Hi Jesse😁! This is Pascal , the composer of A Hat in Time. It was fantastic to see your reaction to my music and to hear you analyze the inner workings of the tracks. You have some tremendous insight into the technical details. You‘re guitar🎸playing is amazing and i would love to maybe work on some future music with you. Let me know if you‘re up for it. Looking forward to hear from you!
Interesting that you make a connection between old and new. A Hat In Time is a 3D platformer collec-a-thon that was released in 2017. We hadn't really seen a game like it since the N64 Era, and the game very much stands out on its own while also being a loving tribute to a genre that was thought to be long dead. We got Super Mario Odyssey that very same year as Nintendo's own resurrection of the genre, yet A Hat In Time still stood out
Pretty sure the composer of the Banjo Kazooie games made the soundtrack for the spaceship hub too, and was not included in the official soundtrack per his request.
Hey Jesse you made my day! Thanks a lot for the great review and for saying hi. :) I loved your reaction and that you can hear and feel the love and passion in his composing. Listening to you and you saying he is outstanding makes me wanna explode with joy. Thanks for everything and I can't wait for more!
You're not wrong about "fast": Game's a platformer, and it's a boss that robs you of your usual powers and then throws _A LOT_ of stuff at you that you need to dodge _really fast_ - again, while robbed of all your usual tricks and powers.
A great analysis for a great song! It's because of this song and "Rush Hour" i've started to play this game and did not regret it... It's also made me go emotional, cause i felt like i got back in time ( that's the game proposes) and played like i have nothing to worry about! Such a Great game. Kinda new to this channel, but loving your job and reactions!
A Hat in Time has great range in its OST. many of the world themes are cute or chill, and then the boss themes absolutely shred. 'killing two birds' and 'death wish' from the DLC are two more standouts
I'm really glad you managed to hear the love put into the music. The entire game oozes with that same charm of developers that just loved what they created, and you can tell from the first level to the later ones how much better their skills got along the way.
Electric guitar and organ is one of my absolute all-time favorite combos man-- any song that has both is guaranteed to kick ass. Add in synths and bursts of chorus and even a little orchestra and oh my god
HYPE AHHH YAY I LOVE HAT IN TIME XD As with last time, gotta sleep now, excited to listen to and watch this when I wake up! XD Thanks for the videos, they're really cool!
Super neat hearing your thoughts on this! I'm not super knowledgeable about music, so it's fun hearing you pick apart tracks I love and the elements of them!
If you wanna hear a good version of this with a live guitar as opposed to the instrument libraries used here, the Gametal cover of this song is excellent.
A little thing, there is three motive that played: the forst theme (the spooky vibe for the beginning of the song, then it switch for the battle theme with the old and new... And THEN it conclude with a reprise of the main theme. The old make you feel helpless, than heroic. The battle itself is...hum... Explosif.
OH I am so hyped to see Jesse reacting to A Hat in Time music! I definitely want to see more. I think I heard leitmotifs from the first A Hat in Time song you heard in this song.
i just found the channel through your league of legends reaction and what i think would be a good idea in this case specifically and you could probably apply this to other songs is listening to it like usual then watching a clip from the game where the music comes from to see if your guesses are right and get a true sense of what a song means coupled with said gameplay. same case goes for megalovania
i hope hes gonna sometime react to rush hour + calm hour a hat in time nyakudza metroashup. Its a truly masterpiece and my favorite out of all a hat in time ost
Hat in time is like the epitome of "solid game". It doesn't really excel at anything, but it's a competent game and a fun time. Basically just play it if you like Mario 64 style games (except more modern, obviously), but I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend it to anyone who doesn't. The only thing I don't like about the game is that it has a forced "horror" section, unless you know about a hidden skip. Which will turn off anyone who don't like that kinda stuff.

IIRC the creator of the game was heavily inspired by Super Mario Sunshine.
Pretty sure the composer of the Banjo Kazooie games made the soundtrack for the spaceship hub too, and was not included in the official soundtrack per his request.

This song is the boss battle theme for the ghost guy in the upper left corner of the artwork. He's such a fun character.
The melodic synth always gave me a Touhou vibe. A hat in time was such a joy to experience.
I'm not sure if it was this song, but I'm pretty sure one of the tracks in this game actually used the Touhou soundfont as an homage.
@@MystiaBird I'd love to know what that song is!
Snatcher didnt get a chance to activate his spell card "Hax Sign: You Just Plain Fucking Lose"

Evil carnival is not far off either, as you do run in circles in carousel fashion in order to fight the boss
Did you just color me blue with my own attack? That can't count... Right? Surely this doesn't count.
That does it, time to DIE.
That does it. Time To DIE.
Undertale reference
@@FunnyMan69-ci9yk it's literally just a reference to a hat in time itself
this game is pure perfection you need to react to every single one of themes
A great analysis for a great song!

Oh! A Hat in Time. Didn't think anyone would react to this. awesome.

A Hat in Time is one of my favorite games in the sense that it's just genuinely fun and silly.

This is my favorite song from this game❤
Oh, I've been WAITING for you to get to THIS one.
Boss battle is spot on. And keep moving? Also true 'cus this is absolutely a boss that generally doesn't let you stay in one place haha

Another amazing song from this game is called killing two birds

Man I forgot how much of a banger this soundtrack was

If you're looking for more AHiT songs, I'd strongly recommend checking out Rush Hour. it's a very different kind of song, but in a really cool way.
Yes definitely I listen to it a lot it fits the level very well very frantic feeling
The Main Theme of the A Hat in Time OST is really good too.
I would love to see you cover this song jesse
Love that heavy metal feeling, Yo uncle Jesse, could ya do Ender Lilies' North please?
The boss’ backstory this song plays for is really sad
Omg, it's me!
Only a man of culture would have bloody roar 2 ost in the background, mad respects for that

I just learned there's a version with lyrics... I wonder if Jesse will react to that?
React to Bãtutã din Moldova from the Rabbids Go Home game
