Sangeet was so North Indian for a long time....now even South Indian families have caught on to it and it is a worse torture for us parents. None of us know what it is, or supposed to be, or why is it like this....and the kids want us to dance ....and almost all South Indian maamis come with big baggage behind. Most can barely waddle, let alone dance. If some of us have learnt dancing decades ago then it would be bharatnatyam ....imagine us waddling bharathnatyam steps to Bollywood music like chaiya chaiya ....I cant even describe about the dads and uncles 🤦🏼♀️

True. It was not done earlier in eastern India. However, now-a-days the copy cats have started performing Sangeet in this part also and this is a real torture. Sheer wastage of money and time.

Lol, we Sindhi people aren't like that 😏 I am from Pakistan and I am Hindu + Sindhi. You know Indian families who visit their Pakistani relatives, they consider themselves Bollywood celebrities and we are their servants who will fulfill all their unnecessary demands of branded costumes, bags, watches and other gadgets. Like they were sending half of their salary into our bank accounts. Bahot hi bokurh aur kanjos hoty hain kch Indian, bags bhur bhur kr le jany ki plannings kr k aaty hain wo bhi full shopping list ke sath. Ooper se bna invitation ke hi khud ki tickets book krwakr inform kr daty hain hum Pakistan aa rhy. Hum Pakistani sindhi log ksi relatives k ghar pe jakr wifi password manghny pe b shy feel krty hain because we Pakistani know our limits as the guests 😏

Yes ...recently at my cousin's wedding.........two of her friends started some speech mixed with pathetic songs. And It was 30-40 mins long during the Sangeet ceremony. The next day after "JaiMala" they came up with more content and it lasted around 30mins as well.
BTW that was our cue ya to jaake Kha lo... nahi to Ghar wapas nikal lo

After such a long time... although it didn't get me as it used to do in the previous ones. Alok nath and 'prabhu mujhe upar le lo' just caught me off-guard though. I still revisit those 'Umar barti ja rhi hai' and 'When your offsprings turn 18' when I feel down and dead. Thank you, Mr.Khatri.
