I found this channel about two weeks ago. Binged watched most of it. I admire the way you guys live life and are very inspirational. You have shared a lot of information, my favorite is in the beginning of your journey to Alaska when you guys said if there is something you want to do in life just do it. That has stuck with me the most. Very true. We spend a lot of time talking and not doing. Thanks for putting out great content.
I love watching your channel so much. I lived in Alaska most of my childhood after first grade but moved away after high school graduation. One of my greatest desires is to go back and take my family to see that amazingly beautiful place! I’m 61 so good chance it won’t happen but at least I get to see it often through your camera lens. I’m very thankful I found y’all.
Wonderful video. I loved the hot dog technique. I’ve been a trout fisher all my life here in PA. But I have been lucky to fish other areas north as well. You are right. Some of the most unconventional baits can work. Sometimes the more creative you think off mainstream.....the better things are. Thank you for another enjoyable vid.
Great job with the rod holders Eric! Your really resourceful/creative, I’m sure that’s a huge plus living in Alaska off grid. Ariel is funny, do you need help, then it’s her turn and she’s like I don’t know what to do. She’s just so kind and thoughtful. Always willing to give a helping hand. Stay warm n safe guys!
I was so happy to have ran across you two. Hay, spring is almost here. I cant wait to watch. Stay safe you two. Couple of things. If you use an old metal coffee can or a number 10 food can and fill it with charcoal you set it next to the hole and let if melt ice to flow into the hole. That keeps the hole from freezing over. Next, there are videos on line to fillet pike without bones. Third, you can pickle pike. It is delicious. Gut them, skin them and chop into chunks and pickle. Lots of recipes on line. The bone dissolves or becomes soft and edible. Really good. Lots of calcium from the bones.
We used to go crabbing and clamming at the Jersey shore when I was a kid. Drop the traps off my uncle’s boat, with cheap junk chicken pieces. Mom would cook them and freeze them, and we had done great snacks. We would also use some of the clams as bait and we would catch a bunch of fish!
I've watched all your videos and think of you two often surviving the weather. Ice fishing brings me many memories, went ice fishing with my Dad when I was a kid. Just a week ago it was -2 here in Northern Indiana. No outside adventures for me.
