I've driven the truck without AVC and it's a handful on 8s. The AVC will help with the truck's tendencey to torque steer on hard starts. I run min around 40% steering with 0 on the throttle. One other thing I noticed: the SRR is much harder to control on small jumps. I've broken more things going over little stuff than the big air. It jumps really well when you put some distance between it and the ground 😎👊👍 I'm glad you got a chance to test it a bit. Like you said, it's not for everybody, but I sure to love mine. I bought this truck l love it so fun to drive had too upgrade the hubs a bell crank steering to aluminum since the plastic parts broke but considering the weight and speed of this truck it's understand great vid as always thanks

I love the look of this rig and of trophy trucks in general. But honestly, I love sending something more. So I'm probably out on this style of solid rear axle setups with the long suspension arms.

RC cars all have one thing in common and that is limitations every car out there will not do everything and everyone wants out of an RC car so you have to pick a vehicle that suits what you want to do I have a Losi Super rock Ray and it is absolutely a beast,I also have a yeti XL along with the TRAXXAS X Max truck along with TRAXXAS 4x4 slash, in fact I have approximately 50 RC vehicles and they all do something different so in my opinion the joy from this Hobby comes from being able to enjoy yourself with what you have and not what someone tells you ,you shouldn’t have???

He's not really driving it properly. It only bucks up when you aren't jumping it proper. I have both the SBR and the SRR and they both jump excellent if your driving it right. He needs to maintain a steady speed until halfway up the ramps then mash the acceleration followed by letting off mid air. In the video he is just giving it acceleration constantly not really timing anything. Not picking on the guy or giving him a hard time I'm just explaining where he's going wrong so he can reprimand it and learn from it.

Do you think if you did something in terms of balancing the chassis with lead weights or some sort of weights to counter the ass end kicking up like it does , would it jump or fly with a more level attitude ? Or would it be worth it to you to even try it because you seem to be happy or satisfied with the way it handles as it is ? I am considering getting one but that bucking characteristic bothers me ! Great Vid! Really want to know where you'd run something like this. I have a cheapo, toy-grade model like this and I can just run it on grass and the street. Would you run this on a sand course? Did you set the sway bars to the out most side holes? One of the vids showed that and he said it made a big difference in handling and lowering the chance of it flipping on turns.
Offcourse you get a thumbs up! It is such a beautifull vehicle to watch. But that back axle kills the ride. Is it the unsprung mass that makes it donkeykick all the time? It didn’t tork lift the front, that I had expected. I would forgive it in an instant. Man that car is great to watch! And this track is epic too!

Love you and your videos! I think you would benefit by hooning that thing like you usually do! ha, but man oh man, I certainly understand why you're not! You're driving timid and you're afraid of the throttle here, whereas (and you comment on this yourself) you need the throttle to keep the front end up when you're in the air or the back end out around the bends (to powerslide instead of traction roll) and that thing is/would be a doozy at the bmx track. Granted, you need to be an r/c ninja like @richduperbash to drive that thing at pace and then mash the throttle to keep it upright, but the catch 22 is by driving timid and trying to avoid calamity, you're just increasing the likelihood nose-dive taco'ing off the booters or of traction rolling into oblivion . Either way, its a beautiful rig that's rather expensive and i don't blame you one bit for driving with a bit of reserve !Again brother, you're the man and i love your vids!
I agree. Most of my breakages come on small jumps where it becomes to hard to control. Get it in the air and it glides. I've pulled single and double backflips with the SRR.

You need to be on the throttle as you come off the jump to keep the weight transfered to the rear to stop it donkey kicking, if you let off a little at the peak of the jump, that is when it goes wrong 👍

I know now and I will say that that thing can jump and I mean good you have you get it tuned right and it doesn't take much but that thing jumps better then them all you just have to spend some money to get it unbreakable but it's possible and I've done it

You're not measuring you're throttle timing properly before running off jumps. Keep a steady speed up until middle of the ramp then mash the acceleration, Then let off while mid air. This should help eliminate the rear bucking up

If you have seen the video about it a week or so ago he mentioned that the usual track is no longer an option since the new club has banned RC cars on the track

It's the Seth running video where I explain why that track is off limits now. It's actually been dug up, so not only can't you get in there, the jumps have been destroyed for the new layout and resurface.
@@AussieRCPlayground Really sorry to hear that. Sucks for you and also for your viewers that watch your videos as a benchmark of one truck against another. Seeing how the handle and drive with the same driver in the same environment. Made it very easy and nice to see how one did vs another.
Yeah, it sucks big time. But my luck had to run out some time... I've been using that track for years as it was abandoned, so now a BMX club have taken over it, so it's off limits. Which isn't fair because it's a public facility. But such is life, I'll just have to find a new location and try new things. I also have my own ramp, so I can always use that if all else fails.
After watching this Vas I realise ill never buy a rock Rey.

Driver aids/ avc or the traxxas thing... waste of time. Hate it. It’s on my Xmaxx and I always have it turned off completely. Takes control away from u and dies make it easier to crash imo. Vas!!! Give it some man!!!!😆😆 slow approach then gun it! Fun to see but for me it has a fair bit more to give in the air. Typical solid rear axle thing though and agree it’s not the right habitat for the rock Rey at all!👍
I don’t use on XMaxx, very good on the UDR though
i have the losi rockrey and its a bit of fun but as the xl if you go to fast into a curve it rolls over and thats very anoying. I would not buy it again.

Everybody is different. Rock crawling is extremely popular and I think it's boring af. I'd rather watch paint dry. But I understand why it appeals to many. It's just not my thing.
