    Sir. You have no idea how many people you are educating and how many horses you are helping. You are a true teacher sent from the heavens . I'm not even a horse owner nor do I have any horse connections. (Not yet anyway) . A++ for videos

    No mention of addressing the stress which probably resulted in the first place?The training regimes?

    Thank you for this helpful video. I live in a very rural area of Latin America and the vet here is not very good. The horse I am working with has extreme pain on her belly when I press on it with my two fingers and will not take the cinching of a saddle at all. The vet said that her sensitivity is just bad behavior, which is hogwash. She does almost all other exercises almost perfectly. She is in pain. She does not have a life of high stress. All the horses have been in the pasture for almost a year and are self fed on the grass outside as well as water from the stream. I’ll give them about a 1 cup of dry corn grain in the morning and evening just to encourage them to come out from the pasture. Could this type of feeding be the issue? Should I bring them in at night to reduce their eating? Any advice would be helpful as the owner will not do anything about it and I have to figure it out myself. Thank you in advance for helping me!

    very helpful video - good vet work. but this is so typical of treating the symptoms and not the cause

      Yes they were so terrible for giving the horse some obvious pain relief. Good grief.

    When you say before a meal, after the horse has fasted- how long is that approximately for a 1200lb gelding?

    8 year old paint used to be Awsome to ride he came down with strangles never right again. Watched the video on ulcers and when you pressed points he would turn around and bite. On day ten of treatment no more sensitivity to that area let’s hope he rides good again

    I'm wondering what type of digestive supplement he would recommend. I did the points on my OTTB and she has them moderately. I'm going to do the omeprazole for 10 days but I also want to add the supplement.

    Can a horse still have ulcers without any reaction to these palpations?

    • @noraramos3798
      @noraramos3798 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      And conversely, can a horse show reactions to these palpation points and not be suffering from ulcers?

    • @animallover4101

      Nora Ramos yes like a girth or cinch that’s too tight.

  • @petinacole

    uh. maybe these horses are suffering because they're being worked too young? duh?

    I understand what this man is saying but most horses are going to flinch and move if you touch them there with 5 lbs pressure from fingers

  • @bmc06239
    @bmc06239 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    nice video to diagnose...but...you move too quickly to the medicine...this can mask any helpful changes in lifestyle. The key is to reduce the bad stress while training with peaks and valleys.

  • @gerrycoleman7290

    Why ulcers? Often because of a lack of understanding of horse's needs. Close stalling is one big reason.

      Prevention saves a lot of money. Keep your horse outside for at least 12 hours a day, allow free acess to forage, give them buddies to interact with. In other words: Lower the stress of your horse, it will not have problems with ulcers anymore.
