- Aired Friday, 6/17/83. Grant makes plans to meet with Fletcher again. Edward wants to know why Jimmy Lee is still hanging around. Holly tells Luke she will blame him if Robert is dead. Jimmy Lee & Edward start to bond. Ruby, Alan & Holly question Ramsey on what his rescue plan is. Luke makes Holly a promise. Robert gives Monica a sign. Grant has a flashback. Natalie and Ruby help Luke & Brock with their plan. Grant meets back up with Fletcher. Monica gets brave with Vince. Luke & Brock make their move. Lila interrupts Jimmy Lee & Edward (I love Lila's comment about not being senile).
I dont' care what was happening in the foreground of that scene. Alan running in and lifting Monica up in the air in ambrace was EVERYTHING!!!

I remember watching this back in 1983! I was at the end of the sixth grade!!! Stayed in my mind . . . and it is amazing to see this again! (The beginnings of DL Brock . . . when he was still a nice guy)!

And THIS would be my favorite moment with Monica in this little storyline. Yep.
Luke did it! He saved the day. And today we discovered his committed patricide and matricide as a kid. I like this Luke a little better. Being bad is overrated, good people are more important.
Thanks again for posting these eps. The ending was so hokey, lol. Then Monica and Bobbie getting pushed to the background in their own hostage s/l while reuniting with their loved ones... of course all the focus is on Luke. Outside of Scorpio the PD was kinda useless even in 83. Lila was was a beautiful woman.
You are welcome. I did very much hate in the 80s when certain characters took a backseat to what TPTB thought that EVERYONE wanted to see. A lot of the missing episodes contain my favorite characters for me the stories I enjoyed the most was the drama, romance and the true to life scandals and life situations not the over the top storylines. Not knocking the characters involved in the adventures the characters were cool it was just the stories I cared the least about.

Luke & Robert Really dominated the early 80s. Then it was Frisco & Robert Late 80s . Luke really got on my nerves in the last 2 years 82& 83 until he left at the end of 83 not to return until 91 as Bill Eckert. 😮
Brock’s movements make no sense. He’s right behind Luke and does nothing to help, showing up some 25 seconds later, even after the guy was subdued by Luke and Robert. Maybe he was looking for some award on the wall that would stop a bullet? Oh, wait…

Doesn’t anyone in Port Charles have a TV? They show tv news crews at the hospital but no one has the tv on. Side note i always thought Robert and Monica should have had friends with benefits type friendship. When they were both without partners they’d meet up for drinks or dinner and end up in bed and then carry on as friends.

All of her scenes are on the missing episodes. There are 3 missing episodes coming up in which her mother dies but we have the clips from them so look in my description form the titles on the 6/20/83 part 2 episode.
The writing was so superior vs. today. The dialogue is so much more interesting and varied and scenes will shift focus mid sequence. Today most scenes are very static. Most scenes have 2 actors and the blocking is static too. Scenes are as short and the dialogue is incredibly predictable. The 2 actors per scene rule makes it so much easier to direct and write and block so that more episodes can be produced per week but the result is such a dull product.
I agree! Stories were so in-depth back then and HISTORY was important!

@@GHRickLesley They just had so much money to spend back then compared to today. They could have more actors on contracts, they could also call more in as recurring a lot more often. One of my closest friends used to be a makeup artist on the set and they would even pay her a bonus for being an extra at a parade or at a restaurant. She used to love when they had all the disco scenes.
Original Edward would be gone in 1987 . Jed Allen would play the roll. David Lewis drank too much for real offscreen and he began having serious health issues . So much so that he couldn’t continue as Edward by 1987-88 they had to hire Jed Allan to start playing him . David would attempt to return only to again have to give it up because of health issues. Ultimately John Ingle would become the permanent Replacement for David Lewis . Jed Alan & Les Treamayne would play Edward . actually Les Tremayne payed Edward in the late80s . Jed Allen stepped in for John Engle for a short time.
Luke is an A1 a-hole.And nobody arrests Luke for interfering???

@@juliemnm8273well he also got the commissioner shot and she is 100% correct like would’ve been arrested immediately after the window incident and charged with police interference as well as pretending to be an officer

Ridiculous all those people walking around. The cops would have cleared all civilians out of the area if not the building. But it makes a good story.
Luke charging in on a gurney with a pillow was the cheesiest ending plus he was no hero he got Scorpio shot! Luke was also overrated actor.
And what would you have done, wait until Ramsey and his crew decides to come up with an idea?????? No chance of that happening.
@@juliemnm8273you know police officers are a lot more competent than this ? In real life it would’ve been entirely shut to the public with swat teams on site ready to move in at all moments and they would not have allowed civilians to get that close.
It was very unrealistic and cheesy there is dramatic liberties and then there is just being dumb .
