Forgetting the lyrics was a nightmare. The music stand with the book with the lyrics was the solution for me. Now there are more likable solving problem with the help of a iPad and keeping the mind free of pressure of forgetting the words and focusing to sing.

I was told this tip , that works well - use someone’s name at least 4 times. if you’re introduced to some, immediately say “Hi Rob” and get to know them - “how are you Rob?” , “what do you think of the party Rob?” / “what line of work are you in Rob?” 4 times - see if it works! Unfortunately I can never remember lyrics after only 4 repeats (more like 50 times!!!)
Thanks for the video. I am terrible at memorizing lyrics. I use an iPad that has all the lyrics and I look at them inconspicuously as needed which is most of the time. At age 62 it's not getting any better. Loved what you said in another video about your vibe it doesn't fit into every venue that is so vital and important to good success

Hey Sarah, new subscriber here. l'm an older guy at 61, been playing with a band for the past 30 years but l'm finally breaking out and going to try this solo thing. Very scary for me, since there's comfort in playing with a bunch of guys, however l'm tired of the drama and many other things. l'm going to play guitar and sing a variety of music and styles, mostly latin, brazilian bossa nova and yacht rock a la Christopher Cross. Give me your opinion on using a rhythm drum track. Why don't you use it? it gives me something to play with, but l get the feeling it might be a bit cheezy! Playing solo is the ultimate challenge for me, it will definitely put me out of my comfort zone. one last thing, why haven't you posted more videos? l loved your Tiny Desk submission song, it sounded like an old fashion hit song, very heartfelt and awesome vocals.
