  • If you want to create the impression that your lead singer is double-tracked, or, if you want to add unison singing parts for your background vocals, you can't just simply duplicate the track. All that does is just make it louder. You'll need to alter the tracks to make them distinguishable from each other, and I'll show you how in this video. The same principles apply to Synthesizer V, Vocaloid, or any other vocal synthesis software.

Using different take for each singer adds some différence too

Well explained and simple to do; you can really hear the difference once the pitch data is varied for each voice. I like the idea of detuning by 5 cents or so and then slightly moving the notes around on the copies.
Once i bounce the seperate voices to my daw i usually time stretch the waveforms a bit, further creating minor imperfections in timing and adding realism.👍

How cumbersome is it to program these voices to sing the words the way you want?

I don't think it's very hard at all, especially if you have some kind of musical experience playing an instrument (including singing). If someone is completely new, then they would have to learn some basic music fundamentals, i.e., the keys of a piano, the notes of a scale, length of notes, etc. But it's not hard to get basic singing down--with these Synthesizer V AI voicebanks, you pretty much only need to worry about placing down the notes and let the voicebank "sing." They each have their own style of singing.

@@AnomieTrain Thank you for replying. Just one more question - I use GarageBand to create backing tracks/music/instrumentals. I assume I can export the vocal I create so as to be able to import it to GarageBand? I truly appreciate your reply!

Is Instant Mode turned on? If so, then auto pitch will automatically regenerate the pitch as your editing.

Thanks for the great video and sharing your experience. This answer also helped, the instant mode is no longer to be found in my version of Synthesizer v, but in note properties I found out if I switch to Manual, then I can use the auto tune functions 😊

You can edit the phoneme to just have the single phoneme m. That will make a humming sound.
