Before Eleni did the live shows with Fuego, I never thought she'd actually be runner-up, I really liked the song already but the live performance was sooo iconic✨
I totally agree with you with Fuego, back in 2018 before the show it was my 4th and everyone was telling that this was just a pop song with nothing and BOOM the live performance was here and everyone put it in the top 3
I can confirm that Fuego “before the rehearsals” began didn’t have any traction, it was like 17th in the betting odds, then it shot to number 1, but Greece was way more hyped and it didn’t even qualify 😅
Fun fact: Chali Jennings “choreographed” and directed Greece’s staging in 2018 and now she’s Elena’s Tsagkrinou art director and choreographer.. she’s also one of her dancers on stage
i can never tell what she looks like either 😂 and 1944 is my favorite entry too 😩👌 it just completely hits me every time I listen to it. it's above and beyond
From a photo they posted today with the pre recorded videos (in case they can't be performed live) the staging looks sick! Demonic red, her and dancers
I personally think the lyrics are a bit sloppy - the songwriters are clearly trying to evoke some sort of Latino vibes or connotation, but unlike Fuego (which was pretty good), comes off as trivial and stereotypical. The part that, as a Mexican, I found especially odd was the random "ta-taco, tamale" lyric and the imagery of "spicy sriracha." Kinda essentializing, tbh.
It's so funny to see the christians throw a fit and act like "religion shouldn't be part of the contest" over this song when there's two songs named "amen" this year. Like just say it fam, you only want to see Your religion represented and it's showing. The song is nice. It's a bit too generic for my taste, but pretty high up this year.
this is much better than fuego, it is updated, more modern, and a better overall production, more luxurious, more on the point. This, with an impressive choreography and stage performance, could even take the ESC 2021 trophy. And yes, fuego was prior to the ESc rehearsals underrated and certainly treated not as a serious contender, that is right. I think, el diablo is also a bit underrated
oh yeah, I definitely remember how lukewarm the reaction was to Fuego and how people were bored of Eleni just swivelling her hips around in the video and then BOOM she brought it on stage. But this song for me? That prechorus and the child chorus at the end take me out completely, all immersion lost. I just can't listen to it because it annoys me so much
tbh it really reminds me of bad romance😂 i made a mashup of the two and el diablo lowkey has the exact same bassline😅 nevertheless the song is sooo good and can get a top 10 position with the right staging🥰
1944 is also my favorite Eurovision entry. That performance was epic despite the controversy. I have even chatted a bit with Jamala before the show through messages and wished her good luck. I was more confident than her about her win. In regards to the Cyprus entry this year, if she can pull a Foureira performance, she can go very high but Foureira is a natural top performer so not sure if she can bring that. Good luck to her. I was born in Cyprus but I don't live there and I don't usually like the Cypriot entries so I'm not biased.
Right, Cyprus 2018 was like a basic song at the beginning and then after rehearsals everyone was like YES SLAY QUEEN WINNER so you know... Now I think El Diablo is also weak copy style of Eleni or Tamta (she looks so much like Tamta) and there are so many better songs for me ex. Greece
Just because they are all pop songs doesnt mean that its a copy. El diablo is completely different from Fuego and Replay, they dont even have the same structure, and with a good staging, Cyprus can even reach Top 5 this year.
@@ΠΑΝΑΓΙΩΤΗΣΠΑΝΟΥΤΣΟΠΟΥΛΟΣ-ζ3η I said that the STYLE is copied, not the song, stucture and all of that, but that's just my opinion and many people say that so I guess I'm not alone

Fuego was robbed, it should have won back then. The best proof and justice is that as years pass by fuego and Eleni's performance remain iconic, people are still talking about it, while nobody is talking about the actual winner song

Foureira has the "eyes of a lioness" that's why she won the hearts of Eurofans!!!

Exactly! So boring.
EVERYONE underestimated Fuego! Everyone! El Diablo is also underrated at the moment and it will have the same effect come May 18th!

Im not that religious but it´s kind of awkward to hear children´s voices singing " i love el diablo" (i love the devil). It´s a catchy song though.
Sound/song reminds me Lady Gaga romance wibes, I think.

Not a favorite of mine, sorry. Was not a fan of Fuego and Replay either.
But Fuego didn't win (rightly). This isn't winner material. It's been superseded by Malta and San Marino for this sub-genre. I hate it.
