Yiren is one of the most abnormal cases in kpop. Stans love to defend their bias saying "they can improve", of course they can and after debuting, we expect them to improve considerably with the experiences they'll acquire. But usually an idol that debuts with mediocre/weak skills doesn't improve enough for ppl to say "Wow she really came through", even after years (I would love to give examples, but that would star a fan war). But Yiren, imo, is a rare if not the "only" case in which her early stans can proudly smile and say "I said she had potential and would improve", because she did and it was fast and it was visible, and it was glorious, she's far from being my bias, I was so against her debuting, because of her PD48 appearance, she was basically a pretty face, she was so bad/mediocre at everything. But then, of course, "pretty" gets points in kpop, she debuted and even tho she wasn't scarily bad as I expected she was still... Lagging, still the weakest member, still the one who was there because of her face. And THEN... BOOM! This girl, out of NOWHERE went from 0 to hero. Not only did she improve at everything, she's consistent. She does not slack, she's been solid as a performer for a while now, and keeps improving and improving. I feel like PD48/early Everglow Yiren was never a thing, never existed. Never knew her. Of course, she's still no Mia, Aisha or Onda in terms of dance and stage presence, or even vocals, but I feel like she has better stage presence than Sihyeon and E:U already, for instance.
