Thanks you so much for this Analysis, I am French and I have a homework of this poem, but I didn't understand this poem and you explain very well. Merci :D
Tomorrow, i will be at the table when company comes. Nobody will dare say to me "Eat in the Kitchen" then. Langston Hughes convey how things were doing Slavery and how things will be after freedom. therefore, i can chose as to what i want to do as opposed to what i am made to do....They will see how beautiful i am and be ashamed. They will see me for who i am (A Man) and embarrassment will consume the Oppressors.
I did this project 4 years ago, in high school. I apologize for missing some references. You're free to, and I encourage you to, add your own commentary if I happened to miss something.
Hey m8, what Gina most likely is referring to is Walt Whitman's poem "I hear America singing". Langston Hughes poem is regarded to be an "answer" to that, or at least an addition, by some people. Be that as it may - you did a great job on that analysis and it helped me a lot. Kudos for that. Greetings from Germany.
Thank you so much for such a useful analysis.
