I enjoyed this - just as I enjoyed working with Malcolm Archer at Oxford in the 1970s. In my experience, he is an excellent choir director.

Malcolm Archer has a soprano range of his own. 🌲

I would have been fourteen and became a Christian that year at Mission England. Church choral music interests me, especially as I have a musical background (playing violin and viola, singing alto in my church choir). I also have perfect pitch, so would notice any sharp or flat singing!

Forgot to say that he was a very good countertenor

Oh oh oh! 26:42, Malcolm, that's too FAST! But lovely nonetheless!

Most impressive a choral rendition of prayer.

.".... to a Magnificat by Benjamin Britten". Err,,,, he never set the evening canticles!

I was a non-singing pupil ar BCS 1984-1992. And I am 99% sure I recognise the boy at 3:56 which is pretty surreal all these years later.

That last piece was from whom? The narrator mentions Britten...

It seems Mr Archer wasn't very successful in conveying an appreciation of Tudor music!
