They didn't have women in hardcore bands in the 80s AFAIK, except for the ones who were in Black Flag and Nausea. I went to see Black Flag after they hired Kira as their bassist, and a guy in the audience thought she was a little kid! Punk rockers were so ignorant back then. LOL
Mood of Defiance, Sin 34, Alley Cats, Urban Assault (sf), Red Scare, Unseen Force, No Thanks, Red Cross, Germs, Bags, Legal Weapon, Hari Kari, Frightwig, The Dicks, Lunachicks, Fire Party, Screamin Siren, ....all had women or were all female bands. What the fuck are you talking about 😂

Like they wanted to do something different but then were just like, “let’s scream and sing and make our music even more formulaic.” Anyone that likes it is lying to themselves
Its very easy to take one look at scowl and write them off as a medicocre band with a hot lead singer. i dont think they're that simple. I think once kat improves on her clean vocals/singing, and the guitarist improves, they can be a great fucking band. They have great lyrics, and a super talented drummer and bassist. if you watch their interviews, they're actually just a bunch of weirdos/music nerds lol theyre super genuine and nice people (the bassist, bailey, is my favorite) You can also sense a lot of anxiety coming from kat as well in her interviews, that might contribute towards the rough vocals.
