    ABOUT Dr. Katie Woodley - The Natural Pet Doctor
    =====
    My vet career was lucky enough to begin in the beautiful country of New Zealand. I was able to see how living off the land by growing our own vegetables and raising our own animals was the way to live the healthiest versions of ourselves. My pets were lucky to have lots of open space to run around in, and we were always at the beach or the river.
    When we moved back to the States five years ago, my husband unfortunately developed an autoimmune disease. As we researched natural medicine options for him to avoid the horrible side effects of the treatment options his doctors were providing him, I realized that I was doing a disservice to my animal patients by not offering these holistic options to them. I began down the integrative medicine route, and I have never been happier. Through nutrition, acupuncture, herbal medicine, essential oils, and supplements, every animal can achieve optimal health or feel their best even when they have a chronic illness or disease like cancer. I currently have my certification in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine, and I am continuously learning about the other natural modalities and growing my knowledge base every day!
    The Natural Pet Doctor started to provide pet parents with more resources for natural medicine advice and care. We need to increase awareness of how amazing natural medicine truly is and how beneficial it can be to fixing the root problem! Our mission is to ensure that all pet parents have access to herbal medicine, supplementation and nutritional advice throughout their pet's lifetime. One of my greatest joys is the opportunity to collaborate with both pet parents and other veterinary professionals to ensure access to all available integrative options for pet health care to optimize pet health and vibrancy.

    If I want to go the holistic side of treatment for my boxers diagnosis would chemo therapy still need to be done ? My 6 year old boxer has just been diagnosed with T-cell lymphoma and having two different opinions from my primary vet and getting the news from the oncologist have been very unsettling to cope with. My primary stated that she had emerging lymphoma which was more on the side of treatable but with the specialist his diagnosis was that this was not curable and the life expectancy was only 6-12 months with chemo, I’ve heard of the horrors behind chemo as well as the price that comes along with it, I’m really finding myself ina rut trying to decide if I want to put my boxer through pain of chemo and or should I consider the holistic side.

      I have a 4 year old pit that has lymphoma, she was given a 3 to 4 week diagnosis, starting chemo with no holistic treatment, we found out in February? It's now October, she was not suffering at all during chemo, but the moment we stopped, she left remission, I'm trying to do a combination now, but my advice as someone who would give my life for my dog, if she's in pain.. it won't get better but if she is eating somewhat, showing the will to want to live, chemo can help, esp mixed with the natural things, but I wouldn't make her go through cancer without the chemo, because they just aren't themselves and even this almost 2 months she's been off she's changing like she was before, so remission can be a really big disappointment
