This was in Hall county TX. We built a large dam downstream. This was the temp dam we had built to hold back the water during construction. Lake is now full and 30' deep at new dam
If you are curious about what the lake looks like now, look at my latest video of the lake in April 2015. Actually since then it's came up another 2' or so
Please go look at the video of what the lake looks like "today...May 15, 2016". That will give you an idea of what I was trying to achieve. The dam that "we broke" was a coffer dam holding back the creek water while we build the larger main dam.
what about the trout migration to their spawning grounds?won't the Damm stop them from reaching their goal? sounds like environmental destruction for profit and to allow humans to become fat, dumb and lazy.
Joe Shmoe Yet you drive on freeways. Live in houses. Shop at Walmart or whatever your favorite super store is. Pollut the air with your carbon footprint. Basically causing all kinds of environmental and animal destruction and you have the nerve to lecture this dude about a few fish. Typical hypocrite pointing the fingers at others while committing worse destruction yourself. You sound like the usual liberal social justice warrior screaming at everyone else yet doing nothing yourself to make a difference.
Nice video, but why did he have to keep digging for so long. It made me nervous to watch that excavator so close to the edge. After the wall is breached, couldn't they just let erosion do the rest of the work?
***** We actually took out the entire "Temp" dam after this. So we wanted to remove as much dirt as possible. By the time we were finished, all the dirt you see behind and under the excavator was removed.
What aare the couple of lines, around 2- 2.10 ? The Tim for so fast. Could look like some very long ropes maybe, lifted fast in one end, in the middle of the water basin. Probably just a sand " hill", falling on the bottom of the dam. Cool to see, from far away. 🌷🇳🇴
+Todd Green No, if he knows what he is doing. Water current isn't magical super power which erases everything just by flowing a bit near by. See? There is plenty of ground to the left of the excavator.
What a dumb ass Excavator operator! He should have dug out the far side first instead of digging in the middle and then he can't reach across.Must be a rooky just learning!
That is an awesome video Linda, I enjoy watching these kind of video's and the best part you have a steady hand, some people they shake so much or they move the camera so fast you get dizzy. What state was this in? keep up the good work or should I say videos.
That bucket guy has never watched a damn breaking..was he got the water going..the water will dig the rest of the breach of the damn..he was lucky it didn't suck him into the water.
i'm not being critical - just asking: I keep reading article after article about rivers and lakes drying up due to bad drought and how counties are fighting over water rights in texas - if this is all true, where is the wisdom in building a lake - all around on this video it looks like desert wasteland
+beavis4play Actually, it's a very fertile area, lots of farming and ranchin. This was taken in the winter when everything is dead and all the trees have lost their leaves. Annual rainfall in this area is 20" which is by no means a desert.

the only thing missing is me and a skimboard hanging on the bucket riding the flow
You could have saved paying for heavy equipment had you just hired the guys that build the Teton dam
+Brandon Juber the Teton dam failed because of porous rock, not engineering.
Do you not consider the material choice to be part of an engineer's responsibility?
Fair enough. I was simply saying the structure itself was fine.
I kept getting a feeling in my gut that the edge where that excavator was going to give way, taking him with it!
That was far..little bit closer then it would be excited see water burst out
The wave effect in the donor pool is amazing
If you are curious about what the lake looks like now, look at my latest video of the lake in April 2015. Actually since then it's came up another 2' or so
Paul Fletcher
i wish you would have recorded longer. it is fascinating to watch.

That was Awesome! Thanks for sharing... 😃👍
my favorite part was the wind noise
Filmed in glorious 240p with the POTATOCAM 2000.
I've been hanging pictures for my wife all morning. So I'm honestly surprised you didn't ask him to move the pile a little to the left.
That's a dam shame.
The difference between a garbanzo bean
And a Chick pea.
I never had to pay to have a garbanzo bean on my chest.
I think this used to be call the la tigra. It feeds all the major rivers in northern Mexico, and south central Brazil.
Nice video, but why did he have to keep digging for so long. It made me nervous to watch that excavator so close to the edge. After the wall is breached, couldn't they just let erosion do the rest of the work?
No it would take to long
I'm an expert dam builder my dam broke we had a flood to where we couldn't get out it was as tall as are door
Nick Huffman I guess you're not really an expert huh?
***** We actually took out the entire "Temp" dam after this. So we wanted to remove as much dirt as possible. By the time we were finished, all the dirt you see behind and under the excavator was removed.
***** I agree 100% with StamfordBridge. The excavator was pressing his luck, left to its own the water would have finished the job.
Proudly brought to you by... Potato Vision! (Patent pending)

