    I like how you are riding uphill, and casually talking, at speeds I can only reach on a flat road, and very quiet. Being in good shape, too. There are so many levels in this sport.

    I did dirty Mulholland on a cross bike with 35mm cx tires and it was fun, but I had the wrong gearing and wider tires would have made it way more comfortable over some of the rutted main road. The side trails I saw seem to be at least 2in tire territory, which would be perfect on a wider tire gravel bike or XC bike.

    So I know they're real tour-y videos, but maybe add just a real tiny overlay for speed in the bottom corner? You don't have to use watts if you're not comfortable sharing even though it's generally on Strava, as far as producing those overlay videos either Garmin Virb (works with Wahoo) or even GoPro have great software for this. Since you obviously produce with cuts it'd be best to export the full video file, line up and add the data overlay and then just produce the video the same exact way you do now except you'd have tiny data overlay in the corner for us! =)

  • @carlstatham594
    @carlstatham594 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Looks absolutely great. But I am not seeing the wow of it all. I admit 50% of the time the rain, potholes, wanky drivers etc make life annoying on this side of the pond. But then the lanes, the hedgerows, the smell of the harvest, cycling past treasured pubs you want to return to, tea rooms in ancient cottages, the chiming of melodic church bells on a Sunday, castles and then ending in an old pub for a pint ....... If that was there with a few bits of heat, yeah OK. I apologise for the negative, but I'd drop those houses for an old house in the Kent countryside with a pub with a fire and steak and ale pie a couple of minutes away ..... that's life. Wet, cold, old with a sprinkling of brown beer, occasional warm days and happiness.

    I am an avid cyclist and car enthusiast. Love to ride hills, up and down, and drive twisty roads. Haven't ridden or driven Mulholland since I am on the East coast. I have, however driven Tail of the Dragon in the Appalachians. It is mountainous, but I would never ride it and spoil the experience in that Mecca for car/motorcycle enthusiasts. Same with Mulholland. Conversely, I would never drive the extreme hills (up to 15%) of the Berkshires in Western MA, Franklin county, since it is a cycling Mecca.
    Have some respect, my fellow cyclists and car enthusiasts, for each other. Yes, you are legally allowed to spoil the joy of each other, but ...

That may or may not help 👍 BTW, I’ve ridden for 15 years and never used a saddle bag. I’ve always just put an extra tube in my back pocket. It wasn’t until I saw Phil using one that I finally relented. PS if you’re looking for a saddle bag from Orucase, get the bigger one. I bought the smaller one and a tube and two cartridges are tight fit. EDIT: I’m wrong. Doesn’t mention his camera setup in his equipment credits 🤷🏻‍♂️
