Why enjoy any secular media at this point I mean you seem to think everything is somehow sinful when it really isn’t, also when it comes to this game why couldn’t they make it a whole new IP that way it would be at least somewhat different
There are two answers to the whole “Why not make this a new IP” question. 1. This was the only way we could get a Majima focused game. RGG studio is very against making a game where the protagonist is an active member of the yakuza for the entire duration. They see that as potentially endorsing the life of a criminal. Remember, Majima was under Sagawa suspension in 0 and on the way to quitting the Tojo Clan (temporarily) in the Majima saga. Also, Majima’s story has pretty much been over since 0. Kiwami 2 Majima saga was really only made so that fans could stop whining about the missing Makoto closure. So when making a game where Majima is the protagonist, what do you do? You can’t have him join the yakuza again. Infinite Wealth shows that he would not be able to reintegrate into Japanese society. Naturally, the only option left for a Majima focused game is to give him a new start somewhere else. Luckily, RGG already has a whole Hawaii map from there previous game that they can use. 2. The Like A Dragon (Formerly Yakuza out here in the West.) games have long since found their own identity. The games are not one thing, they are an amalgamation of different genres and ideas. That is why we can have zombie, Samurai, or pirate games. While they might occasionally return to the serious crime genre in other games like Judgement, RGG studios are more interested in creating fun games that tell heartfelt stories. If you are looking for realism, this ain’t it. Whether you like the change in style is up to you. But in a world where we have tons of copy paste First Person Shooters, bloated and boring Assassin’s Creed type open world games, and a million ultra serious Oscar winning movie games that are cool the first time but are not actually that fun to play, these Like A Dragon games are a breath of fresh air.