If I were that machine operator I would head for dry Ground!
That person in the escavator's taking a chance on that loose dirt washing out.
Sherry Lee Maybe he is the guy who built the dam in the first place.
Strat Playing Guy yes, I was thinking the same thing.
+Kratax So what? Still a bad decision on his part.
+Todd Green No, if he knows what he is doing. Water current isn't magical super power which erases everything just by flowing a bit near by. See? There is plenty of ground to the left of the excavator.
+Kratax He still should have gotten out of there. Once those first two scoops were out, that hole was going to expand just fine on it's own.
Cool video
If I had a dollar for every pixel in this video, I might be able to buy myself a loaf of bread
Not anymore but maybe 4 years ago lol
The dam didn't break, it was a controlled opening. clickbait
I would have started scratching in front of the whole front of the damn reaching out and as it got a thinner wall the whole thing would have let go
240p resolution in '2015?
Time to upgrade your camera.
I was at Burning Man '2015 and recorded everything in 2160p. Videos to be uploaded soon.
that's a good backhoe operator👍👍
That is not a backhoe, it is an excavator.
@@fredgrove4220 It’s an excahoe near Mexico.
that is a deliberate breach....NOT a break...what dam...where????
Great job Linda.
Everybody asks what is Linda's view, but nobody asks HOW is Linda's view
Good very nice
Judging by how dry it is all there, could have put in some pumps and irrigated the surrounding area to green it up a bit : )
What was the reason that the lake was dammed?.
Nice Video, but the next Time, zoom more in please
Its' more like a bird' eye view from a tree....🤣
cool video⛵
What a dumb ass Excavator operator! He should have dug out the far side first instead of digging in the middle and then he can't reach across.Must be a rooky just learning!
What a time for my prescription to go bad!
alright, alright, alright, fellow texans ! beautiful country yall ! looks like a place i would would love explore and do some fishing !
Going to be hard after all the damage they did to the environment there
Interesting . Why you didn't come close ?
Because it's really dangerous she probably wasn't allowed
YAY THAT YOU HAVE A SECOND DAM, YOU NEED THIS TO RECHARGE THE WATER TABLE, NOT JUST FOR SURFACE USE.
is this on ur private property? if so, how much did it cost to make ur own lake
Yes. You can't see the large dam in this video, but if you look at some of the other dam views and you can see it, but the project cost about $100,000
+Paul Fletcher At the 2:42 mark it shows the new dam.....
+Paul Fletcher How did you make your money? 100.000 for a lake?
Might have helped if you had explained why is was done.
240p? really?? in 2014???
+Cameron Bell And comes second in severity only to vertical filming ;)
i didn't see any dam "breaking", all i saw was one being dug out!
Well, that just ruins the whole video, now doesn't it? Jesus.
looks like the middle of Australia or something!
(although i know it is in Texas)
Cameron Bell to me it looks like central California.
That is an awesome video Linda, I enjoy watching these kind of video's and the best part you have a steady hand, some people they shake so much or they move the camera so fast you get dizzy. What state was this in? keep up the good work or should I say videos.
+John M. Evangelis Texas.
Sweet vid boys!
Very interesting
Get close.. Get close
The ripples in the water is a trip when they first breach the dam and then again when they scoop out dirt the 2nd time.
Oh!!!!! The humanity !!!!!
the only thing missing is a dam breaking
Click bait
Big deal - so how come she didn't film closer???
Why did they break it open?
Shouldn't waste time emptying his bucket.. Let the sluice have it so he can widen the gap more quickly and then hightail it pretty damned pronto!
not really breaking is it?
Every comment seems to be from experts on excavation, never realized there were so many out there
Yep, there are about 75 of us on earth, and we all just watched this video.
I Hope you didn't lose too many Fish.
WOW, Inane commentary.
and I thought it was only guys who were able to just watch and marvel at such stuff,... a true tomboy then perhaps,
That bucket guy has never watched a damn breaking..was he got the water going..the water will dig the rest of the breach of the damn..he was lucky it didn't suck him into the water.
Suck him into the water? It's not a vacuum cleaner.
Bahahahahaha what drugs are you smoking?!
run fo the hills Betsie
Where is this?
Hall County, TX. Near Tell Tx
Ok, because I searched Dayton, NV, but ended up in TX
This footage pleased me. I approve. Thank you.
Anyone else thinking the excavator operators a tad bit under experienced?
Lucky he didn't get washed out from underneath
would have been a lot better if you got closer...
the dam didn't break. man opened it.
Where's environment when ya need then?
All it takes is a small breach and - voila!
Boys,of whatever age, just delight in playing with and in the water!
please correct the title of one of your Videos, that is speedup so the Refill is only 2min Long.
Dam breaking? How about dam opening?
Illegal water Storage?
Welcome to Texas. Right to capture state!
you would think with this kind of work being done, there would be more men or more workers there. kinda looks like it was just for fun!
are those tsunamis?
Not a dam breaking. Intentional breach.
breach: Middle English: from Old French breche, ultimately of Germanic origin; related to break
as in they are breaking the dam, not that the dam is breaking on its own.
Gostei
It took too long, to break that dam
Click bait. This was intended. And, shot in 240?
Got a little titanium in them gonads!
Tornado season?
I'd say use dynamite. Would be alot quicker and alot more interesting to watch. Just a thought. Have a great day everyone.
I would like some background information ??
.... *DAM!*
I assume this is legal??
Only if you pay the nearest democrat
The dam thing didnt break
These 240p videos.... Really?!?
Damn! You really broke it!
that's plenty of water
The dam dam😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Should've had a rubber tyre, a wet suit and a camera!
Does not look like the proper way to remove a damn, hopefully no hatches going on. Suffocate everything down stream.
Why is the excavator actually turn to dump? That makes 0 sense,
Alan Jackson
So they took out a cofferdam, wow.
an this is how you make a new lake.........
the end....
I didn’t see the dam break.
Filmed in Potatovision

And now most of Texas lakes are in flood stage. So I guess it was a good time to build a lake.

I enjoyed the commentary. (i really did, not being sarcastic)
Dam
DAMN
that's not a dam that's a levy
It's not a levee, it's a dam. A levee controls flood water in channels to keep it from flooding low laying ground.
+Aaron Mathis
Like New Orleans Louisiana
Aaron Mathis you got that backwards.
