that same throw blanket behind you. :) It’s my fave & so so soft!
Love your thoughts on church and family!
Thanks for the book recommendations! I love reading historical fiction books too since I started homeschooling❤ Public school history textbooks were so boring 😴
one of the troubles with being a Mom and you have surgery. You don't you have time to wait to heal. But you need to take the time.
really loving these videos, as a fellow pastors wife, i relate so much!
Love these videos. Thanks for sharing and as always stay safe and God bless love ya Nancy
Sarah,
You and Solo, to me are the epitome of great parents and how to raise great human beings!
You do so much and are very attentive to each of your beautiful children and it shows!
God Bless you and you whole family 🙏🏻🕊✝️🌸♥️
Sonlight does look great! We are trying a few literature based curriculums this fall and I'm so excited!
Side note…
Made 2 Homeschool is awesome content! Great encouragement! Even as a seasoned homeschool mom, I’ve found it great!

Mothers of small and large families experience seasons to their lives. When saying no to something….let people know that in your current season you have to pass on something….But reiterate that this is a season, you may be interested at a later date.
I watch Mary's nest to she is so clever, I made her cream cheese from yogurt last week and it turned out great, used it to make a New York cheesecake, and I will def be doing that again. xoxox

Hi Sarah, How sweet are YOU to mention me in your video!! I was so happy to hear that my kombucha video helped you!! That is wonderful to hear!! And I am now so happy to know you and look forward to catching up on some of your videos. It's always such a joy to "meet" other ladies who are on this traditional foods journey!
And I was thrilled to see that your family has a host of other channels to enjoy! I see a lot of binge watching in my future!! LOL!!
Thank you again for mentioning my channel!

Thanks so much for your comment Mary. I know you gave me the courage to jump in and try making my own kombucha, so thank you!
@@OurTribeofMany I am so humbled that I was able to help in a small way! Love, Mary
Thank you for the book recommendations! My kids love reading but it is a struggle to find appropriate books.
17:48
I truly hate that answer !! "Stop having kids"
I just don't get why people say that!!!
Thanks for sharing
One thing I've learned from life is God never gives you more than you can handle
YES I waaaant them to have that ... children are missing on childhood now. I use to think I was crazy for saying what you just said Sarah
We were 4 girls growing up in a christian household with no TV, lots of play time outside but also a lot of sheltering (example when we went out with friends my dad would make us do a breathalyzer when we came back) and we all rebelled 😅
Only 2 out of four have come back to Christ but non of us are in church anymore.
